janey-whitmore:
The smallest of smiles that’d been put up to make him feel safe, to feel alright, faded from view and disappeared all together. Her face was as delphian and undefinable as ever or perhaps the expression wasn’t wholly unknowable as through the cracks and in her eyes you could see concern. Concern for someone who did not want her to be concerned about him. Then again there had always been those moments where he wouldn’t tell her anything but she had been there and would rest her head on his chest and touch alone would tell him he was alright. Or maybe in those days the smallest of touches had been for herself to tell her he was still there, still breathing and as long as she was that close nothing would ever tear them apart. She’d be his wife one of those days, she’d loved him with all the passion in the world and loved him more then she’d loved anything else in her own life and maybe, maybe even he had her thinking about what children would look like. They would raise them right, raise them strong and true and because she wasn’t a wolf he wouldn’t have to be afraid of losing her. Well… things changed. Everything had changed. Looking up at him and into his eyes, Janey lifted up her face and stared into his own trying to divine an answer to anything she wanted to ask. She was here for him. She’d always be there. “Are you going to tell me to go home - go back to New York Janey because no one here needs you? Or that you thought I shouldn’t be concerned? First of all I am always concerned about family, about the people I love and each and every one of the people I call family knows if they need me, truly need me I will be there. Secondly, New York hasn’t felt like home in a while. It’s where I live and work but it’s not home.” She said in a low voice whispering with an edge to her words only shaking her head not wanting there to be, not wanting him to think she’d only come to yell at him. She hadn’t. By god she hadn’t come here to do anything but make sure he was alright. The world without JD breathing in it was a bleak and hopeless little world and a world which Janey wanted no one else to ever have experienced. Ryan and Finley most of all would not be able to handle it. “Finley called me beside herself. I dropped everything and came running because she’s family. If ever there was a time she needed me it was right then and there and I came because I was worried about you. After all this time, I still worry about you, Cowboy”
It was always easy to ignore guilt when the person you wronged wasn’t around; just another demon to ignore while everything else fell to shit. But here she stood on her two feet that had weathered more then what most people would ever realize, and one of those things just so happened to be Jordan fucking Darius. “Yeah, that’s exactly what I’m going to tell you, Janey.” and yet despite his words there was no edge to his tone, no urgency throughout his expression that screamed the wolf wanted her to leave; it was the absolute opposite. How pathetic. For a moment the deputy remained quiet as he tentatively rubbed the back of his neck as his light blue eyes seemed to flick back towards her face that always managed to hold his attention in the way most people just couldn’t. “Finley needs you, you’re right about that.” he agreed while not confirming that at times he felt as though he did as well, despite all that had happened. “You shouldn’t, you know that, princess. And I know if I keep pushing you about it I’ll be met with that stubborn streak of yours, but you’ve got a job, Janey. A damn good job and a life ---- I’m fine. I’ll be fine. You know that.”
lailarenaud:
“Hello, welcome to Talbot Enterprises,” Laila hummed robotically, her eyes barely lifting from the screen as she completed her thirty-fourth solitaire game of the day. “I’m just about to clock out–” She still had fifteen minutes, but her boss never seemed to double check the time cards– “So unless you’re looking for a quick photocopy or directions, I’m so not your girl.”
“Actually I’m looking for Christopher, you know, CEO and all round grumpy cat.”
lara-talbot:
Lara held the cup in her hands, appreciating its warmth for a moment before taking a sip. She laughed haphazardly at the comment, nodding in agreement as she tucked a foot beneath her opposite leg, “Sounds like the perfect plan– we’ll stay on this couch ‘till even it’s dust and we’re a pile of bones. Mmm, actually yes, but you’re behind the times, Jordan,” the wolf teased, “no one uses flying cars anymore now that we’ve got teleporters.”
“Alert the hunters --- Lara Talbot can be killed eventually by sitting on a couch.” it was an attempt at a joke, even if the joke itself was a stupid one. “Huh, who would have thought we would go the way of the Jensen’s so quickly. Tell me; have they invented a way we can shower without actually showering? Because I’d kiss the person that figured that one out.”
elizcbethdrake:
“I almost kissed you for that! Thanks for the save, bud.”
