ANGELINE’s ægenda is a task-driven agenda designed to support and check out the projects of the angels of asia, hiraeth. originally a fan-made initiative by fans for fans, it has since become official and globally trusted by angels all around the world. each month, loyal and dedicated fans are appointed to create tasks and articles to keep everyone informed about all things hiraeth, tailored to the events and projects of that month.
Hiraeth might not have released a new, actual group record in 2025, but their influence has been impossible to ignore. The trio has spent much of the year moving alone, quietly, and almost strategically, yet every step, whether in fashion, film, or unexpected brand tie-ins, has kept their name in rotation along active groups and soloists. What could have been a quiet year has instead become a masterclass in staying relevant without oversaturation.
However, despite their absence within the caraluna label, music still found its way into the picture. Early this year, Hiraeth surprised fans with the theme song, "Q&A", for Netflix’s My Melody & Kuromi, an adorable and pastel themed project that reminded everyone of not only their past ties with the Sanrio franchise, but their knack of blending themselves into things all sweet and playful. And while technically a 2024 release, their cover of “Escape from the City” during the initial running sequence and the main theme song, "Somethin' Ain't Right", for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 refuses to fade, especially among angels, the Sonic fandom and those who find the collide of these two worlds amusing (reminder, whatever Yaoyao asks for, she will get it!). The aforementioned tracks are still being talked about, streamed, and covered, cementing itself as one of the group’s most enduring moments despite its spontaneity.
Collaborations filled the gaps where a group comeback might have been. The Jellycat × Hiraeth project, a whimsical project built around Bartholomew the Bear (Kaia’s longtime favorite plush for those who remember debut days) is coming this October with a limited collection of plush toys with a brand new track, “Up & Down”. It's a playful and surprisingly clever move, one that is sending both fans and casual collectors scrambling to get their hands in this new collection. In July came the Better in Denim campaign for Gap, which dropped without warning and marked Hiraeth’s first major joint appearance in a hot minute. A fresh dance challenge, new styling, great denim, and a flash of group synergy? The internet ate it up.
It is also known that the members wrote their own storylines this year, of course.
Yaoyao, who’s slowly easing away from her stage names Yvan and Yvanna, has been unstoppable worldwide. Once a longtime darling in South Korea and China’s entertainment scene, she’s now a global force with her face and name everywhere. She fronted campaigns for Kiehl’s, Shuhu/Tong, Acne Studios, POP MART, Chow Tai Fook, and Versace, all while balancing a history-making film career. Her role as Glinda in Wicked not only made her the first K-pop idol to win an Oscar, but it also turned her into a Hollywood fixture ahead of Wicked: Part Two. Add in her co-created TBH mascot line, Cooogi, inspired by cookies and her puppy alter-ego, Yovi, and Yaoyao is proving that her artistry stretches well beyond the musical theatres, Inkigayo stages and her powerhouse vocals.
Poppy, on the other hand, took a very different route. Despite being the face of brands such as Miu Miu, Cartier, Jimmy Choo, Alo Yoga, and others, she was almost entirely absent from the public this year. Her only appearances were tightly curated— the showcase of her Gentle Monster prescribed eyewear line inspired by celestial imagery (and for "the hot blind bitches who can't see"), the yearly Avenue 777 episode, her brief but viral appearance at the 97th Academy Awards, a single magazine cover that is releasing this month, and the Gap campaign. And yeah. That’s it. But during the time she was tanning under the sunlight of Lake Como, it is known that she was working in music while also taking care of her health and cutting her hair short. Poppy produced most of Lucky Me, Kaia’s debut solo album, which went on to become a million-seller shortly after its release. With the record still charting well into 2025, her pockets are full, even if her calendar isn’t!
And then there’s Kaia, whose solo breakout has been nothing short of explosive and sun-kissed. Lucky Me delivered three global hits and pushed her into full it girl status despite the initial hesitation of her going solo. Fashion tapped in immediately, of course. She was the face of Dior, Tamburins, and Tommy Jeans already, but brands such as Shiseido, Graff, Innisfree, Dyson, and others, have all aligned with her this year, and she’s now as much of a fashion staple as she is a chart presence. For Hiraeth, the achievement is historic as she officially became the first member, and the first in the group’s history, to reach million-seller status with a solo project.
What’s next is the question on everyone’s mind. Kaia has dropped more than a few hints about new group music, fueling speculation that Hiraeth might be gearing up for something around their debut anniversary on October 28. Traditionally, their anniversaries have meant fan events, surprise drops, live shows, or exclusive merch, and this year, with the subtle build-up and clear momentum, the expectation is bigger: a proper comeback.
