Alright motherfuckers listen up because I have a Lot of feelings about this shot!!!

It’s such a blatant depiction of how Steve feels that it breaks my heart. The wide angle of the shot and the sparse decoration of the house really emphasize how alone and completely fucking isolated he feels in this moment. Perhaps even hinting at a prolonged isolation, with his separation from Leigh and his strained relationship with his family.

He’s curled in on himself, sitting on the floor with his knees pulled up to his chest. Combined with the angle of the shot, he looks so devastatingly small. It’s likely that he feels small, afraid and no longer in control because his baby sister is dead, and he thinks he’s just hallucinated her. Steve is so lost, and scared, and hurting, and his body language is practically screaming this.

This is Steve when he’s alone, when he doesn’t have to pretend to be unaffected or brave for anyone. And he’s falling apart all alone. Probably not for the first time, considering how much he hides major events of his life from others (seeing ghosts/hallucinations and his falling out with Leigh are two pretty good examples of secrets he keeps from his family).
