Under The Table | Para 01

Truthfully, he should have walked away. While nothing was official between himself and the senior cheerleader, she’d made it quite clear just how singular their relationship was going to be. In his mind, she had her faults, and when it came how gorgeous she was, the blonde in front of him blew the cheerleader out of the water. It was a natural beauty matched with an innocent glow he’d yet to see around campus. Everyone wanted something from him, but the clumsy stranger before him seemingly wanted nothing more than to apologize and move on. Maybe if she hadn’t of been so pretty and kind, he could have let her do just that, but alas.
His now wet jersey was sticky, but he couldn’t be bothered by something so trivial with a few good shots warming his entire being. With a single wash, it’d be like new, well, old-new, but that was the least of his worries. While he’d taken the brute of it all, she’d fallen victim to her own mistake, and what kind of party host was he if he allowed her to remain sticky for the duration of the night’s festivities? Lips curved upwards slightly more as she revealed her name – one that he hadn’t heard yet. “It’s awesome to meet you, y'know, even like this,” he shrugged, offering his hand despite her warning. “I’m sure I’ve touched worse,” he hummed lightly, though immediately regretted. Geez, so much for not being a total weirdo, Hudson. “Oh yeah, for sure,” he nodded, his hand an open invitation for the walk. “Might wanna stay close. The house gets kinda crazy after everyone’s played a few games of pong, and I’m pretty sure you could do without another spilled drink.” It was a joke, but also something he meant. “And just so you know, I’m gonna take you upstairs. Not to like, freak you out or anything. It’s just, the bathroom down here probably has someone in it, y'know, not wanting to share. You can use the private one up in my room.” He knew out it sounded, and just as quickly as it’d rolled off his tongue, he felt his cheeks grow hot. “I’ll stand outside to make sure no one tries to come in, even though everyone here knows my room is off limits.” Did that make it any better? Maybe?
Life really wasn’t fair sometimes. Finn was handsome, and friendly, and she was pregnant with somebody else’s baby. If only she could have met him a month ago, instead... and she had to stop thinking that way. What ifs were pointless. “I’ll take that as a compliment.” She took his hand and shook it lightly. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Finn.”
Quinn arched a slender brow, though the expression was clearly more amused than offended. And then, surprising herself, she actually let out a soft laugh. “I appreciate the use of your private bathroom, really. Thank you.” She assured him. “Believe me, I’ve seen enough frat house bathrooms to know you’re doing me a favor.” His had to be at least slightly cleaner than the one open to the rest of the party-goers, she was hoping. And if it meant she could spend a few more minutes with the first guy to make her laugh in weeks, she wouldn’t complain.
He seemed so sweet, and... real. Not like so many of the other guys she’d met here, most of whom were more concerned with their self-image and number of girls they slept with than anything else. She liked that he wasn’t smooth. It made him even cuter. She knew herself well enough to tell that she was already attracted to him; the smart thing to do would be to walk away after she finished cleaning herself up. She didn’t want to walk back to the sorority house with sticky hair and clothing, right? And it would be rude to turn down his offer, after he’d been so nice to allow her to use his private bathroom.
“Lead the way.” She reached for his hand again. “Just so we don’t get separated.” She added, offering him a small smile. Though even in this crowd, she had a feeling she wouldn’t lose sight of him now that she’d met him. He had a presence that made him stand out, not to mention he was taller than half the room.