Hiraeth’s 2025 might look quiet compared to their earlier years, but quiet doesn’t really mean absence. They’ve played the long game, leaning into solo wins, cultural tie-ins, and carefully timed group moments. If this is the lull, fans know what comes next: the exciting storm! When will this happen, though? Who knows!

The video opens without the music, a car backing out of the driveway of a suburban, white picket house. Pick Me’s Kiko waves from the door, bidding her parents farewell. As soon as they’re down the driveway, she retreats inside, flopping unceremoniously onto the couch, immediately pulling out her phone to call “Bin😚” as we see on the screen. The phone rings once and the screen splits to reveal Neverland’s Dabin on the other end.
“Hey!” he answers cheerily, tossing a ball in the air and catching it with his free hand.
A smile spreads across her lips at the sound of his voice, a finger twirling in her hair. “Hey, my parents just left,” she kicks up a leg to hook her ankle over her knee, “Are you still coming tonight?”
The ball he tossed up falls against his chest, caught off guard by the question. His cheeks seem to flush pink at the implications, stuttering a reply, “Yeah, I’m there.”
“That’s great–” her smile grows thanks to his agreement until another voice cuts in on the other line.
“We’ll be there, Kiko!” the other voice calls out, clearly unwelcome from the annoyed roll of Kiko’s eyes.
Dabin’s side of the screen zooms out to show DeepDive’s Dowon and Stupid Cupid’s Jeanne messing around on the couch behind Dabin.
Jeanne seems to be trying to shush him with a hand over his mouth, unsuccessful as he dodges and wrestles her arm down. “We’ll bring booze!” she offers as reconciliation when she fails at shutting him up.
Kiko sighs, her unruly friends experts at wearing on her nerves.
“Sorry, Koko,” Dabin mutters an apology on their behalf, his expression sheepish but not making a move to deny them their interruption.
“It’s fine,” she huffs. “Just tell them to be here in an hour.”
“Got it,” he nods and his side of the screen is snuffed out as Kiko ends the call.
She lets out another annoyed exhale, hitting call on another contact labeled “KK.”
“Hiii,” Krush’s Kaleina greets over the phone as she slides into view.
“Come over?” Kiko asks, rolling over onto her stomach, her elbows digging into the plush brown leather.
“What happened to Dabin coming?” Kaleina asks, pressing the phone to her ear with her shoulder as she files her nails, perched on her bed.
“Dowon and Jeanne are coming too, now,” Kiko rolls her eyes again at the thought.
Kaleina lets out a snort of a laugh, her meddling friends always so predictable. “Right. Be there in 20,” she kisses the microphone end of her phone as a goodbye.
Kiko kisses back, ending the call and dropping the phone to the couch. She stands and walks out of frame, the camera slowly zooming in on the window in the back of the room, framing the shadowy dusk outdoors.
The music begins, the intro notes playing as a figure wearing a fox-like mask steps out of the shadows.
As the first verse ensues, Kiko’s guests begin to arrive. They’re setting up a bonfire in her backyard, Dabin and Dowon stacking wood in the firepit while the girls chat and stock the drinks in the fridge just inside the kitchen. You can tell by Kiko’s flushed cheeks and Kaleina and Jeanne’s grins that they’re teasing her for her failed plans of a night with Dabin. Eventually they all gather outside around the lit fire, bundled up in blankets, laughing and messing around. Dabin and Kiko share a blanket, cuddled up together, but they seem a bit shy about it. Dowon and Jeanne sit close together as well, occasionally play fighting over the room on their seat.
Kaleina stands and heads back inside, climbing the stairs to use the bathroom. She’s washing her hands in the sink when we see a figure wearing a bunny mask approach behind her in the reflection in the bathroom mirror. The last we see of Kaleina before the scene cuts out is her eyes suddenly widening when she notices the masked person behind her.
Jeanne is the first to notice Kaleina’s absence getting longer than usual and she decides to go see what’s taking her so long. Jeanne follows Kaleina’s footsteps up the stairs as the pre-chorus begins. The bathroom door at the top of the stairs is slightly ajar, and water is beginning to run out from under it, tinged slightly pink. As Jeanne slowly approaches, pushing the door open all the way, we’re met with a horrific scene. Kaleina’s body is slumped in the bathtub, her bloodied head resting against the running faucet, the water overflowing onto the floor. The water in the tub is red, a smattering of blood on the shattered mirror above the sink creates the vision of her face being smashed into it.
The music cuts out entirely, the only thing viewers can hear being Jeanne’s harsh and panicked breaths. A second later, she lets out a blood-curdling scream, transitioning right into the beginning of the chorus.
