oh y’all wanna know something interesting i read today?? u know how niall started singing ‘dancing in the dark’ not w the world tour, but last year after he saw bruce at his broadway show? well, it turns out bruce recontextualizes the meaning of the song at the show. this review goes, 

[Bruce Springsteen] describes with wonder how, at 92 and suffering for seven years with Alzheimer’s, [his mom] still loves to dance at any occasion, and then launches into a deeply moving, acoustic version of “Dancing in the Dark.” The song is not a masterpiece in the Springsteen canon, which makes the alchemy of the moment all the more unexpected. Audience members, no longer simply witnesses at a concert, become imaginative participants in a small story of joyful redemption in the midst of despair. Magic.

i just thought that was so neat, particularly as i’m in agreement that ‘ditd’ is really not one of the boss’s all-time greatest songs, so i’ve always wondered why it’s been a staple of the boss’s (and now niall’s) show, but having been given new life that way, it makes soo much more sense.
