DOT!

“Hey!” Dot yelled, over her frantic panting. She crouched down to run her hand through her short, brown hair and across her sweating temple. She breathed in for three seconds, then out for six. In for four seconds, out for eight. In and out, in then out.

When she was finally composed again, Dot got up and began sprinting after who she was in search for. “Hey,“ she repeated, caught up with the one in front of her. “You think you could, uh, slow down a bit? I’m working off of four hours of sleep and a bag of chips.”

« adventure waits for no one! just work your butt off and hurry up. » she was as chip as ever, prancing down the path down to wherever it took her. truth be told, she was in no rush, but seeing the other try and catch up was just the tiniest bit funny and kiara simply couldn’t help herself! after all, she knew the feeling, especially when it came to playing with her older brother -- still, unfaithful to her word, she would slow her pace down just a tad, a breathy laugh curled from her lips as she looked behind with an eager smile. « you gotta work up your diet then! burgers sound good to you or are you more of a salad kinda person? either way, i’m pretty hungry. » she mused.

BAMBI!

he keeps his head down on the pillows, long lashes slowly fluttering open to welcome the sight of the ever so familiar face looking down on him, admiring her visuals and capturing the smile on her lips in the sparkles in his brown eyes, memorizing her face as best as he could, in case he would desperately need to remember it later on, when she wasn’t around. they didn’t often get to see these sides of one another. quiet and cozy, sprawled out on the same level as one another. and she was pretty, so pretty his cheeks turned pink ( luckily the dim room hid his blush, so she wouldn’t see how the butterflies kissed his face, or know they existed, unless she were to touch the skin that had become noticeably warmer than the rest ). “wont you get in trouble for skipping?” he expressed genuine concern for his friend, stretching a leg out with a babies yawn squeaking through his lips. he didn’t want her to need to get up as much as he wanted to stay forever in that moment — in the early minutes of waking, remembering that he wasn’t in his own bed, that he wasn’t alone. “are you warm enough?” his voice continued to hum quietly, his body shifting, a leg brushing against hers before retreating shyly, his arm moving from her shoulder to her waist, squeezing her side against his own.

his fingers brushing against her waist earned the softest of giggles to curl from her lips. not that it tickled, of course, but the action. the intimidate pull against himself with her hand resting coyly against his chest. there was something peaceful in everything he did -- from the flutter of long lashes to the shy smile against his lips ( that seemed almost too lonely ) kiara watched his movement through heavy lidded eyes as she relied only on her touch. he smells so nice too. nose buried in the crook of his neck, she unconsciously took a large whiff. like springtime. before quickly pulling away in slight embarrassment. « nah, my lecturer’s so old he probably wrote the manuscripts he’s teaching us about. he won’t notice. » that wasn’t necessarily true but hey, bending the truth just a little wasn’t going to harm anyone ( especially since she had a perfectly good reason to stay in bed now. ) « i’m absolutely perfect. » her voice was a soft purr, moving in close to him with eyes closed in content and a permanent smile tattooed on her lips. she was a wild-child: full of life, never stopping and almost always craving a sense of movement but when the world slowed down like this, she didn’t mind not doing anything so much. « do you want to get breakfast at some point or..? » she didn’t mind. breakfast or not, the cliche “you’re all the energy i need” teetered on the tip of her tongue but that was a little too much for her taste. and suddenly the urge to give his cheek a soft kiss arose and she was hooked.

« c’mon it’d be fun! » she groaned. as much as she enjoyed falling into the same cycle every single day of her life, the thirst for adventure still fresh against her tongue. the smallest pout had painted against her expression as kiara tried her best at the classic “puppy dog eyes” which seemed to work in the beginning. or doe eyes. whichever they thought suited best. but when her looked sparked with an almost desperate twinkle in her eye and the cheeky smile curled against her lips, she knew her small attempt at “cutesy wootsey” wouldn’t work. « you never know unless you try this stuff out and what could be worse? i’m not staying home with you and eating caramel corn again. » / OPEN.