The same bunny-masked killer slams the door open behind Jeanne and she shoves them backwards, tumbling out into the hallway. Their body blocks the stairs so she runs the opposite way, towards the bedroom at the end of the hall. She’s just about to slam the door to the bedroom shut, nearly escaping the killer when their arm catches the edge of the door just in time to keep it from shutting in place. The pair struggle against the door when another figure steps out behind Jeanne, unnoticed as she fights tooth and nail to get the door shut.
The figure behind her, wearing a mask mimicking a crying boy with a crown perched on his head lunges forward and wraps their arms around Jeanne’s neck. They go lurching forward back into the hallway as the bunny killer wrenches the door from her grasp. As she struggles against the two figures, a knife flashes in the light before it’s sheathed between her ribs, red blooming on her sweater. She manages to shove the boy king off her back before she’s met with another knife to the abdomen. As she stumbles back, clutching at the blade sticking out of her stomach. The boy king regains their posture and shoves her over the banister to the first floor below. She falls in slow motion, her hair framing her wide eyes and gasping face before she crumples to the floor of Kiko’s entryway, just as the chorus ends.
The remaining trio outside hear the echo of Jeanne’s scream, their heads whipping to face the house where it came from. They exchange wary glances and Dowon shrugs, standing to investigate. He laughs it off, assuring Dabin and Kiko that it’s probably nothing. It’s obvious Kiko isn’t so convinced, but Dabin tightens his arm around her protectively as she anxiously grips the edge of the blanket.
Dowon heads inside, grabbing himself a beer from the fridge before venturing deeper into the house. He calls out Jeanne’s name to no response. As he rounds the corner into the entryway, he sees the pool of her blood smeared against the hardwood, but her body is gone. His brows furrow and his head swings around, calling out her name again. The scene cuts and we see a shotgun being cocked, raised to the eye of a mask that looks like a buck’s head, antlers protruding from the top. The trigger is pulled and we see Dowon again stumbling forward to his hands and knees, the beer bottle dropping from his hand and shattering against the wood.
He struggles to scramble away from the attacker, one hand pressed to the gunshot wound in his stomach. He slips on the mixture of blood and spilled beer covering the floor, broken glass an added obstacle as the killer slowly approaches behind him, cocking the gun once more. A heavy black boot comes down on Dowon’s back, forcing him flat against the floor. His head turns, eyes pleading with the masked killer. It’s the last we see of Dowon, the camera turning to the antlered figure raising the gun once more and squeezing the trigger.
The sounds of the gunshots have fully alerted Dabin and Kiko now. They jump up at the sound of the first, frozen and exchanging concerned looks, debating on what they should do. At the sound of the second, Kiko is frantically pulling out her phone and fumbling to call the police. Dabin slowly approaches the door leading to the kitchen from outside, but Kiko grabs his arm, silently shaking her head, pleading him not to go inside. He reassures her, his expression steeled in determination as he breaks from her hold. She hesitates for a moment before following close behind him.
The house is silent, but the pre-chorus builds once more as the pair enter cautiously through the kitchen door. Kiko’s hand is shaking, pressing her phone to her ear, but when she pulls it away to look quizically at the screen, we can see that she strangely no longer has any service. They’re on their own.
Dabin grabs a knife from the block on the kitchen counter, wielding it in front of him as he slowly moves through the house, shielding Kiko behind him. They pass through the living room, entering the foyer to find Dowon’s body. The camera angle only shows his unmoving legs, but there’s an ever-growing pool of blood surrounding him. We see Dabin’s face pale and Kiko covers her hand with her mouth from over his shoulder, clearly sobbing behind the build of the music.
The shock is short-lived as up the stairs a door suddenly slams closed. Dabin turns to Kiko, telling her to stay put as he investigates. She seems reluctant, shaking her head in refusal at first, but she stays behind as he begins ascending the stairs, blade still outstretched before him. Water is still flooding from the bathroom at the top of the stairs, tinged and flowing down the steps. He looks inside to see the same grizzly scene of Kaleina, paling impossibly more and sparing a glance at a fearful Kiko still posted at the bottom. Yet he moves on, still determined to find who’s responsible.
He pauses outside the closed door at the end of the hall, hesitant. He reaches out, opening the door to find another masked figure standing just inside, donning a mask depicting a cracked doll face, just as the chorus starts up again. Before he can lash out at them, an ax comes down on his shoulder. We see Kiko scream, poised to come up the stairs to his aid, but he manages to kick the attacker back once they wrench the blade from him. He calls for Kiko to run, swinging the kitchen knife in front of him with his other hand and clutching his wound with the other as he attempts to escape. Kiko hesitates for a moment before taking off back through the house, towards the backyard again. She nearly trips on Dowon’s body before she rounds the corner, running through the living room.
