The critical moments in my story are the temptations of sugar.

The story is about addiction and how it affects you and other people. But also about that, it is hard to change for someone else, if you got no inner motivation and reason to change.

The first temptation is thinking about the sugar, which leads the character to take it. The second critical moment is having the opportunity to take it, but the audience doesn’t know about the outcome of the decision. 

Te Va is the connection between health and the consequences of behavior for other people. The character changes from happy to unhappy and faces the consequences of the drug abuse.

DSDN 101

My A4 drawing influence includes two cultures or movements. The maker movement means, that nowadays people are not only consumers, but they build what they like to have from a technical standpoint. Therefore I show a lot of technique and insight into my object to show how it is functioning. I also use a logical abstraction of code in the background. The second movement is Buddhism and New Age. Buddhism was always a more interpreted as a philosophy as it shows a way to get to enlightenment. I use the symbol of meditation and enlightenment. I also balance the picture with the positioning of the objects. The code is a floating pattern in the background which also shows some kind of consistency and harmony.

DSDN101 After reflection with Cam.

This abstract drawing of a plug contains the symbol of energy as the rotating form (illusion) and the shield at the right bottom. All the geometric structured forms are taken from the shapes of the plug. The forms focus on balance. There are two diagonal lines going through the picture. Also, some parts like the resistances and shield include symmetry. Contrast sets layers whose hierarchy are determined by the crosshatching. The focus point has the most contrast of in the picture and seems to be of the highest hierarchy. The background contains dots which are like particles surrounding the plug.

DSDN101 This is my abstract drawing. I took the techniques of the previous in scale drawing. The dots were the structure of plastic before and the crosshatching resembled the metal. Now the dots are the background and the shapes are filled with crosshatching. The weal in the middle stands also for energy. Since the original object is a charger, the spinning rotation included in this picture represents power and energy. The different crosshatching emits also a feeling as if there are different layers of the forms (hierarchy). I also chose to balance the picture with the elements included especially with the direction and black elements. There is also contrast included. The obvious eyecatcher has the most contrast and seems to be the highest in the hierarchy. Te little element on the right bottom looks like a shield and reminds me that all these plugs are normed (DIN, ISO). The little floating rectangles are the resistance and resemble the inner parts of the plug.

DSDN101 progress of my abstract drawing. I mainly took the geometric shapes of the outlines and repositioned them.

DSDN101 this is the most abstract drawing I did. I thought about rhythm and the geometric forms my object contains.

DSDN101 abstracting my object. At first I thought about devising the object into sections (top, right) and put them in an asymmetrical way. Then I thought about devising it into geometric shapes so it almost looked like shattered glass (top, left). The next one is an abstraction where you can see the stroke of the pencil the contraction lines shape the proportion (bottom, right). Then I thought about Symmetrie and repetition (bottom, left).

DSDN101 This is my final version of the 5 belongings I had in my pocket. I decided to add a little crosshatching shadow to the objects.

DSDN101 this is my drawing for a timelapse or transformation over time. This is the transformation of a vegan burger made by Burger Liquor in Wellington.

DSDN101 this is my object in scale. The measurements taken before are the foundation of the drawing itself. The inside of the object is partly fantasy partly inspired by technical drawings of plugs.

DSDN101 this is the object I observed transform during time passing by.

DSDN101 this piece resembles for me the design principle of balance. The picture is not symmetrical but it is formed like an S curve which balances the white space around the picture. What I like about it is, that here the principle is not obvious in the center of attention. It just creates a natural flow for the picture and plays also with the weight of the woman and the shopping cart.

DSDN101 this piece represents for me the principle of symmetry. The artist plays with the symmetry of the face of a wildcat. But there are also little details of asymmetry like the diamond on under the right cheek. But there is sort of balance with the triangle in the left eye. In the background, there is more clearly asymmetry included. Normally we as human beings tend to find people with symmetric faces more attractive.

DSDN101 this piece represents for me the strategy of contrast for organizing the picture. The two main elements are the figures in the front. So this is where the most contrast is in the picture can be found. Also white elements seem on top or in the front. The background is with color, but if you would tun it into a grey scale, you could see the effect of the contrast and it’s effect of the recognition of the foreground and background.

DSDN101 This piece represents for me the design strategy of geometry. The artist plays with the shape of diamond and triangle to create the impression of a 3D Model of a cube. If you look at it without the experience of a 3D world, you could suggest that this is just colored areas. But with our experience of shadow, light, and shapes we see a 3D form of finite and infinite cubes in this.
