Meant to post this a very long time ago, but better late than never.
Purpose/Mission Statement: Through my project, I hope to gain more insight into how music affects everyone differently and the role it plays in mental health. I also hope to expand my music library and experiment with art forms that I don’t typically use. My goal is for my finished project, the altered book, to demonstrate both emotional and artistic growth.
1. I will research the relationship between mental health and music and how these things
can influence different types of art.
2. I will create a series of playlists that attempt to represent different moods/emotions/feelings I am experiencing
3. I will revisit and listen to my playlists a few weeks after they are completed and create art in response to them to further communicate the emotion. I will then ask about 10 others to do the same (some friends and family, but I also want to reach out on social media).
4. I will compile the playlists and art in an altered book that will be displayed at arts fest.
5. I will learn more about how art is both a product of and producer of
emotion, and how different people handle these emotions. I also hope to learn more about my own mental health through the creation of this visual/auditory representation of my emotions.
I want to do some preliminary research first to get a better idea of exactly what I want to accomplish/convey with my altered book. I also need to brainstorm altered book ideas and come up with what I want my layout to look like (how many pages per playlist, what kind of art techniques I’ll use, etc.). I plan to set aside time to listen to my playlists and do some doodles, take photos, paint, write, etc. I have most of the materials I need to do so already so it’s just a matter of finding time to sit down and focus on what I want to create. I plan on updating my process binder at least once a week (probably Sunday) with updates on my progress.