Kiko emerges into the backyard again, only lit by the kitchen windows and the fire still burning. We see her breath fog in the air as she turns around, unsure where to go next, what to do. The bridge of the song rises, the anticipation building in the shadows. We see Dabin rounding the corner of the foyer, limping, bloody, and knife-less, but alive. He’s halfway through the living room when we see the doll still pursuing, armed with the ax. He makes it to the kitchen doorway, nearly outside when they catch up to him, Kiko pointing behind him in a terrified warning. He turns just in time to catch the handle of the ax as it comes down on him, struggling with the masked attacker. He manages to push them back for a moment, but they kick in one of his legs, dropping him to his knees. Kiko can only watch in horror as the ax comes down once more, his body falling backward onto the grass. We don’t see his head, but the wooden ax handle juts into the air in front of the killer as the song’s sustained high note echoes.
Kiko turns to run again and finds another masked figure standing in front of the fire, their golden sun mask lit eerily from the back. She’s frozen for a moment, unsure of her next move. She glances backward quickly, finding the doll wrenching the ax back out of Dabin’s corpse, and knows she has to act. She turns to run towards the side of her house, away from the two attackers entirely, but towards that picket fence. It almost seems slow motion as the sun-masked figure pursues after her, gaining quickly, just as she reaches the fence. She slows to try and scale it, but they catch up and drag her back down, throwing her to the ground despite her struggles. A long bronze blade shines in the dim light as it is thrust downwards, into her abdomen. She screams as it’s wrenched back out of her, the attacker lifting her over their shoulder in a fireman’s carry. It’s a slow trek across the darkened yard once more, the lighting reflecting oddly off their gold mask and Kiko’s writhing form.
The gold glows even brighter as they stand over the fire pit, the previous masked figures beginning to gather there. It’s a strange scene that we just get a glimpse of in the shadows before Kiko’s body is being heaved over their shoulder again, into the firepit. Sparks swirl up into the night air as the camera angle zooms out, framing the house where the horrors will soon be discovered as the final words of the outro fade into darkness.

Finn’s death was never going to be timely.
Chloe never planned how any of her friends would die, but especially Finn. She knew he would die first, everyone knew that, but the matter of when was always unspoken. Chloe stares at her reflection, she can’t see herself despite standing right in front of herself. Whoever is in the mirror is tired, dull, drained. Her skin isn’t dewy like it usually is, her bleached hair for once doesn’t look like it was grown from her scalp, and her lips are chapped. She’s never had chapped lips in her life. Chloe blinks at herself, running her hands down the navy dress she picked just for this day.
This horrible, wretched day.
Chloe stares at her nails through the mirror, watching them scratch against the fabric then letting her fingers splay out. She’s in control as much as it doesn’t feel like it. She lifts her hand in front of her just to check her level of control. She feels so numb that she doesn’t understand how she’s moving. Her body isn’t her body, she fears it never was, but now she is a ghost. Chloe looks up at the ceiling, blinking rapidly before giving her head a shake. She needs to snap out of it. This isn’t who she is. She’s fought for years to have control again, she can’t let herself slip or let her grip loosen.
It’s a tragedy what happened to Finn.
Chloe wonders if he was ever going to make 30 or if this is how he was always going to die. Young and quiet, bleeding from his nose on the ground of his studio, songs still being written, computer still on, chair still warm from being sat in. This was always how it was going to be for Finn Lee she supposes. It makes her eyes burn, but Chloe shakes her head, telling herself to suck it up for now.
She hasn’t cried since she got the news. It’s been four days.
Today is Finn’s funeral, and she still hasn’t cried. She thinks of it as a game to see how long she can go without shedding a tear for the boy she loved, who is now nothing but ash in a jar. She blinks at her reflection again, curling her fingers in and flexing them out with a loud clear of her throat as she forces herself to turn away from the mirror and walk out of her room.
Her heels clack against the hardwood as she moves her lead-weighted feet towards her front door. She has a driver waiting for her downstairs. She knows she can’t drive when she’s like this. She doesn’t even feel connected to her body right now. She’s not dumb enough to put herself behind the wheel.
Chloe swears that everyone who even uttered a word to Finn showed up at his funeral. She stays kneeling in the front next to his weeping little sister, letting Bridgette hold her hand as her brittle shoulders shake with each quiet sob. She can see Klara looming nearby, hands interlocked in front of each other as Aiden stands behind her. Chloe can’t be bothered to look for Sena or Yoonah, but she knows Yoonah is here, probably standing with Jinhwa. She can’t think about that right now.
