The Boarding School - Manifesto Jay Preface
Wc : 850
If the idea of going to a boarding school was stressful, it was nothing to Hartworck Boarding School.
You had arrived only thirty minutes ago in your parentâs old suv, but you were already forced to dress in your new uniform.
The principal Mr.Obare has been showing you around the school, proudly showing to your parents the architecture, while they were falsely enthusiastic about visiting such a shameful place.
None of them had smile to you since you got expelled from your previous high school, you knew you were their worst mistake after their wedding.
At the end of the visit you opened the unknown door and bit the inside of your lips to not complain about the state of your new room, a bare single bed in the corner of it and a small dresser both made in a old dark wood accompanied by the musty smell of dust.
You had glanced at your mother, still holding onto the small hope that you will leave this rusty place with her if you promise to be nice, but she ignored you again.
Your parents had left you, you were spared the rest of the afternoon to settle in your new space while the rest of the students were in class. You opened the window first, the smell was burning your nostrils.
It took you not even an hour to unpack, not because you wanted to be quick, but because you didnât brought a lot.
A few exterior clothes, for some potential days out, you had looked up, there was a small town âonlyâ 40 minutes away in a bus ride that passes only twice a day.
Nothing much more, because you had nothing to bring to a place like this, where everything is controlled.
You were staring at a patch of grass from your window when you felt it again, the feeling of someone watching you,it began the moment you were alone in this room. You looked around the bottom of the buildings but no one was there.
The feeling persisted, it was too heavy to ignore but everyone was in class.
Itâs only after a small laugh from the roof of the building in front of you that your eyes reached the left top part of it.
There, leaning into the fence, was a boy.
Staring at you with what looked like a smile, his face was blurry with the distance but you did notice a blueish tint to his short hair. âYouâre the new girl ?â His strained voice screamed.
You were about to answer when the rain started pouring in heavy cold drops, blocking your voice to the boy.
He stared at you a bit longer before rushing away to , probably, shelter himself inside.
The worst part here was entering the cafeteria and being stared at by a bunch of problematic kids stuck three trends away from looking like actual teenagers.
You knew youâd eat alone a few times, but in this kind of school everything is known in minutes. Being alone meant being a loser, and being new doesnât make you that special. Few people gathered around you but never close enough to talk to you, like you were a dog that could possibly bite.
You tried to eat and not care but your eyes wandered to find those dark blue hair, the one who would come to you, but instead you kept seeing eyes towards you.
Finally, a girl came to you, sitting in front of you, on her hair was a high bun with the curliest blonde hair coming out of it. She introduced herself, she sleeps on the dorm in front of yours. That Francesca introduced you to some of her friends and all ears were turned towards you as you answered the dumbest questions.
How did you end up here ? why would you tell them ?
Where you are from ? No one was impressed.
It didnât ended until you closed your roomâs door.
Being like an animal in a cage was awful but
you found out that the lack of wifi was intentional, that you had class every Saturday morning, and of a few gossips.
They werenât bad, just annoyed you were not a talkative interesting girl, youâre boring.
You sat on your fresh and humid bed, you had left your window open, some rain wetted the bottom part.
Your head snapped towards the same window when you heard the raspy voice again. This time the boy was in the window right in front of yours, his light showing a bit of the inside of the room, showing a unmade bed and making his figure too dark to see properly.
You realized you were staring without answering his question when he popped himself on his elbow waiting for you to yell your name.
Itâs only after you did that he yelled his : Jay.
You both stared at each other for a moment until he pointed the roof on top of your head.
His light turns off and you already know where you have to go.
Thank you for reading ! đ
