Itâs their second hot-toddy. River didnât even really like them. Hand over fist, a splash of brandy into a piping hot cup of cider was the way to go. With cheeks reddened from their second chair lift ride, it was impossible not to enjoy the blast of heat from the many fireplaces inside the lodge. âMmm.â Lids slipped shut over hazy blues while they did their best to savor the flavor of the lemon. Honestly? Someone could have slipped them hot sludge and theyâd probably have savored it just as well. âThank the cosmos that Iâm not on call tonight.â Settling back into one of the larger, over-stuffed sofas, River kicked their feet up onto the coffee table before them- hot-toddy still in hand⌠And nearly empty. âI am definitely having another one of these. No, wait.â Theyâd shook their head. âNot one of these. Something else. Something better.â With a glint in their eye, they turned to smile at the other person. âSuggestions?â
"How did you manage to get out of that one? Iâd think everyone was scrambling to take the night off considering todayâs events.â Practically the entire town had come together for the festivities and anyone who was sorely missed only had their employers to blame, though Luna supposed that saving their sorry asses from a potential fire took precedence. It was too bad, really. âIâm always down for a little wine, but that doesnât feel quite festive enough, does it?â She considered cider, spiked hot chocolate, and a variety of other options before settling on the simplest one possible: âWe could go see what hard liquor is available, if you really want to get a bit messy.â