Finn Lee chose such a horrible time to die.
Chloe is stuck staring at the portrait of Finn his mother chose for this moment. There were over a million photos she could’ve used. He’s smiling warmly at the camera, a twinkle in his eyes that makes Chloe’s nerves burn; his hair is shiny and healthy, resting just at his brows and shorter than it was when he died. He looks happy and healthy in this photo. Chloe loves Finn so much that she thinks she might’ve made him look cleaner in her head. She ignored his dark circles, dull skin, and the fact that he needed a haircut. He always looked like Finn to her, but staring at this photo, which she can’t tell which year it was taken in, she realizes how much Finn had changed physically over time.
It makes her stomach knot up. She lets her eyes wander to the floor. A heat takes over them, the rug her knees have memorized the texture of, beginning to blur. Chloe clears her throat, looking up and looking off to where Klara stood, staring at her friend’s knees as she forces herself to blink back the tears. Chloe squeezes Bridgette’s hand, giving her a small shake to get her attention.
“I’ll be right back.” All Chloe whispers before standing, gently placing Bridgette’s hand at her side, before standing, walking faster than she usually would out of the room and to the left. Chloe places a hand on her throat, the more it swells shut, clearing it again and again and again to hopefully get just a single breath of air.
Chloe has to rest a hand on the wall as she walks out towards the bathroom, her breath getting slower and heavier as her legs begin to feel like lead. She needs to collapse, she knows it, but she refuses to let herself fall. Slowly, she bends over, wrapping an arm around her torso and digging her nails into her side. Her steps become staggered, slower and slower until she’s stopped next to a water fountain, a shaky hand covering her mouth as her eyes shut tightly.
She tries to tell herself to stop, to get it together, but all she can hear is Finn’s voice telling her it’s not that serious, to get up, not to mess up her makeup. It grating, each note of his voice scratching against her brain to make it bleed out memories of him she swore were long forgotten. Vague images of Finn with his head on her shoulder, smelling of cigarettes and shampoo. She can smell him so vividly in makes her nostrils flare, feeling a burning sensation that spreads through her body like a virus. Without care for her being in public, she hits the side of her head hard enough that white flashes behind her shut eyes. She takes a stuttering breath, forcing her eyes open and to blink at the carpet beneath her feet.
Stop, stop, stop, Chloe begs herself, shutting her eyes hard enough to see spots behind her lids.
“Are you okay?” A voice asks her, causing her to groan in disgust. Just the thought of someone seeing her like this pisses her off, but now that there’s someone actually looking at her and wondering if she’s okay, it makes her stomach feel as if it’s running up her throat. There’s a hand hovering above her arm, unsure if it’s okay to touch her. It’s not. Chloe turns her body to fully face the wall, hoping the stranger will get the message that she doesn’t want to be around anyone.
“Oh my god, Chloe?” It’s Sena. Her voice is ingrained in Chloe’s brain as well. It’s the only reason she lifts her head, watching one of her closest friends rush towards her with her hands out. Chloe pulls herself up, but takes hold of her arms to hold herself up. Sena looks at her like a deer in the headlights, tilting her head as she squeezes Chloe’s forearms.
“You’re red. Have you been holding your breath? Sit down, Chloe.” But Chloe shakes her head, turning away from Sena to be met with the chest of a man. She looks up to see who stands in front of her, and everything stops. She’s frozen, staring up with a sea in her big brown eyes, jaw dropped in horror.
Daeul stares at her, his eyes as wide and as mortified as hers. He looks at Chloe like she’s a ghost, and she supposes she is one to him. He looks both sick and scared at the same time. Chloe doesn’t know how to react, but a guttural “Oh my god” leaves her throat before she can stop it, turning away from both Sena and Daeul. She pushes Sena’s hands off her to put her head in her hands.
This has to be a dream. A nightmare. Something evil and twisted, she can’t imagine happening in real life. What did she do to deserve this? What sick game was this?
“What is he doing here? Why is he here?” Chloe asks in a whimper, her eyes tightly shut as her hold on her head grows tighter. She can feel Daeul backing away as Sena moves closer to Chloe, reaching to touch her, but Chloe flinches away. Breathing feels like something she has to think about now, coming out in loud and short pants. She puts a hand over her chest, shaking her head before Sena even speaks a word.
“He needs to leave. He needs to go. Make him leave. Make him–”
“Chloe, I don’t un–”
“Make him fucking leave, Sena!” Chloe shouts, opening her eyes to stare into Sena’s. Sena flinches back, blinking at Chloe like a scolded puppy who doesn’t understand what she did wrong. Chloe doesn’t care. She has a want to hit her, pull her hair, throw her to the ground, and call her a fucking idiot because that’s what Sena is. She’s stupid. She’s so fucking stupid.
