Your average gasmask has posted again😸🚬
Now that I have time again, my psychology-pedagogy diploma in my bag, I get the well deserved break I really need and I can focus on Planet 51 entirely again😼
And meanwhile that, I thought about Grawls parents, and I used his old design for his father because it’s a gag, holding a sparkling walking and pointing stick like it was intended for Grawl. Sparkling because it’s a symbol of authority. On the right is his mother, her sapphire brooch is sparkling because it’s the wisdom in her as a physician.
Grawls eyes are the only one sparkling because hes the one to go through redemption and start liking humans.
Strong believer of the theory that Grawl is from an elite/aristocrat family.
Grawls father must’ve been a general himself and owned a majority of land, the mother must be equally successful and fitting to the time Grawl was born and raised, thats where science in endocrinology, biochemistry and birth control was booming, lead by female pioneers. (Grawls father highly likely worked with Kipple too cuz that guy is 60, was 17 when Grawl was born and probably studied on the base thats why he knows Grawl so well I guess) Military culture and family values in the Edwardian period were extremely hierarchical and the higher the rank or the wealthier, the more they wanted an equally wealthy/successful family to merge with. Means a general would likely marry another military family or someone else so successful, perhaps scientists. And to the time Planet 51 happens, it’s the 50s and counting back, his parents must be born in the Victorian era, built their wealth on owning field and cattle, investing into the military industry as well to “defend” it. Timewise would that make sense, and place wise too, Planet 51 is inspired by the southern US, exactly where the cattle and field industry was booming, and where Native Americans were shunned away and killed by private military forces.
Grawl himself is just behaving and speaking way too snobby and mannered for an average man, he also holds himself and bis body too elegantly. Bro is only 43 years old and clasps his hands behind his back like hes 60… I mean if he were a rugged working class man who was able to rise in the military hierarchy so high at such a young age, he would not scrunch his face at bodily odor or speak so nicely and with sharply pronounced words either… Also the way he takes whatever he wants tells me he got everything in life on demand, and how excelent the merit is he offers for an institution like the military. Tells me he was born in a system like that, and likely had a very militarized general father who set focus on education and success and tactical leadership. It’s stated that hes the general of the armed forces, thats a very high rank and mostly the people owning that rank are over 50 or so, unless they were serving in critical times and had familial support and relationships that helped him out. Yeah you can argue that it was the 50s and respect was somewhat more important so therefore thats why the way he is. Like the creators said their planet is almost like us so I take that for granted and take the theories from our life and world🫡
Aside from that, heavily taking from his old and first concept designs, this walking cane, probably made of malacca and silver, another sign of higher social class. Like Grawl was intended to be that snobby general. And that snob has to come from somewhere.
