Reavers are former alien special ops agents of a fallen naval military division, killed and reduced to mindless husks due to the initial blast of a Weaving Cortex firing off. They are notable for wearing a Mark II Heavy Plated Thermal Suit (HPTS) that's melded to their flesh after decomposition.

They are relentless, as it requires the complete destruction of their body to kill them permanently. One of their glaring weaknesses however, is that they can't heal from their injuries. Their existence is a fate worse than death, as their consciousness still lingers on, forever trapped in limbo as they watch their body rot away and feel everything that's being done to them. While they don't retain any of the skills they learned in their former lives, they still carry over some reflexes from muscle memory.

They can't rely on their sight, hearing or smell to get by so instead they rely on detecting high frequency vibrations to navigate. They emit lower frequency vibrations to identify their own. The higher the frequency, the more of them will gravitate towards it which is how they track prey and find planets to invade. They make use of the Sogurath to travel across different solar systems, taking them close to centuries to reach a single populated planet. When they arrive on an inhabited planet, they will drop down from the sky via landing pods and clear out an area to build a Ringing Cortex in it's place. To fortify the defense of a Ringing Cortex, they will hold a chokepoint around it and maintain it vigorously.

While they can perform greater feats of strength without restraint, their body can only withstand so much self inflicted damage before they completely fall apart. Their decomposition is slowed to mitigate for their rapid deterioration but should they be rendered useless, they will be replaced by fresher bodies. They can recover from getting their head blown off but they'll be left uncoordinated, this won't completely deter them from trying to attack their prey however. Those who are tasked with piloting ships or driving vehicles will be completely robbed of the little autonomy they have left, put into a vegetative state that they can't recover from as their body melds with their seats.