“Keep those lips where they are, Lizzy. Jonathan would try and kick my ass if that happened.”
jessmorgcn:
“Holy crap,” the brunette let out as she noticed the reflection of someone behind her and instantly jumped. “Christ, you scared the living shit out of me.”
“Who knew you could jump so damn high, Morgan.”
loganmarshall:
“Day drinkin’ it is. Follow me.” It’s not like Logan was opposed to that either, given what had happened recently. It took him a second to grasp for some topic of conversation as they walked since all the inane small talk about how a person’s been or what they’d been up to wouldn’t work right now. “You know when you’re headin’ back to work?” That seemed about as innocuous as Logan could think to be right now, though it was still skirting around the issue. The hunter was apparently bad at this.
“Great.” the wolf replied as he fell into step with the other, glad for the subject change even though talking about work wasn’t much better considering his current state. “Whenever they let me. Gotta tick all the boxes and make sure old Deputy Darius doesn’t get scared of whoever might be round the corner and fire one off, you know? How’s your place doing?”
shelbyfontaine:
“Hey, no germs here, actually. And I think it’s rude, you’d think such a thing,” she quipped, perhaps an attempt to keep the mood lighthearted. She didn’t want to riddle him with questions, asking if he was okay or if he needed help; Shelby had figured he had been bombarded with that enough already. Though she still nodded her head in agreement, “Got it. Next coffee on me? It’s the least I can do.”
“You hang around with Ryan so much, there’s bound to be germs. Add it to the list.” this was good, he could do this; or at least he thought he could. “How about we make that a beer so this good mood thing we’re attempting stays longer, huh?”
dominique-demoriane:
Dom’s face went red at Jordan’s comment. She couldn’t deny that now that she had been the one to bring up the situation. “Whoa who says I’ve been flirting with both of you? I hang out with your brother on the regular and I had no idea. To be fair though one of you guys never said your last name, so I can’t be blamed entirely. “
“That red face of yours did.” the wolf pointed out while actually smiling; God, that felt good. “Or you just didn’t want to know, didn’t wanna see the resemblance. So, which one of us is better looking?? And remember, I’ve been through a traumatic experience so you’re obligated to tell the truth and say its me.”
vaughn-wilde-at-heart:
“I know what it is, I just never had any time to watch any of it growing up. I couldn’t tell you a single show, to be honest”
“Got into the stuff as an adult and yeah, got shit for it too; well, from my idiot brothers. Well, if you ever wanna watch some good one’s, gimme a shout and I’ll recommend the right one’s to ease you on in”
bentley-campbell:
A smirk pulled at the corner of his lips at the correction and it was then that Bentley brought his head up, giving is full attention to the older wolf, any awkwardness he felt before slowly faded with every minute they spoke. It amazed him how J.D made this feel comfortable. “Given. It was…um, not pretty.” The images of the fate that had befallen his friends will be forever seared into his mind and it was something Bentley would like to be able to unsee. However, that night will forever be remembered not matter how hard he tried, wanted to forget. “Oh, okay. Awesome.” At the question, he glanced down at his phone at the time out of simple habit. “—It’ll be five months come May.”
JD wasn’t the most responsible guy in the world, nor did he take a lot of shit seriously when he should have and while he wasn’t someone who could judge given his crooked ways; werewolves passing on the curse to humans royally fucked him off. “Ah, shit.”he replied while sighing heavily. “Now that’s something I can’t stand. You’re lucky to be alive; remember that.” words offered in absolute sincerity because JD knew how bad things were going to get, how living with the werewolf curse wasn’t pretty in the slightest, but there was a life to be lived; with the right help. Within a couple of minutes the cokes had been ordered ( of course the older wolf couldn’t help but order some fries for the both of them ) and his full attention was on the redheaded kid in front of him as he willed himself to push his own shit down in favor of the conversation they were both so openly having. “Eighteen years for me.” and boy did it feel like a hundred. “I won’t lie to you and say it gets easier, because it doesn’t, but it can be different. Manageable in the times where everything feels like its falling apart. Has Tate been helping you?”
braxrockwell:
“We’re only not related ‘cause neither of our parents could handle us as brothers.” Although cliche, he genuinely believed his statement to be nothing but the cold, hard truth— friendship, genuine friendship, was one of the hardest things to find, especially in a town like this and yet here they were, despite all the odds. Words had Braxton clenching his jaw together, looking down at the table they sat at as words were scrambled in his head; he didn’t understand why something like this would happen to JD, of all people. “You will,” he began, now tilting his head upwards to be able to look at his friend. “Shit takes time, don’t it? Can’t expect t’have fucked up shit happen to you and then be all good— gotta have your moment to be messed up, but it won’t last.”
