— from small town south with big city dreams, Lydia knew she was destined for the bright lights, she just had to figure out how to get there. working hard in school, joining committees both in her high school and the community, she found herself taking part in teen advocacy groups and gaining traction on movements she was passionate about. she left high school with multiple volunteer spotlights and recommendations for multiple schools.

— pursued her bachelor’s in social work at Fordham in NYC and then her MSW at NYU and worked as a case manager while she finished everything else. she enjoyed continuing to advocate for her community and provide a sounding board that had a bit of pull. still, she struggled to make ends meet in college and even with scholarships, she needed to find a better way to get through her undergrad. Lydia took on the alias Lola and started an OnlyFans account where she’d perform pole dance routines, take photos and eventually video. careful not to show her face the allure of her page became the unknown. before she knew it, she had more money than she knew what to do with after bills were paid.

— she put that funding towards community groups and charity, to her family’s farm and stored some away to move once more to a different coast. NYC had been a fun adventure and she grew a lot both in her career(s) and as a a person, but she needed a change.

— moved to LA for the better weather and bc she was doing OF on the side, it gave her more collab opportunities. the community she was in was pretty tight knit, but even so it was clear to her it was pretty toxic. the industry is the industry and while she enjoyed the financial freedom she had, she knew it was time for her to start winding down. in LA she volunteered counseling and trauma services, worked with underserved communities, and supported shelters under her pseudonym.

— when she finished her supervisional hours, she was able to start working for a practice in LA, soon moving to AB when she decided the trauma of big cities was too much for her and the case load was overwhelming and she wanted balance. the toxicity of the sex work industry had finally gotten to her, and while she knew it was a larger problem and she had made a few good friends, it was time to bow out. besides, she wanted to start focusing on her career and being a pillar for other people without having a secret of her own hanging over her. she enjoys the time she gets to spend with people one on one and providing a safe space, when she got the opportunity to work with an individual counseling practice in AB, she jumped on it.

— upon settling into AB, she easily built up a caseload for individual counseling but also continues case management on a PRN basis since it’s still something she enjoys; just wants less of. Still has her OF but it’s very sporadic and she’s bringing that chapter to a close as soon as she finishes paying off her condo, which she’s very close to doing.

— close with her mother but not so much her father. they never understood each other and it’s something she’s trying to reconcile. they do not know about her work in the sex work industry she started in or her work in the porn industry and she chooses to keep it that way.

— an emo kid at heart, for awhile in her teen years she thought she was going to be a pop punk queen. while that has since faded, she still enjoys singing and blasting the good stuff

"Yeah! It was pretty cool!" She smiles. "I really missed New York, I got to see some old friends, sit in on some conferences, went back to my favorite deli." Lydia babbles for a moment, pausing to let Gus sniff a bush before continuing on. "I am glad to be back though. I missed my bed and I forgot how much better I sleep without having to block out all the noise."

"What about you? How did your mid-summer go?"

"Is the flower arch too much?" Iris wondered aloud, looking to the entranceway of her shop. "Or is it not enough? I was thinking like, it could be seasonally changed too, you know? With all the upcoming months being decoration-heavy and all.."

Lydia sips on her iced coffee, head tilting a bit as she takes in the new decor that accents the entrance. "I don't think so. It's pretty subtle as far as like, the seasonal colors go?" She shrugs. "I think too if you switch it up with the seasons or holidays it could be fun. Ooo!" She suddenly beams. "Like with Halloween! Oh that could be so cute with some little pumpkins at the bottom?"

It only came as a dreadful realization that Finn had wandered out of Ocean Crest’s main doors without his keys to get into the building when he pats his sides and finds that he has no pockets. Mostly because he is wearing only his boxers and an oversized Looney Tunes t-shirt, he stands there barefoot except for his mismatched socks. Stranded outside the door, with no phone and no dignity.

One look over his shoulder tells him Maddie is long gone from the parking lot, but he does catch sight of hopefully a resident. “Hey! Hey, sorry, I don’t have my key to get in.” He gestures to the door, pulling it by the handle as if to demonstrate. “Can you let me in? Even if my apartment is locked, I would just rather be inside to figure it out.”

As much as she enjoyed going back east for a stint, she did enjoy coming home. Maybe she'd take time away from the sunshine stay more often, feeling rejuvenated and with enough new perspective to take on the challenges at work and her personal life. She fiddles in her purse for the keys to her colleagues apartment, having agreed to swap plant-sitting duties while each was on vacation.

The familiar face pulls a smile across her lips, eyebrows raising as she takes in the sight of Finn, a small laugh leaving her. "Jesus. Rough night?" She asks, jingling the apartment keys and nodding for him to follow her.