“Did I fucking stutter? Get him out! Now!”
“I’ll leave–” Daeul tries to speak, and it makes Chloe feel like she’s been shot, causing her to turn further away from him.
“Just fucking go then!” She shrills, her eyes shut tightly, even though her back is towards him. Sena’s hands hover over Chloe’s shoulder, unsure if she should touch her or not. Even just the feeling of her near her makes Chloe yell brokenly, swatting her hand away. There are faint footsteps that speed up and rush over to the scene Chloe doesn’t want to cause.
“What’s going on?” It’s Aiden. His voice is firmer than she’s ever heard it. Chloe shakes her head, a sob tumbling out as her hand waves around, hitting Sena and Daeul in the process. Her fingers curl in whenever they touch him, causing bile to rise in her throat.
“Make him leave. Please, make him leave.” Her eyes are covered, preventing her from seeing anything but she feels the bodies around her shift.
“I’m lea–”
“What are you even doing here? You shouldn’t be here, Daeul.”
“I just–”
“I brought him with me. I didn’t think it would be a big deal. I’m sorry.” Sena says, sounding pathetic as she usually does.
“Look how well not thinking has worked out for you, Sena.” Aiden’s words are sharp and cruel, and for once Chloe can’t bring herself to care. She needs relief from this crushing feeling in her chest, from the horror film flickering on and off in her brain; she can’t take this. She can’t do this.
There are hands on her shoulders. She can tell they’re Aiden’s by how slender his fingers are, but she still can’t relax, sobbing and sniffling the more she leans against the wall, hoping and praying for the first time in years that she can get just a second of air.
“Fucking leave?” Aiden tells the pair like they’re stupid. One beat, two beats, three beats, and the pair finally leave. Chloe can barely hear Sena’s hushed apology, but she can hear her heels clicking away at a hurried pace. Aiden rubs Chloe’s shoulders, pulling her gently from the wall into his side. She can smell his cologne. It’s grounding, calming, even as she pivots her body to press her face into his chest.
She’s sure the small amount of makeup she put on smudges the harder she presses against Aiden’s chest, letting out a muffled yell that has Aiden holding tighter onto her small, trembling body. He rests his chin on the top of her head, squeezing her arms the tighter he holds her. He asks no questions, but it feels like he already knows, despite Chloe never telling him what happened that night. She probably never will. She doesn’t want anyone to know. She wants it to die and rot in the ground like a decade-old corpse of someone with no name.
Chloe lifts her head from Aiden’s chest, wiping her eyes with a series of sniffles and hiccups. She silently tries to collect herself, bottom lip shaking as she continues to wipe at her cheeks. Aiden watches her with sorrowful eyes, a hand on her bicep. They both hear footsteps, but neither of their empty gazes lifts from their aimless position.
“Is everything alright?” Jinhwa’s voice is like nails on a chalkboard, making bile rise in Chloe’s already tight throat. She takes a deep breath, looking away and at the ground, hoping Aiden takes the reins in a conversation she wants no part of.
Aiden, for a moment, says nothing. He waits for Chloe before awkwardly clearing his throat and rubbing his nose.
“She saw Daeul.” Aiden says the words like he knows the gravity of them. Chloe doesn’t have the momentum to question if people know what happened that night, that Daeul was there or what he did. She doesn’t want to care about that right now. She doesn’t want to care about that ever again, but it’s constantly shoved down her throat like she’s supposed to carry it every day for the rest of her life. Why can’t she be free of this?
Jinhwa goes dead still, like someone has cast a bell jar over him and sucked out all the air. For a split second, Chloe thinks maybe he hasn’t heard, or maybe he’s somehow already known, but then his mouth twitches in a way that makes her flinch. He nods at Aiden, his expression flat, but when he turns to Chloe, she sees something vibrating underneath, something huge and ancient and mechanical, an engine that could smash her into powder if she lets it.
"Chloe," he says, and she barely recognizes his voice. "Come here." He holds up a hand, not to touch her, but to beckon her forward like she’s a dog. She goes, because what else can she do? She feels herself moving through syrup, everything muffled and slow. Jinhwa’s scent hits her before his words do, acrid sweat and something like pepper, the faintest trace of whatever cologne he usually wears.
"Are you alright?" he asks. The words come out rough, like he’s sanded them down before offering them to her. When she doesn’t answer, he just looks at her, this endless, waveless stare that makes her want to claw her own skin off. Chloe shakes her head so violently that her hair catches in her lashes.
