“She really is,” Everett replied with a grin, “I’ve arranged to have dinner in the coffee shop after it’s closed. So it’ll be just us there and I’ve set it up nicely. I know most of the people who work there and they’re letting me set it up for a date,” He paused, “Its’s a special place for us I guess.”
“Oh that’s so cute!” Maggie squealed excitedly at Everett’s answer. “She’s going to love it -- I’m sure!”

“Okay so there are two reasons then.”
“That’s what I thought,” she teased.

“It’s had no effect on mine so far.”
“Well that’s because you’re an original. I can smell it.”

“Great, I’ll get the dogs,” Orlaith replied with a grin.
“I’ll meet you by their kennels,” she said over her shoulder, going to the side-room where they kept things like dog toys and leashes. She grabbed enough leashes for every dog they had currently in the kennels to walk. After doing so, Maggie returned promptly to her cousin. “Here you go attach these guys and I’ll take those,” she said, handing Orlaith some of the leashes before walking over to the other kennel gate.

“Bonus points if they come up with a cool name!” she added with a chuckle.

“Funny? Haven’t really gotten that one before. I’ll take it.” She let out a slight scoff that could easily be mistaken for a slight laugh. “I’ve got a few nice friends here. – Plus its gorgeous and a lot different from all the places I’ve been before. I was normally a big city girl but, this little town is winning me over.”
“A big city girl? I’m jealous. I’ve always wanted to visit a big and bustling city, you know?” Maggie said with a wistful sigh. “But I see where you’re coming from, Avondale has a charm like no other. I think I even prefer it to home.”

“Her name is Beverly. I think you might know her twin brother, Harrison.”
“I’ve met Beverly a few times -- she’s lovely! I’m sure you two are going to have a great time. Any idea where you’re taking her?”

“I’m sure. It’s been a few days. Some of them are definitely getting anxious and fidgety.”
“That’s normal -- animals react that way during a storm. But I see what you mean. I’ll go gab the leashes,” Maggie said with a smile.

“Life is short,” Erik replied with a dry laugh, “Or that’s what people say anyway.”
“I’ve also heard people say excessive alcohol intake can shorten your lifespan.”

“What other reason is there?” Harrison teased.
“Maybe because I make the best chocolate chip cookies ever?”

“Are you just going to stand there or are you going to join me?”
“Oh I-- I don’t really think I should be drinking on a Wednesday.”

“Yes. Perhaps we can take the dogs for a proper walk in the woods today.”
“They’re going to absolutely love that!” she beamed at the thought.

“I think that’s what makes us such great friends.”
“I sure hope so,” she grinned.

“I may have to. Wouldn’t want a pretty girl to not get her well deserved credit.” She spoke easily, her tone light and joking. The girl’s sweet attitude was infectious. “Thanks. – I got it for my birthday.” A shrug fell on her shoulders. “So far there seem to be quiet a few things that are keeping me around.”
“You’re funny too,” Maggie chuckled softly. “Oh? Mind me asking what exactly?”

“Thanks, you’re a lifesaver,” Everett replied with a grateful grin, “Yeah, it’s been a long anticipated one to be honest.”
“Oh? Who with? Do I know her?”
adrian--porter:
“Do you remember where you last saw them? I’ll help you look.”
“They should be in the staff room -- if they’re not, I’m worried,” she said, growing quiet as she climbed over the fence, jumping down onto the other side. “You coming?”
adrian--porter:
“And then you took the poor volunteer hostage.” Adrian chuckled. “You know, this really isn’t looking good for you, Mags.”
“It’ll only take a second, I promise,” Maggie said, internally worried the two would get caught.
