Please Help 1y/o Dimitri Come Back Home To His Parents!!!
TL;DR: Dimitri is a 1y/o baby currently in state custody because his parents (my boyfriend and his then-partner) were unfit to raise him because of homelessness. But now, with a space we can call home and myself (a trans man) in the picture, we are making every move we can to get custody back. Hi, my name is Miguel, I am a 24y/o trans man, and I need help. We need help. I was a tattoo artist before this whole madness started, and now Iām out of a job. Iād do what the other tattoo artists are doing and work from my own home, but unfortunately I canāt do that because I live with my parents and they are a part of the risk group (also, they had already forbidden me from tattooing here since before the quarantine).
My boyfriend, Yuri (22y/o) was homeless until a few weeks ago, when he managed to rent a small room fit only for himself and his dog, Zula. Now, letās dive in the problem...:
During the time he was homeless, Yuri had a partner and they had a son, Dimitri. They surrendered him to state custody because they couldnāt afford to raise him. It was and still is the best course of action they couldāve taken in that time, and I understand the decision completely. However, if we manage to get the basic furniture needed for Yuriās house (he still doesnāt have a refrigerator, or a stove, or a microwave for example) AND manage to buy a crib for Dimitri, and literally everything else needed for taking care of a child (diapers, milk formula for babies, clothes, maybe even a baby carriage), the social workers will see we are doing our very best to accommodate him with us and that might fasten the process.
We have been dating for some time, but only now he told me about Dimitri. I understand, it might scare some people our age off knowing your partner already has a child, but Iām excited to be a father to Dimitri as well, and weāre considering moving in together to take care of him. That way I can work from home with tattooing and not leave my parents at risk for something... Well, you know. Virus and stuff.
We are asking for compassion, and for empathy. We are both brazilian, Iām trans and Yuriās black so getting jobs is a bit harder than it would be if we were cis and white. Just today Yuri was turned down for a job we were truly expecting him to get because it was totally up his alley (it was a geek clothing store and we are a geek couple so it would fit like a glove, but racial profiling shows itself once more).
Please, if you can contribute to our small family unit, it would mean first of all the WORLD to us, and weād be able to move in together, get the furniture needed and prepare ourselves for the social worker visits. Iām confident that, with your help, we can get Dimitri back from state custody and provide him with a loving home.