Jinhwa presses his tongue to the back of his teeth. She sees it. How he grinds down the sharp edge of his question, how he forces something softer. He reaches out, and for a second it looks like he might actually touch her face, like she’s a delicate instrument that has gone out of tune. But he stops himself. He always stops himself.
"Do you want to talk?" The way he says it, it isn’t really a question. He wants to fix this, or fix her, or maybe just fix the noise in the hallway.
Chloe looks at the floor, at the shitty geometric carpet Finn would hate, and swallows until her throat is raw. She thinks about the words she could use, the ones that don’t sound like a scream or a whimper. She wrings her hands together, wipes her knuckles under her nose.
"I want to see him," she says, barely more than a whisper.
Jinhwa doesn’t move for a second.
"You mean Finn?" He says it so quietly she almost doesn’t catch it.
She nods. Her hands are shaking, so she shoves them into the pockets of her dress, which feels like a joke; she hates dresses with pockets, always says they make it harder to hide her nerves. But there it is, the trembling, and the emptiness, and the sound of her own teeth clicking together when she clenches her jaw.
He exhales, long and slow, then gestures for her to follow. She goes, because that’s what she’s supposed to do, but she notices her knees aren’t moving right, the socket catching or clicking with each step. The closer she gets to the sliding doors at the end of the hallway, the more her body stiffens, as if her bones are refusing to let her back in. By the time they reach the threshold of the viewing room, the air feels like she’s swallowed a block of dry ice. There’s still a faint smell of raw lilies and some chemical disinfectant rising in sharp bursts every time the AC stutters on.
Jinhwa doesn’t say anything else. He just guides her back down next to Bridgette, who looks up at Chloe with her swollen eyes. Jinhwa hovers, a hand out to help guide Chloe down to her knees before backing away slowly, cautiously.
Chloe stares at the photo of Finn, in a suit, one of the rare times he wears one, his hair soft and jet black, smile lopsided. It was usually lopsided in Finn’s rare moments of joy, Chloe recalls. She’s seen this exact picture in his phone once, buried in a folder named "For Mom." He hates how he looks in it, says his head is too big for his body, but Chloe remembers thinking he seems at peace in that photo, like someone who’s been running his whole life and finally found a patch of sun to collapse in.
She folds her arms together, holding her hands in her lap so tight the bones ache. She doesn’t notice Bridgette’s hand creeping over until it’s already lacing through her own.
She keeps her eyes on the photo, as if the sheer force of her stare can make him walk out of the photo. If she just wants it enough, she thinks she can do it if she can just hold the tears back a little longer. The game isn’t over yet.
Bridgette’s hand is cold and clammy. Chloe squeezes it back, harder than she means to, but Bridgette doesn’t flinch.
“You were a good friend to him,” Bridgette barely even mumbles. Chloe thinks she imagined it. Still, she feels her bottom lip quiver, but she nods, small and meek. “He loves you very much.”
The present tense simultaneously calms and unsettles Chloe. She still can’t bring herself to look away from the portrait of Finn, biting the inside of her cheek.

ა ⠀ ♱ .⠀ MOTH SIGNALS was a fictional idol band formed and managed by Superbloom Media in 2017 and went on an indefinite hiatus in 2024. Superbloom Media was inspired to create a traditional rock band by the viral sensation LOOP 2002, which is where they would discover future member SALEM, then known by her given name PARK JUEUN. LOOP 2002 was formed by four high school students that busked and struggle to get their music out there. In late 2015, their third single H O M E gained attention from the underground indie scene before reaching mainstream audiences. Superbloom Media was looking for something new and exciting for their artist roster and what better than something never done before: a co—ed idol band. Soon, LOOP 2002 would go their separate ways with Superbloom Media and Jueun due to internal conflicts. For the next year, Superbloom's CEO, Shin Yeonghui, would test her newest batches of trainees to see if they met the criteria for Moth Signals.
ა ⠀ ♱ .⠀ On June 27, 2016, the first generation of Moth Signals would debut with a lineup composed of JUDE, SALEM, DOHUN, and OLIVER. This generation would only release two singles together—SCARED and MOUSE—which sold terribly. Moth Signals would be one of the worst selling acts of 2017 and due their unpopularity, they were placed on a hiatus to shuffle through the lineup. On September 17, 2017, the band would make their return with three new members: JUNYEONG, SERIN, and MINAJE. With these new members, they created the identity known today and some of the most loved early singles were released with them. The band would remain the same until internal conflicts caused Minjae to leave the band and an unconfirmed hiatus that would last a year and a half. They would return with I'M ALIVE and new member DEURIM. The group's final lineup would be composed of SALEM, JUNYEONG, SERIN, DEURIM and OLIVER.
