Best of 2013: films
The list is made of films that came out in Brazil during the whole of 2013. Some had its American/European release date set in 2012 or even before that. But, like last year (when I started to compile best of lists*), I decided to stick to this self-imposed rule of considering just the films that were released commercially or via film festivals in Brazil during 2013. And it’s 15 titles this time, because whoa.

Still listening to Ep 3 <3 But boy am I enjoying these three SO MUCH and Travis’s dming style and this setting? It’s so cute… here’s a bunch of Fitzroy, snippy, and the dork trio at breakfast
Travis in Balance: can I pleeeeeeease have a dog?
Griffin: how about a fish. it does nothing its just a fish
Griffin in Graduation: But I don’t want—
Travis: here is your magic crab son he reflects your INNERMOST SELF and you must LOVE HIM
i know sir fitzroy is a hot, rich, beefy half elf but i cant help but imagine him as this
blurry cat is my new fav taz character

1) A great depiction of how the concept of intelligence (and how it’s measured) is extremely dependent on culture. All of the firbolg’s answers are sensical and intelligent. He was given a situation where there’s only one small tree and both he and a squirrel want to use it, and he’s trying to find a solution to that. “what is 25 minus 18″ is not even on the firbolg’s radar; that’s not remotely connected to the issue at hand. What he’s trying to do is make sure everyone has a place to live. He isn’t unintelligent, not by a long shot, but his ability to understand and answer questions is drastically shaped by his cultural context and values.
2) Absurdly fucking hilarious
I love Travis’s new muppet npc
Griffin having a ‘no dogs/pets on the moon’ policy in his fantasy d&d game and then very reluctantly allowing Travis’ character to have a pet fish vs Travis including a dog from ep 1 and then forcing Griffin’s character to take care of a pet familiar which has the importance of being his magic embodied is absolutely the modern day, sibling equivalent of tolkein saying lampposts can’t be in a fantasy story vs C S Lewis being like Fuck U and including one.
