I know this blog has changed in content over the last few years, but for a long time it was all about Maggie, and that archive is still there should anyone wish to look through it (early 2019 and work backwards). She lived quite a life - considerably more colourful than most would have imagined, and her work was a lot more varied than Potter and Downton would suggest. Her passing today aged 89 still feels like a shock. A friend said it was akin to the death of the Queen. Maggie had a similar steadfast and constant quality to her. Goodbye Margaret Natalie Smith - thanks for the great performances!

Comparing someone with Italian ancestry to a mafia don is not the compliment you think it is. It's the same as comparing someone of Irish ancestry to being the head of the IRA. The only morally decent character in The Godfather is Kay - not Vito, and not Michael.

I only have a cursory knowledge of Game of Thrones, but even I know that the "Mother of Dragons" did not have a good ending, brought about by her going a bit power mad, and just mad.

Hi anyone still out there. I am in need of some... well I won't say advice, but I am going on holiday to San Francisco (yes, I know) mid-October, and I haven't planned a single thing to do when there. If anyone has any suggestions, recommendations, I would greatly appreciate it. It will be my first time visiting, and I am completely open to doing all the touristy stuff (whilst hopefully not looking like one).

Crazy how she will do an interview one day looking like the hottest 40+ yr old on the earth and then immediately go on cable news without an ounce of makeup

I have to admit I wasn't crazy about yesterday's look on MSNBC. She did have makeup on, but it was entirely matte, and for some unknown reason the artist failed to add any blush, or at least a hint of colour. I think it telling that Nancy herself had a stronger lip colour on later that day. The MSNBC look sort of washed her out.
