the NPCs in kcd2 feel very real for a number of reasons but one of them is that if you walk up on somebody they will look directly at your character and sometimes say something to you, either a greeting or like “do you need something, why are you walking up on me?” without you doing anything except come near them. you’d be surprised how few games have that much reactivity
