Making some cute little Christmas cards

I'm so excited about this.

There is a lot to this medallion... it is a commemorative piece for my father. I chose to interpret my own watch face because of my dad's impeccable time conscious attitude and also to juxtapose his strength and hard working lifestyle to the way a clock works. The hands are set at 7:14 which has forever been our family's time. No matter what dad has done throughout the day or how tired he is he always makes time for us. The patterned dome represents his creative side which never ceases to amaze me. He is fun and crazy and easy going. I am so excited to give this to him for Christmas.

Stoked about this piece for my dad.

The pattern was designed in a software to create a 3d print. From there the 3d print was invested to form a mold and then centrifugal casted with bronze. The watch hands and chain are fabricated in nickel. After a lot of clean up the two pieces were connected with micro bolts and then darkened.

Final bronze pieces for my first casting project. I filled the copper boxes with a little moss for a pop of color.

The pieces represent my family. Ever since I can remember my dad has referred to us as the Eaker tribe which is why I chose to cast native american arrowheads and carve in the 6 symbols. A sun and moon to represent my parents because they lead the way and you can’t have one without the other. Lightning for my brother who seems to bolt in and out of my life. Rain for myself because I strive to nourish people’s spirits and give when I’m needed. A mountain for Rose because she is so grounded, strong, and faithful. A river for Hannah because she goes with the flow and has such a graceful spirit and so much strength and wisdom.

1x1 inch copper constructed boxes with stands, liver of sulfer and engraved.

All that’s left is to fill the bases with clay, moss, and maybe small pebbles.

I borrowed authentic arrowheads from an archaeologist on campus. Eventually these casts will be made into 6 pieces representing a chess set.
