RYDER 📩 MARLEY
Marley: Me too!! Oh! I love English, sounds like a plan!
Ryder: Yeah? Okay great, because I'm the worst at it
RYDER 📩 MARLEY
Marley: Hey, Ryder! This is my number. It would be pretty pointless to put up flyers with the wrong number ;) We are still meeting, and it's fine! I'll see you there!
Ryder: True, but I tend to lose stuff a lot so I'm glad I didn't lose this. Okay cool, I'll bring my English homework
RYDER 📩 MARLEY
Ryder: Hey Marley, at least I'm pretty sure this is your number. But did you still want to meet up in the library? I might be running a little late but I'll be there
tutorgirl-marley:
“Sorry, I just want to pinpoint your issues, and we can work from there.” Marley closed her locker, and she bit down on her lip. She was a bit nervous around him, she didn’t know why. “Alright, yeah. After school works. You have my number, text me, and we can meet at the library.”
“Issues? Harsh Miss Marley,” he teased shrugging a little. “Okay, cool. I’ll text you after class and if I forget I’ll just head over to the library...Thanks by the way, I appreciate you wanting to help, even though you, you know...put up the flyers and all”
tutorgirl-marley:
“Okay, good.” Marley was a bit worried it was too much, so she was kind of glad that he was okay with the price. She figured a few tutoring sessions, and she’d have enough money in no time. “I have a free period now if you want to go over what you need.. I mean if you’re free too, how often do you want to do this? We can tackle more than one subject.”
“Uh, you are giving me way too many options” he told her, chuckling a little before shrugging as he thought about it. “I have English now but what about after school, are you free? And we can figure stuff out then?” he asked
tutorgirl-marley:
“Yeah, I am sure that is pretty important.” Marley didn’t really understand sports, but they were important, so she understood what he was talking about. “Yikes, well of course I can help you with that Ryder. Are you okay with the rate and stuff?” Tucking her brown hair behind her ear, she smiled over at him as he smiled back. “I put the flyer’s up for a reason, so yeah. When do you want to start?”
“Yeah the price is fine and stuff,” he quickly assured her, knowing that his PHD father wouldn’t care about forking over some cash if it meant his son could learn. Shrugging a bit he slid his hands into the pockets of his jeans. “Uh, whenever works for you. Do I have to pick a certain subject for you to help me out with?”
tutorgirl-marley:
Marley needed some extra money, so her decision to start tutoring seemed like a great idea. She was a Straight-A Student, and well, she needed the money. Marley ran it by her mother, and the decision was made. She was going to tutor. She already started tutoring Blaine, he needed extra help in Science, and Marley liked the guy. She offered a discount, but was kind of grateful he turned it down and offered to pay her full price. She felt weird charging her friends, but what was the purpose of tutoring, if you didn’t charge money? Marley’s free period was coming up, and she was shoving her books into the locker, when she heard a voice behind her. Jumping a bit, she turned around, and smiled slightly when she saw Ryder. “Oh, hey!” She said, smiling at the jock. He rarely spoke to her, so it was kind of weird. When he held up her note, she understood why. “Right, I figured twenty an hour…. are you looking for a tutor?”
“Uh yeah, I figured if I don’t start passing some of my classes I’m gonna get kicked off the football team. Plus, a few classes I’m starting to feel like aren’t even in English, so I figured I’d ask you about this. Would you uh...Be cool with helping me out? It’s totally cool if your busy already and stuff, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to ask” he explained, offering her a small smile.
Finding out that he was dyslexic had been the best and worst day of Ryder’s life. On one hand, it was nice to know why he felt so dumb all the time, and on the other now there was even more pressure from his parents. It was all easily becoming too much but he knew he had to deal with it somehow. He’d noticed ads posted on the school bulletin board for a tutor. Normally, he never would have taken that opportunity but when he saw who was posting them, he couldn’t resist at least trying.
Taking the small tab from the bottom with her information he scanned the hallways for a few minutes, sighing in relief once he actually found her. Debating on what he wanted to say or how he was even going to approach this Ryder took a few small steps closer to Marley’s locker. “Uh hey, I saw these...figured I’d come say hey and you know see what your charging or whatever” he said, quickly holding up the tutor paper, so she didn’t think anything else, since he knew there could be some pretty skeezy people at this school.
