manga recommendation: Henyoku no Labyrinth

warning: super biased, some events might not be accurate bc i read these a few months ago and i forgot some of the details, really messy, a lot of spoilers, all lowercase, also i have to rewrite everything bc tumblr’s a bitch so read the whole thing, kay?

- basic art, typical shoujo manga art in the 2000s (?), still very pretty
- plot: the heroine found out that her sister was dating her long time crush and was super depressed, the next morning someone put a letter and a key in her locker, telling her to open the school’s rooftop with the key, she follows the instruction and went back in time?! later she found out that she committed “sewerside” in the present time (?) so her friends came back in time to prevent her from repeatting the same mistake again
- the plot was kind of confusing at first but they explained in later on, so i reccomend reading the manga at least twice to fully enjoy the thing. the time travel element was executed amazingly in this manga, i was really impressed by how the story connects
- major spoiler alert………………………….the male lead is actually the crush’s friend
- it doesn’t have that many emotional scenes but i still cried my eyes out lol
- female lead: her name is miyako, she’s your typical shoujo lead that cries easily and gets super red when they see their crush, the first few chapters make it seem like it’s another instant noodle type of manga, but it’s really interesting so like.. stay? she has great character development later on though
- male lead: tsukasa the tsundere shota ><, literally the cutest person ever but also hot bf material?!?! he’s in top 3 of my fav male shoujo leads (behind souji and akira ofc), genuinely the best person ever, and like who spends 20 years of their life trying come up with stuff to go back in time to save their crush?? yes literally no one, and that’s why he’s the best
- his smile is like sunshines and sparkles, also after the last time travel he turned into the teasing type of bf? still my type though ;) im spoiling too much but LOOK AT THAT HOTTIE?!?! (subs: what? did i make your heart skip a beat again?)
- the author or also wrote Chocolate Vampire (which sucks and is nothing compared to this manga btw)
- yeah highly reccommend, all of the characters are cute and lovable (except for hiroto ==), really nicely executed romance, the time travel element was very detailed and logical (TR lol), the chemistry was just off the roofs *chef’s kiss* READ IT RN OMG