ა ⠀ ♱ .⠀ Now known as THE NATION’S SONGBIRDS, the rise to stardom was not an easy one for the members of Moth Signals. When their first extended play dropped in 2017, they barely sold over fifty copies. Though their sales would slowly grow over the years, thanks to appearances on musical variety shows by the members, they would not have a hit single until 2022. Their first release after almost a year long hiatus, I'M ALIVE, would go on to top the charts and usher a new era for the members of Moth Signals. Since then, they have held on as one of the biggest idol bands in South Korea and have extended their influence internationally, selling out a world tour planned for 2024. Moth Signals are known for their melancholic lyrics and impressive instrumentals, often being hailed for having a song that fits any emotion and scenario.

hey everyone :) i’ve been feeling nostalgic lately and decided to rewatch some of hiraeth’s old content because i really miss them after watching them in the osaka date of the aengel theory tour. 😢
i’ve never really dived into their lore before bc, honestly, it seems like trying to understand the whole thing would give me a major headache lol but i’ve always been curious about their representative colors. they’re clearly super passionate about them, but i’m a bit confused. their colors seem to be different in their solo debuts: kaia is red instead of pink, poppy is blue instead of purple, and yvan’s green instead of blue.
i’ve seen a lot of angels talking about THE COLOR THEORY, but i feel like i need to ease into it… starting small, yk? the whole thing feels a bit overwhelming, lol.
i think it would make more sense if they stuck to primary colors (red, yellow, blue), but instead, we have green instead of yellow, and pink and purple instead of red and yellow. plus, the fact that their sub-units represent colors?? are those just as important????
any help breaking this down would be amazing! 😅

hiraeth’s lore revolves around circular concepts that symbolize cycles or loops, like the full moon (which they strongly embody) and the color wheels. their main and initial color wheel, as shown in their solo debuts, is based on the RGB COLOR WHEEL, featuring red, blue, and green as the dominant colors. these were the colors they represented before they created their own color wheel, way before they started rebelling against “i’s” doctrines. as they realized they were being constrained by someone else’s ideology, they decided to break free, and their colors transformed into softer, pastel tones because those were their colors instead of the colors they were given by “i”! hope this made sense! :)

both oomfies are right i fear!!!!!! 😭 but oomfie #1 forgot to mention that they also represent another color wheel that i will share at the end of my answer!! this one is centered around hot pink, cyan, and a cute caramel yellow. these are the colors of their subunits, and their colors were created by blending their individual and “initial” colors, with the leader acting as the influencer. for example, yvan is the influencer in caendy, which is represented by yellow/caramel. kaia leads vivae, with hot pink as its color. and poppy takes the lead in faevorite, symbolized by cyan.

those are not their actual colors!!! FOR WHY? because they were “assigned” the color wheel colors by the “god” of their world, but as they kept exploring and embracing themselves as their own persona + allowing themselves to fall into temptation + slowly but surely leaving “i’s” ideologies behind, they ended up developing their own colors. that’s why kaia is pink (formerly red), poppy is purple (formerly blue), and yvan is blue (formerly green). their colors are more pastel-like, thooo!! hence them creating their “own” color wheel that is basically all colors, just pastel and the main ones being pink, purple and blue instead of the norm “i” created :D

ok ok but before this post gets deleted or archived, i just wanted to point out that the color wheel is absolutely central to their entire lore!!!! if we consider the rgb color wheel, yvan and poppy mirror each other, while kaia stands apart as more of a “bystander.” she’s not facing anyone directly, but that only means she’s observing everything from her position, fully aware of not only her members’ experiences and whereabouts, but of everything. yvan and poppy may be equals, but they’re also pieces of kaia herself
like omg do u guys remember the theory that the angels represent the actual girlies? i feel like this is a HUGE nod to kaia being the leader and the group’s influencer. she’s the one who got them moving and encouraged them to step out of a dark place (which, in this case, “i” is acting as d*tto). she’s always been about letting her members shine, drawing inspiration from them as her muses. kaia isn’t just the glue that holds them together… she’s MOTHER!!!!!!!!!!
yvan is influenced by poppy, their equal. poppy is influenced by kaia, her “salvation”. kaia is influenced by both, her family. they just complete each other ok no matter the cycle they repeat ok?

➥ i think that’s also why poppy is the center of the group ^____^ she represents purple, which sits between pink and blue aaaaaalwayssssssss, it doesn’t matter who starts the new loop of their life!!!! poppy literally symbolizes the middle ground. this ties perfectly with the idea that the angel of spring represents the midpoint of life, stuck in one place and refusing to bloom as the balance between winter’s indifference and summer’s impulsivity.
