a different take on what could've happened on Mustafar...
---
“Now or never,” Anakin says, and it’s a taunt again, but even now, Obi-Wan can’t help but agree.
“Have I been deceived for so many years?” Obi-Wan asks, the question bursting out of him before he thinks it through. There’s only so much opportunity in front of him, but there’s so many answers Obi-Wan seeks -– how could he? “Was I too blind in my attachment to you to see it?”
“Attachment.” Poison falls out of Anakin’s mouth with the word.
Belief suspended, moments pass through Obi-Wan’s mind, of tender kisses, of holding and being held, of the only comforts Obi-Wan has experienced since Satine. He can only gape at Anakin in disbelief, in despair.
Not every victory feels like one.
sooo this amazing art led me to writing a quick one shot similar to this scene lol
not to make shallow grave about gender but IT IS . from a cishet lens there is something ridiculous about two men and a woman living together, with only the blurriest definitions of gender and relationships setting the standard for their behavior. juliet is the man of the house without forgoing her femininity. alex is alex, a constant performance. david is the sort of man who never wears masculinity exactly right. they look to each other for definitions of right and wrong because normative definitions mean nothing in that apartment. these dynamics and identities shift as david is forced to take on a new role, to Explore His Maleness to the Fullest. he takes refuge in violence and possessiveness, juliet in passivity and quiet manipulation. only alex continues to perform as he did before, and we see where that gets him
One of my favorite observations was that Juliet and Alex are intentionally similar in appearance to emphasize Alex's weird role in-between the masculine and feminine in the house and that Alex is ultimately the 'wife' of the house

Luke being the only one who finally breaks that armor of darkness, hate and ghosts of Anakin's past has always been a soft spot for me.
Kind of photos Obi-Wan keeps at the bottom of his sock drawer