BAMBI!

still half asleep, bambi barely knew what the room he lay in looked like as the sunlight crept in through the small split in the curtains that had been pulled shut in a dash the night before. he was warm and comforted by the light breathing of another person and didn’t dare wish to open his eyes to change a thing about it. delicate mumbles were all he could offer as the pair cuddled under the sheets, skin touching skin, hearts beating together, contempt with the company. kiara was much softer than she liked to lead on, and bambi may have been the only person to completely draw that out of her ( courtesy his own softness that would welcome hers open arms ), a suspicion he cherished greatly. “i don’t want to get up.” he tells her honestly in a whisper, stroking her shoulder with a thumb belonging to a long arm he’d curled around her in return as the inched closer. “can we stay here all day? i don’t have work today.”

she didn’t want to move; she didn’t want to open her eyes or let go of her sleeping friend or even scratch an itch. perfect peace surrounded the room with the soft sunrise that crept through gold curtains and the morning chill only barely creeping against her legs. not that she could feel it entirely. body heat shared between two that kept her warm along with the blanket laid on top of her and the arm wrapped comfortably around her shoulders. it was the least to say that it was the first time in a long time that kiara had fallen into utter bliss as she listened to the soft chirp of the birds just outside her window. however, she couldn’t fall back asleep, instead watching the shadow of leaves move slowly just outside. -- the silence in the room was then broken by an equally soft voice, lower than a whisper that was like a breath against her ear. « i don’t wanna get up either.. » she muttered groggily against his chest before propping herself up lazily to look him in the eyes ( soft doe eyes that could melt the hearts of anyone who stared too long ) before cocking her head to the side just a tad. a small smile played alog her lips. « i guess i can skip class for a day... »

picking up the little lion stuffed toy nestled in the back, sudden excitement should fill her up as she looked at her best friend with a twinkle of mischief in her eyes. « you know what blatantly cliche thing we could do right about now? » she quipped, bright yet cheeky smile curled against her lips.

GASTON!

Gaston’s stomach was rumbling, far too much. But the problem was, he didn’t have time to run out and get food. He moped around the precinct, pouting, being a grumpy sour puss. Merely eating a bag of chips he’d shoved into his drawers wasn’t enough. It wasn’t going to do the job. There was far too much to do and far too little time for him to eat. People came in and out, but no one brought him food. Gaston really wanted food.

Behind him, he heard someone’s voice and turned to look at them. When he realized who it was, he groaned, shaking his head. “What do you want?”

« well, i’m happy to see you too. » tone dripping with sarcasm, she rolled her eyes before taking a seat on his desk, brown paper bag clasped tightly in hand. kiara had best friends, friends, enemies and the worst of the worst. gaston was neither of them. simply someone she enjoyed irritating as much as possible but whether she was asked if they were friends -- she’d only be able to muster out a scoff. however, they’d fallen in a bizarre routine. one she wasn’t quite sure how it started but hey, it would benefit them both.

« i brought you lunch but if you don’t want it, then it’s all mine. » showing him the insides of the bag ( a blt with extra bacon ) she quickly snatched it back and held it close to her chest. « i don’t mind keeping it -- since you obviously hate me that much. »

she wouldn’t even grace his joke with an answer, instead simply giving him that look -- the age old sign of annoyance that he had surely gotten used to by now. but it hadn’t taken kiara long to find herself pushing him off the bed as hard as she could, using every ounce of muscle she could find! « get outta here with your cheesy knock-knock jokes! » she laughed, finding it hard to keep up the serious act.

« i like to think i say pretty cute stuff when i’m awake too. » she offered a cheeky grin, though a soft blush had the courtesy of grazing against her cheek bones. as curious as she was to wanting to know exactly what she had said, kiara knew better than to just straight up asking for it! you didn’t need to add the little hint of desperation everyone had when wanting to know something they did unknowingly. still, sat up on her bed, she looked down at her company, head cocked to the side. « ... was it really cute though? » she just couldn’t help it! she adored feeling the way she did when she was complimented like so though she also didn’t like being treated like a baby. really, it was a complicated little situation she had going on there. however, her hand soon came up to start poking gently at la’s side, almost in a way that could tickle her if she was ticklish enough as a softer smile curled along her lips. « too bad no one writes down all the things i say when i’m asleep ‘cause i would have the best book of quotes right about now! »

“Your feet are freezing.”

