very very appealing to me that nigel is not only smiling at alex here, but that he’s partaking in the collective joy of the class while they laugh at alex’s antics.

we talk a lot about nigel finally getting alex to crack here (below) in the crawlspace, but this was a paralleled behavior. like this (above) moment isn’t JUST the recognition of a common interest igniting a spark inside of nigel, to me, it sort of displays how their behaviors mutually affected one another, and rubbed off on nigel too, putting him in situations or altering his disposition to be more similar to alex’s in this environment. sure, this may not have been an entirely absent occurrence for nigel to laugh or smirk at a cruel prank, but the thing is that we never see him do it otherwise in the film. not even moments before when Simms was electro-jolted out of his seat, and not in the deleted scene either did he seem even mildly amused by Mr. Fergus’s animated teaching and interactions with the class.

alex, thrilled, despite himself. and nigel, entertained and joining in on the class’s collective enjoyment of alex’s shenanigans in opposition to the usual indifference he has towards his classmates. it MEANS something. and granted, it WAS the contents of what alex’s ramble consisted of that got this out of him, but it still eased him into something resemblant of normalcy, as he would then later inverse and do onto alex within similar subject material in the crawlspace while luring alex into abnormality. am i making sense?

there’s these small moments of humanity displayed from nigel that alex permits the viewer to believe he provoked, and for what reason? the very same that he allows sally rowe to believe everything incriminating he partook in was of nigel’s influence? i think yes.

Like Minds Costuming: The Tie

Some days, I go to work dressed as a cunty motherless British murder twink.

The tie is screen accurate, directly from the company that supplied the ties for the movie. It took me three years to track down the exact match because I didn't want to settle for close enough. Because I'm *that* bitch.

Getting that stripe to line up perfectly on the knot is very difficult, so maybe I'll nail it next time.

I just need to get my navy blazer tailored to fit me correctly, and then I'll be unstoppable. Maybe then I'll go hunting for a gray waistcoat like Nigel's so I can switch between them at will.

In my drawing Nigel is facing Alex’s heart that he took out carefully thanks to his taxidermy acknowledgement. I guess this is a little bit like the end of the movie? Expect the fatal end would be inverted, and to be one with each other - for eternity - Nigel would have taken a bite out of Alex’s heart, making him a part of himself forever after consuming his most important organ.

He wouldn’t eat it fully though, I think that he would conserve it carefully as a sort of morbid souvenir of who he once acknowledged to his equal. Also the heart being symbol of love and desire.. i really like that’s one take of Nigel’s father being homophobic and Alex being in a sort of denial about his own self or just very confusing, I definitely see their relationship as more than platonic but not totally romantic ? It’s probably beyond that, ofc idk lotta stuff bout it im super new n all.,, don’t even know if it gon rush anyone ok