His own mother couldn’t handle her children and he often envied Brax for the relationship he had with his own. God, there was no hiding anything from the guy that had always managed to be there as JD was there for him; as they always would be for each other. Though Brax’ words were one’s JD had been hearing over and over again from people that cared about him, they still held stock and meant a lot to him. “Yeah ---- I know you’re right, man. Its these times where we need that fucking Click remote, you know? Fast-forward everything, get it all out of the way.”
christopher-talbot:
Christopher thought about it long and hard for a moment, he knew it was a bad idea. But saying no would only lead to him going off alone and that was something he wouldn’t sit back and allow happen, not a second time. “ —- On one condition, you follow my lead and word. I won’t have you storming in there because of a vendetta only to put yourself in the firing line. Because that, would be playing into their hands and I have no intention of giving them such power.”
“Fine.” he begrudgingly agreed after a couple of minutes of silence, knowing he’d have more luck getting anything done under the guidance of Christoper; just like always. “Levi Fairchild.” he suddenly said out of nowhere, his shoulders seeming to slump under the weight of its name. “Barely knew that name till ---- do you know him?”
dominique-demoriane:
“Well then we better get on that, cause I hate being blown off. “ Dom smiled trying to keep the situation light. “ I’m sure. Jut thought I’d ask to make sure. Want to hear something hilarious?” She replied trying to distract him. “ It took me so long to realize I knew everyone in your family without making the connection. I felt so dumb” Dom laughed.
The change of conversation was greatly appreciated and the wolf was unable to hide the genuine amusement that managed to appear upon his face. “So what you’re telling me is that you’ve been flirting with both me and my brother and only just realized we were related, huh?”
braxrockwell:
“Yeah— brother from another mother, always good t’know that hasn’t changed.” Considering how truly easy it was for people to grow and change, Braxton was always happy to know the friendship between him and Jordan was truly something that could withstand just about anything— hell, they were brothers at this point, despite how easily replaceable the shifter thought himself to be. Shaking his head at his friends words, the shifter made sure to keep his voice lowered. “Weren’t gonna start talking ‘bout it— just want you to know that I know, and we can leave it at that for as long as you want.” It was enough, he hoped, that JD knew that Brax was there for whenever he wanted to talk about it, if ever.
“One of the few things that haven’t.” and one of the few things that never would, he knew that and sometimes it was those certain things that JD needed to rely on in moments such as these. “Course you know. Everyone fucking knows.” and it was Red Creek, this shit happened all the time and he should have been happy he hadn’t ended up like Gabriel and the others; he should of been happy. “Can’t fucking sleep, dude. Can barely eat. Just --- can’t get back to where I was.”
lara-talbot:
Lara stepped over an empty moving box, the two cups off coffee in hand as she handed Jordan his and sat on the couch crossed legged, snickering at his attire. “See– I was right about the Hugh Hefner robe after all. And I don’t think I’d ever get up from this couch if it was mine. I actually might not be able to either, just a fair warning.” It was comfortable and the coffee was warm and it was raining outside and it had been a long fucking week to say the least.
“Yeah, guess you were.” he agreed, half mumbling as he sipped on his coffee while looking straight ahead at the television that seemed to be stuck on random infomercials. “I won’t tell anyone if you don’t tell anyone that I plan on never getting up from it, okay? Anyway --- what’s the outside world like? Cars flying yet?”
vaughn-wilde-at-heart:
“I still don’t know what that is. Is it some sort of show?”
“Anime, dude. Don’t tell me you don’t know what that is either.”
