Continued coping through artwork.
I've had this little pencil case sitting around for ages intending to paint it. Finally got around to it.
Got the Krylon spray on to seal it. I forgot to prime the nozzle so it got a few globs on, but my partner pointed out it looks a bit like dust motes which Night loved to watch, so it works out in the end.
Couldn't quite get the highlights due to an overabundance of what I would consider "warm blues" in this watercolor set, but I am trying to at least sort of get myself painting again. Trying to just get shapes and let go of detail sometimes.

I see all the cute hellspawn art with Astarion cuddling on top of Karlach but consider: she deserves to cuddle on top sometimes too
Toyed around with different brushes than usual, the result of which being I captured his color well, but I still think I like the sketch version better. Might retry coloring it later but… not tonight.
hello fellow artists. google has fallen. pinterest/duckduckgo AI filters don't work. do not despair; here is a list i made of places to find reference images without having to sift through piles of worthless garbage. (for future editing convenience i am just linking my blog post on dreamwidth.)
✨ good places to find art reference that are not full of AI trash 🌈

THANK YOU
Finally finished this piece of Tenjin, one of my dragon characters for a still-in-planning-phases fic set in @authorjessowen's Silver Isles, several generations after the events of the current series (so I have room to sandbox it a bit).
Glad I got the shading on the white right on the first go because I PUT IT ON THE WRONG HECKIN LAYER.

Because Tumblr is weird and won't let you upload more than one video per post.
Noodling around with all 5 filled fountain pens and watercolor paper tonight. There's a bit of shimmer lingering in the sun and trees.
Colors used include: Wearingeul Captain Hook, Lamy Amazonite, Diamine Bah Humbug, De Atramentis Velvet Black Gold, and whatever cartridge came with the Lamy (color looks like maybe a match for Bentoite?)

I'm a bit stuck and need suggestions
I received a sketch pad for Christmas ... it's ... unconventional to say the least
The pages are ...brown, not white
I dont know what to do with it, or what media to use
Help!

So brown paper can take normal pencil, charcoal, things like that AND white. So it's a great medium for sketching cause you can do highlights. Oil pastels are another good option, or some kinds of paint (acrylic or goulash).
When I did some theatre work we'd prime our set background grey rather than white before whatever colour/pattern we needed cause it helps a wider range of colour stay true to their colour and not need so many coats.
Going to second the suggestion of charcoal and add chalk pastels/pastel pencils to that list:
Some high-pigment colored pencils work well on brown paper too. I think??? the second image there was a mix of pastel and very pigmented colored pencils but for whatever reason I don't have it written down anywhere (usually I put medium in my artist descriptions back when I still posted on DeviantArt but it's not there).
