I just realized I never shared my Britney Spears costume for this past Halloween! Boots and Skirt from Torrid (I think both are still available) Everything else was thrifted.

The other day at the Flatirons of Boulder, CO. All items worn are from Torrid. The dress was generously given to my sister by her friend! Dress and Jacket are a size 5 and my boots are a size 12.

This pineapple look has been a summer staple and I encourage every fat femme to go out and get yourself one! It’s a Cowcow dress from Amazon and it runs from x-small to xxx-large. I am wearing the 3x large and I am usually a size 28/30. These dresses stretch a lot so even if you don’t think you would fit into it, get one and try anyways! It is made out of very light jersey so it’s been a blessing in the summer. 

Pineapple purse is from Torrid. (They’ve been making crossbody bags to fit fat bodies and I am so happy about it! The strap is 52 inches, I believe,)

Shoes are a size 12 from Lane Bryant!

I’ve been stepping out of the house without worrying about my arms and legs lately and I have to say, it’s been one of the best summers I’ve had in a while. I’ve been doing my very best to not worry about what people think. I’ve been trying my best to let go of societal pressure to look pleasing to everyone’s eyes but mine. I’ve been trying my best to not get tripped up on the male gaze and my worth as a femme relying on how good I look to a man. I look good to myself. I feel cool and comfortable with my bare arms and legs and I look cool and comfortable. 

To all my fat folx, you deserve to wear whatever you want to feel cool and comfortable in this heat, you are allowed to cover up if that is what makes you feel the best. You are allowed to dress in tiny skirts and shirts or bikinis, or crop tops. You are beautiful, you are important.

Riding The Bus As A Fat Person

I want to begin sharing more of my poetry here and that means allowing myself to be vulnerable with my experiences and emotions. Fear has been holding me back but I’m taking a plunge and doing something that makes me happy and fulfilled. I hope you all enjoy.

So this was a few weeks ago, it snowed pretty hard here in Denver and we had ourselves a fun little snow day. I really wanted to feature this cute ass backpack that my sister helped me buy. I’ve been into Betsey Johnson accessories this past year and grabbing mainly bags from Ross and TJ Maxx, they always have something cute and Betsey so I’m constantly scouring the racks. Anyways, I saw it and tried it on and was shocked that it fit my fat back. Like, literally y’all, nothing this cute and dainty ever fits. I showed my sister that it fit and she helped me pay for it! Best sister ever, I swear. I’m also wearing her clothes, which are from Target minus my tights and boots, they are from Torrid. I’ve taken to wearing short dresses over tights and this dress is tiny. It’s a 3x from the Junior’s Plus section of Target. I’m a size 28/30/32 for reference so to all my superfats out there, try things on even if they look small cause I bet that shit will look greats on you!

Femmes Of Color Gift Exchange!

Fat Selena for Halloween 2015!!!

I was Fat Selena for Halloween and if you don’t know who Selena is, I am truly sorry for you. The Queen of Tejano had fun on Halloween night! At first I was super scared to dress as Selena because I’m obvio way fatter than she was and I felt like a lot of people were going to clown me but my costume was well received and anytime someone would recognize me, I would go into a Selena Tejano dance pose!  Bustier: Swim Top from Top, Size 5, $17 w/haute cash (Sewed on rhinestones)

I Changed My Blog Title

I changed my blog title and I feel the need to address that so as to take accountability and for transparency purposes. A few weeks ago a few of my comrades and I had a discussion surrounding poorness. A friend asked an important question: What defines poorness? We all had a discussion and although it seemed like different people had different opinions, this is what I took away from it: Poorness -to me- is when you are consistently without and cannot make ends meet. Being poor means having to make financial compromises and sacrifices and not having any type of safety net. Being poor is different than struggling or being on a budget. Struggling -to me- looks like having just enough to support yourself and/or a home but struggling to get by/not really having much money to spend leisurely. Budgeting -to me- looks like having enough to support yourself and/or a home but if you do have enough to spend leisurely, it means having to budget for that. I think the difference in both is that when you are poor, you have less advantage and you don’t have a safety net as to where with struggling/budgeting affords you a little more wiggle room to enjoy money. This conversation was born out of folks feeling that it’s problematic to co-opt poorness if they aren’t actually poor. This isn’t to erase people who are poor but still are able to obtain nice things, because that for sure happens and you can still have a nice cell phone, car, or tv but still be hella poor. I think it is very important to acknowledge the differences and to acknowledge that people who are poor do have it harder than those who are just struggling/budgeting. It’s a slap in the face for people who aren’t poor to say “Oh I couldn’t afford the newest expensive makeup item, I’m so poor!” when poor people can’t actually afford groceries, utilities, clothes, etc. Soooo, with all that said, I did not want to take up space and co-opt poorness in my blog title. To be clear, I did grow up poor as shit and I speak from personal experience when I talk about the definition of poorness and up until I moved out of Texas about a half a year ago, I remained poor. I am changing my blog title because my status as a poor person has changed and I was lucky enough to have good people invite me into their home and become my safety net in order to remove me from the harmful life I was living in Texas. I am finally able to enjoy parts of what I earn and because of that, I no longer should take up space in a marginalized group I am no longer a part of as I do not want to be oppressive or problematic.

So I have fallen off the radar a bit and I have to apologize. I made a huge change in my life and moved from Texas to Colorado! I told myself I would update as soon as I got settled and I’ve been here for a little more than half a year already! Time got away from me, as usual, but I didn’t forget about my online space here. I promise to be better about updating! Also, my sister and I have something in the works for future blogging, so that's exciting!
