Marketing Reflections
What is Digital Marketing? According to SAS, digital marketing is the promotion of products or brands using electronic means or social media. Since I began my studies at Full Sail in Entertainment Business, I knew that digital marketing is the most useful way and persuasive way to promote any product or business. However, I thought of it as specifically using social media to promote your product. When I wrote my mastery journal, my goal was to enhance my skills to present my brand through mobile and desktop audiences. As I continue my studies in this course, I learn that it gets deeper than just putting out a product or service on a social media site in order to market the brand and get sales. It is more about connecting with your target audience and understanding what they are attracted to, what there lifestyle is like, and what Because of the Internet there are many ways to promote a product within different channels such as social media, text messaging, podcasts and even mobile apps. I learned that the most important part in digital marketing is by knowing who your customers are.
In Seth Godin’s blog “Decoding “who is it for?” he questions, “this person the product is for: What do they believe? Who do they trust? What do they seek? What are they afraid of?” These are the questions that should be asked when building your brand and choosing your customers. Having a relationship with your customers and building a trustworthy connection is important to grow your audience. One you have a solid view of what they like, what they want and what they are most interested in, communicating your brand to them should be easy.
When we had the Google analytics and Site Map assignments, I had no idea how companies collect data and use it in their marketing techniques. Now I can use these techniques in order to collect data on my customer base and develop a successful digital marketing strategy. I learned in this course that to be successful in digital marketing you have to be able manage customer relationships in different channels, initiate customer interactions and utilize data in order to make decisions. (SAS) I will be able to apply these to my companies branding strategy and connect with my target market.

Negotiating and Dealmaking
This month I have completed the negotiation and deal-making course for my Entertainment Business degree. This course has exceeded my expectations. Before taking this course I didn't think I was a good negotiator. Now that I have taken this course I realize that I have been using negotiation throughout my personal and professional life. The concepts I have learned in this course to be a successful negotiator such as separating the people from the problem, coming to a mutual benefit, understanding the underlying interests, and learning to deal with and recognize emotions has given me a better understanding in the tactics used in negotiation. I feel I met my goal in my mastery journal timeline, which was to become a strong negotiator but practicing role-playing. The role-play assignment was very successful and it made me realize that I am a pretty good negotiator after all. This course will definitely serve its purpose on my future business deals once I get into my career. Not only has it thought me to negotiate business deals, it has also taught me how to understand individuals in my personal life. Throughout the course, I have been able to use the reading material especially from the book “Beyond Reason: Using Emotions as You Negotiate” by, Roger Fisher and Daniel Shapir, to help me deal with emotions and recognize the different emotions in my personal life. I never realized how important appreciation and affiliation is in negotiation. When you find merit in what the other person feels and communicate your understanding, it helps with reaching a mutual conclusion in a negotiation. The concepts I learned in this course have helped me understand individuals in my personal life as well. I will continue to utilize the material I learned from the course in my professional and personal life.
Entertainment Business Finance
Mastery Journal
I am working on my last week of my Entertainment Business Finance class. I have to say that this class has been my most challenging so far in my program. I say this because financing and budgeting is my weakest point. My Mastery Timeline my goal for this class was: to develop my knowledge in financing and budgeting skills. To learn the importance of financing a project in a company by making decisions on the budget of the production and enhancing my knowledge in operations expense, financial planning, and capital management for my future goal in working in the live entertainment industry. I have to say, I honestly haven’t achieved my goal in its entirety, but I this taking this class has definitely enhanced my knowledge much more than what I previously knew. My personal finance and budgeting is very poor. It is very hard to save especially living in New York City, being a mother of two children, living paycheck to paycheck and paying off credit card debts and loans. I learned that before I can finance my own business I have to work on my budgeting skills and personal investments. This class has given me insight on how I can better work on my budgeting and investment skills. I plan to seek help from a financial advisor to help me better budget my money and help me invest some of my money in some sort of growth account. This class made me realize the before I open a business of my own I have to be an expert in the finance department if I choose to gain a good profit. The case studies provided in this course expanded my knowledge in a company’s income statement and balance sheet, which I knew nothing of and I will need to utilize in the future. The other case study that I found interesting was the capital budgeting assignment, which increased my knowledge in how banks work out interest rates on loans whether is to an individual or a business. While working on this assignment I thought of my own personal loans and credit cards and understand the concept much more. The biggest “take away “ from this course is the GoTo archive session regarding “Personal Finance.” The professor has given useful points and advice to work on my personal financing. I will utilize them before I decide to open my business. The most important factor when starting up a business is looking for investments, loans and other ways to finance my project and I realize that there is much more that I need to work on in this behalf. I am definitely going to utilize all the resources that Professor Wolfe has provided in this course as on a daily basis in order to achieve my long term goal.

Business StoryTelling & Brand Development
This is my final week of my Business Storytelling & Brand Development class. I enjoyed studying about other companies brands and how I can develop my own personal brand. I have learned what a brand truly is. I always thought of a Brand to be logo. Although the brand can be represented by a logo it is not a logo. A brand is a persons gut feeling about a product, organization, or service. In order to establish your company’s brand it is important to understand what it is that drives you. By focusing on your brand identity will help you develop a successful brand. This course has given me the insight in being able to develop my own personal brand. During the second week of this course I came across an opportunity in being a part of a company that was in the beginning stages of it development and I was asked to be a part of it. The Prinxessa and The Prinxessa Stories is a company that will reach out to woman whom have been lost, and hurt through music and through interviews with woman who have lived out their lived by overcoming any obstacle they have faced. I feel that this opportunity came at the perfect timing and I will be able to utilize my knowledge from this course to further develop the brand we are looking for. The main resource I will use is the Business Model Canvas in order to develop The Prinxessa as well as develop on long term goal which is my own festival.
