A Little Pain | Colton & Lucas
Colton was trying to get back into the swing of real life, and it wasn’t doing particularly well but at least he’d sorted this with Maslowe. It would give him the opportunity to assess where he really was at with his training. Having been in the company for about three years now, he wondered sometimes how long it would take until Maslowe thought he was ready to carry out a hit. The thought terrified him but all the same, maybe it could spur him into action. It wasn’t fair on Lucas, after all, to keep going how he was.
So he arrived about on time, as much as he didn’t want to be there, and even conjured up a smile for his trainer upon entering the room. “Yes, sir,” he said with a nod, going to stand at the table.
His eyes slid uncomfortably over the guns, and he glanced over to the other options. After barely a moment of thought, he picked up the crossbow, testing its weight. “Gotta be versatile,” he said, trying to explain away why a trainee hitman hadn’t chosen a gun first and foremost. “By the way, sir, I never actually thanked you for my Christmas present, it was a really nice gesture.”
Lucas crossed his arms as he watched Colton, seeing the young man evaluate his choices. He didn't make any notion that he approved or disapproved of Colton's choice. "It's true, don't know what you'll be faced with during a mission," he spoke easily, perking a brow as he motioned towards the targets,"take your best shot, Colton."
He was a bit surprised that he mentioned the present, it wasn't a big thing for the man. Just a token for his recruit. "You're welcome, figured every new trainee needs a nice gun. It's a lot easier if you can call the weapon your own. Know how it works, how to take it apart and put it back together."
