The faces Carl makes when Peter is being embarrassing are just amazing.Â
Dear libertines fandom
Does anybody know the place of Viennaâs gig? Because wikipedia says that itâs huge, and I think about going there, but I donât like the thought of going to an arena gig, because I really donât like arena gigs.

NME job application: Please attach picture of your Arctic Monkeys shrine. If deemed big enough you will be called in for an interview.
14 Days of Carl Barât: 14/14.
This last one is about how, as time passes, people, that are always young in your head, suddenly have grey hair.
Oh the innocence
Iâm reading an interview about the 2nd Dirty Pretty Things album and it ends with Anthony saying:
âCarl was freaked when I did it with other people at first, but I was âI'm just making tunes, man!ââ.
Am I the only one who is rofling so hard right now? I canât even afdsflkj!!11

Peterâs obsession with Carl was soooo obvious.
Are you a guy or a girl? i know some people with the name Donnie and one is a girl and the other is a guy.
Iâm female (and thanks for reminding me to update my profile, because there is a new album out there and I didnât need to kill anybody for it).
can you please give any information about the libertines on the dash? just started interesting this band
Well well wellâŚ
It was a fine day back in 1997 when Pete and Carl first met⌠Ok, you probably want the short version.
The Libertines were (and apparently are again) a garage rock / post-punk British band with Peter Doherty & Carl Barât doing vocals and guitar, John Hassall on bass and Gary Powell on drums. They originally existed between 1999 and 2004, and released two albums: Up the Bracket (2002) and The Libertines (2004). Pete and Carl were two romantics fascinated with the old days and the idea of Arcady, a heaven for everybody believing in love and music. But they were both a bit self-destructive and prone to drugs and alcohol, so a lot of drama happened, leading to broken hearts and hard feelings on both sides. A short summary (not really sorted by time): guerilla gigs, lots of tears, Pete breaking in into Carlâs flat to get money for drugs, Carl being a drunken asshole, Pete being thrown out of the band, Carl and Pete writing songs about it and reciting poetry on an NME awards show, Pete being in jail for having weapons (it was a present for Carl, who collected knives), Peter being replaced by Anthony Rossomando, because Pete just couldnât get his shit together, the band breaking up after releasing the second album.
That would be it, but the band became a hype somehow, and the fan base became bigger and bigger as time passed by (because the music really is great and influenced a lot of other musicians, like Arctic Monkeys etc.). Peter and Carl had new bands (Babyshambles and Dirty Pretty Things, respectively), but somehow they knew that there was some unfinished business. So they sorted it out in a way in 2010 and did some reunion gigs, and then realised that they still had it. So in 2014, after even more successful reunion gigs and even a tour, they recorded some songs in Thailand, Peter being in an apparently successful rehab, and released a new album a couple of weeks ago, Anthems for Doomed Youth. And now everybody is freaking out, because the Libertines are THE band of the millennium (as NME would have it, sometimes I think that NME consists only of libertines fanboys and -girls).But just listen to the songs, and youâll get it, I promise. Listen to âYouâre My Waterlooâ, and âDeath on the Stairsâ, and âMusic When the Lights Go Outâ, and âLast Post on the Bugleâ, and âGood Old Daysâ, which is, in my opinion, one of the best songs ever. This is really good music, very romantic in a tragic way, and even heart-breaking. I still think that the Libertines are not just a band, but somehow a way of living, because they have this whole philosophy of dreaming of a better reality and escaping our cruel, cruel world.
I donât know, who created this overwhelming piece of art, but I love it.
