The October Horse by Colleen McCullough allows us to journey back in time when there were gods and Pharaohs. We explore the complex political and love affairs of Cleopatra And Cesar. Assassination and the consequences of power and ambition. Conniving conspiracies and plots. Civil war and change from the traditional way of life. Legacy and cycles of history. This story allows Cleopatra and Cesar to have a voice in this historical fiction which was been lost to time. Cleopatra must tread carefully in the world of Men and political power as she struggles to reclaim her rightful throne. This story is a rather lengthy and intense read and discusses politics, civil war, reformations, the implications of a Roman dictator and betrayal. It will go over the relationship of Cleopatra and Cesar and how that impacted Rome and Egypt. Their legacies still are carried through the passage of time. Cesar shaped Rome through policies and consolidation of power. This book follows Cesar in his attempt to make Rome adapt to change. Their impact cannot be underestimated. While the topic of politics is not enticing to some this was an interesting read
