Intimacy is a great mystery— of the nature of the hidden, the in-between space between ‘me and you’.
It is at the edges of our private inner world, where 𝖤𝖱𝖮𝖲— is the reaching out toward the other.
For women, the bridge of connection with another is 𝖤𝖱𝖮𝖲— the emotional and mental landscape where perception carries a greater weight than physicality.
A woman does not just exist before a man; she lives inside the mirror of his perception🪞—
𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘦𝘳.
𝖤𝖱𝖮𝖲 is the vibrational bridge, that constructs itself between the interiority of one person and the interiority of another person. It is also a sacred bridge. When we look from this point of view, we see another, not as object, but we perceive them as the inner person they are. This is to touch someone beyond the borders of the body.
When we open this space of ourselves to another we communicate in the subtle language of intuition, perception, knowing, understanding, awareness, nuance, feeling tones and texture— it has all the qualities the poets describe as tender, vulnerable, exquisite— what the witch may call, the ecstasy of the liminal (liminoid) space— there is no possibility of meeting someone inside of them, if this space is not established.
This is the subtle landscape of energy and fine perception. Where we see, hear, taste, smell and feel with the inner senses of the soul.
While women are calibrated with finely tuned feeling capacities, men have a great capacity to penetrate this realm with knowing, understanding and seeing. Woman desires to 𝘣𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘯. Being seen, understood, and contemplated, within the mirror of his awareness, creates a shared psychic space.
Virginia Woolf refers to the importance of this interior space, the inner life of a woman, as having—
A woman with a rich inner life does not require constant outer stimulation; her mind is a sanctuary of nuance. She seeks someone capable of entering that interior room. Who recognises the inherent romanticism of being thought of as a foundational element of attraction for her. Intellectual intimacy remains one of the most underrated and intensely erotic forms of attraction.
I’m probably not the first woman who will say that the greatest mistake a woman can make is to open into this space with a patriarchal man, who will only invade and claim your inner space and energy for himself and tell you how you should or shouldn’t be thinking or feeling.
There is an undeniable heat in witnessing the interiority of mind. To drop into this space is to burn. In every way. Intimacy per definition burns the borders of individuality.
To open this space in the wrong time and place is to burn in a hellish fire of criticism. Mistaking basic physical contact for closeness leaves a gap; to a woman, the soul-deep bond of the Eros-relationship remains the only decisive reality.
