YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE THE #1 SELFSHIPPER EVER TO BE A SELFSHIPPER!!

You don't have to be the loudest fan. You don't have to post only about your f/o 24/7. You don't have to own every piece of merch. You don't have to solely draw your ship and nothing else. You don't have to have hundreds of commissions bought or pictures of your f/o on every wall of your room.

You know what DOES make you a selfshipper? Loving a fictional character! Thats it! Thats the only requirement and everything else is up to how YOU want to experience that!!! Don't stress yourself out by trying to win a race thats not there. Your ship, your f/o, is something thats meant to make you happy.

I want to look you in the eyes and assure anyone out there that you don't have to match some checklist to be a real selfshipper! You can just simply be.

"As long as you don't harass or-" I know you mean well, but you aren't actually helping.

Most people do not condone or support terrible actions like harassment by default. This is not something that you need to specify. By outright stating that you are anti-harassment, it ends up making people believe one of two things: 1. You're lying, and you support harassment, or 2. You're paranoid, and it's hard to build up trust in you.

It's the same with making "nonsharers are valid" posts with a bunch of disclaimers at the end, or making posts going "hey friendly reminder not to harass people over doubles ok." It creates distrust by implying that you believe nonsharers ARE prone to harassment by default, and that we have to "prove" that we aren't "one of the bad ones".

And it ALWAYS happens after a nonsharer ends up harming people over a double. I get it; You want to remind people to be decent with each other. But again, you make it seem like it's an issue with the entirety of nonsharers when it was that one person who caused harm.

Sharing selfshippers can harass people. Selective/mirror sharing selfshippers can harass people. Nobody makes posts saying "sharing selfshippers are valid... as long as you aren't fucking evil about it and you know how to be a decent person, which I hope you are!" So let me reiterate:

Nonsharing selfshippers are valid. That is a complete statement.

I'VE WATCHED SHNOOK OF THE NORTH!!!! I KNEW HIS FLUFFY PARKA LOOKED VERY FAMILIAR, one of my favorite looks of his is definitely his prom look too and when he dressed up as a mall cop, it's the way his hat literally matches his hair, big hat, but honestly he looks good in literally anything