« my feet are not that cold! » that was a lie. they were extremely cold. she wouldn’t be surprised to find icicles hanging off her toes. but no matter, her eyes went back to her phone, a cheeky smile curled against her lips as her feet grazed the other’s leg once again. that was the problem with having a bed as small as hers, you couldn’t avoid physical contact whether you tried hard or not! but that had never been a problem for her, and the body warmth was always pleasant enough. cuddling wasn’t unwanted either! « but if you really wanna feel something cold... you should feel my fingers! » and she gave her friend barely any time to react before fingers savagely started tickling the redheads sides with absolutely no mercy. her own giggles where mixed in and after what could have almost felt like a decade, she pulled back, wide grin along her lips as she went back to tapping on her touch screen. « and that, my friend, is exactly why you should never say my feet are freezing! ‘cause my fingers are even worse. »

« i do not say scary stuff in my sleep and you’re just a big baby. » that was a lie. she knew she had the habit of randomly spouting things in the middle of the night like wishing roommates “ good luck “ on the way to the bathroom during the wishing hour. but nothing particularly odd! besides, half the time she would usually do it on purpose, just to get the reaction she wanted from her friend who slept too close to her without nearly enough room on her side anyway! « if you wanna hear something scary, you should listen to the sounds you make in your sleep -- i thought there was an earthquake, then i thought you were snoring... then i smelt it. » the memory sent an ice cold shiver down her spine as she refused to remember any more of it. her foot had already climbed up, digging into his side as she attempted to push him off the bed. « you kept on stealing the blankets too! this is why we’re never ever having sleepovers ever again. » that was a lie, of course. nick ( along with melody, of course ) was one of the only friends with who she could truly let her wild side out. she’d just have to pull out an extra blanket next time.

« i genuinely don’t know if your head would fit through my door though? » her tone was witty, complimented by the teasing smile that curled around her lips. there was a pleasant feeling boiling down in her stomach -- she was glad that she managed to have her friend back! but something ( call it instincts ) screamed at her not to let it in. kiara had killer intuition, however this one seemed uncalled for. sure, her brother had told her to stay away from the likes of the shadow clan. and yet, she still seemed drawn to kovu. after all, friendship with a bad boy sure would have been interesting. however, she was more than hesitant about letting him into her room for god knows what reason. « you’re not allowed to enter my room unless you’ve got a coupon so cough that up and maybe i’ll change my mind. » her voice was chirpy, yet relieved to have found an excuse instead of flat out saying now -- besides, if her brother had caught wind of any of that she would definitely not allowed to leave her room let alone have anyone in it.

it was the third night in a row that she hadn’t been able to sleep. something about her father. she hadn’t been there during his passing, nor did she know exactly what happened by a bizarre image kept reoccurring in her head: something to do with murder. it frightened her enough to keep awake, mornings met with large bags under her eyes and the false sense of security she knew would disappear until the next night. now, kiara wasn’t one to talk about her fears -- as far as she knew, there weren’t any to be voice out! but when her friend had asked about the zombie-like trance she’d been all day, she picked up the nerve to tell him. and his response was shocking. there was something that always took to her when friends offered their kindness and this wasn’t an exception. she looked at him, with tired eyes, and almost in the blink of an eye did arms wrap around him in a hug. face buried against his shoulder and certainly the first time she could breath, kiara was only able to muster out a muffled « thank you... » because she could not express her own gratitude.

“I love cuddling with you first thing in the morning.”

she liked having sleepovers. she liked having sleepovers with her friends, going to bed late at night and waking up to pleasant bearings. but most of all -- she liked having sleepovers with bambi. no doubt that the boy was soft at heart as he was with touch and there was something oddly comforting about slowing down your pace a little to let yourself be consumed by a gentle presence. and that’s exactly what he was. « you’re so comfortable you know. like a pillow! » she purred, cuddling more into the nook on his neck with arms wrapped tightly ( maybe a little too tightly ) around his chest and pulling him closer. kiara was well aware of the contrast between their personalities but during the morning, none of that seemed to matter. not like it did in the first place. however, the longer she lay there, perfectly content with everything, the less willing she was to move as eyes closed once again and she fell back asleep with head on his chest.
