âI canât imagine you ate properly in the time you were away from here, knowing your skills when it comes to food. If it wasnât served to you on a plate fully cooked and dressed, youâd complain.â But it was nothing compared the complaining that he stomached with her absence, those looking to him for the details that she carried out while his own focus was split between the camp and her being out there, without him. âI feel like if we leave our three kids in charge, two will overrule the one and this entire camp will end up in flames,â he replied, eyes half closed as he got them into the bathroom before setting her down on the counter. With every press of her lips against his skin, Kai thought less and less of anyone other than her. âFuck it, let it burn,â he mumbled against her kips as he sunk into a deep kiss.
She offered him that smile that meant he was right but she wouldnât admit it. âI ate. Everyone ate actually and I kept my complaints to myself about it not being cooked properly.â She stuck her tongue out at him. Sheâd hunted for everyone while she was out, and sheâd eaten, after everyone else, just like they both did in camp. It wasnât that the food wasnât good enough for her, it was that she had no appetite when she was away. She worried about things happening to everyone while she was gone and unable to help the ones she loved. She sank into the kiss, her hands tangling into his hair as she pulled him as close as she could get him. âIt wouldnât be two against one, Olly wouldnât give a damn and Mal can handle Atlas so itâs safe.â She mumbled against his lips with a small laugh when she pulled away for air. âYou, however, arenât.â She muttered, her hands running the length of his chest and under his shirt.Â
