Synopsis: You and Adrien are dating ever since the two of you were in high school. Even after the years you spent together, you're still unaware of his double life due to your patience and trust. What will happen after if you're finally fed up?
"Where were you?" You asked the boy who just sat down in front of you. "I just got out from another photoshoot. Were you waiting for me that long?" After he put his things down, he looked at you. "Do you know what time it is?" You crossed your arms and pretended to be angry. You raised an eyebrow at him that made him silent. "I'm sorry, I'll get--" He noticed your failure of containing your laughter. "Hey, are you laughing?" He pinched your cheek and you let out a giggle. "It's okay, Adrikins." You imitated Chloé which made him chuckle. "Hey, I was just messing with you, I know you have a tight schedule and I know you want to fulfill your dream too. There was an akuma attack earlier which made me late too."
"My dream?" He asked, he doesn't know about what he dreams to be yet you knew. "That's what you get from that?" You chuckled. "Yeah, for the past years we've been together, I witnessed how you obey your father's wishes, like why you're still modeling. And you're modeling because that's what your father wants you to become, a public figure if I'm right. My point is, you want to be a person who your parents want you to be. I'm sure if your mother's around you'll do your best to make her happy." You looked at him and gave him your genuine smile. When you met his eyes, you could see that he was astonished. "I-I'm sorry, I was just rambling. I'm sorry I assumed what your dream was." You rubbed the back of your neck out of embarrassment. "No, don't be, I was just speechless. I never thought of it before as my dream. I always try to remember what my dream was back in high school. You just gave me a thought to remember."
"Let's order." You looked at the menu and he nodded at you. While in the middle of doing so, an uproar was heard outside the restaurant. You peeked at the window and the streets were paraded with rats. "What's worse than seeing rats parading Paris?" Adrien commented. "Those rats ruining our date." The rats then invaded the restaurant the two of you are in. People let out their screams and tries to flee the restaurant but when some of them got bitten, they immediately showed symptoms of fever like a disease flourished in their bodies in a matter of seconds. You stood on the table and pulled Adrien with you. "Be careful, you don't wanna spread the Black Death 2.0." you declared. You took your pepper spray and sprayed it on the rats, the sensation irritated their noses and airways which made them ran away from the both of you. "Nice!" You just scrunched your nose in response to him. "Let's get going, let's head somewhere safe." He added.
"Stay here." He touched your shoulders and reminded you, he started to walk to leave the room after making sure of safety. "Wait, where are you going?" You stopped him, he froze and faced you. "I-I'm going to get help. Outside." "Let me help you." "No, I want you here safe from the rats. Don't open the door until it's me." You just nodded and kissed his cheek. "Be safe, okay?" He smiled at you and also gave you a kiss but this time he kissed you on the lips. He left and closed the door behind him.
You're at his room in Le Grand Paris, you sat on his bed and checked your phone for news. Nadja reported the news, she reported a new villain and he wore a dark colored suit and he controls the rats. "Monsieur Rat?" 'What a lame name.' you flopped on Adrien's bed waiting for his return. After what seems like forever, you contacted him but he wasn't answering. "Come on, pick up." You were getting worried, he might be attacked by the rats. You threw your phone after dozens of missed calls.
You heard a knock on the door after half an hour. You hurried yourself to get it but remembered to let yourself know who may it be. "Who is it?" "It's me, (Y/n). It's already over." You opened the door and hugged him. "Where were you? I was calling you for so many times and you weren't answering any of them." "I uh... dropped my phone in the swarm of rats when you were calling me, and I was stuck somewhere surrounded by rats. I was hoping someone would help and Chat Noir saved me with his staff. He's such a hero." "You should've let me be with you and I could've helped you y'know." He just returned your hug and gave you kiss on the forehead. He frowned at the thought he couldn't tell you what was happening.
"That was good movie." You stretched after you left the cinemas. "It was, I never knew--" Adrien cut himself off and stared at the distance. "Hm? What were you saying?" He was still staring and when you're about to see what it was he stopped you by holding your shoulders in place. "I just remembered something, it concerns with my father." he said before he just left in the middle of your date. You just sighed and went home.
Adrien sighed in relief when he stopped you from seeing another akumatized villain. He might not get a chance to transform into Chat Noir when he's with you. He hates the idea of leaving you out of the blue but he has no other choice but to do it. He's thankful that you're patient and not pushing him to reveal what he was doing when he has to lie to excuse himself. Still, at some point he has to tell you soon, but not now.
You're now watching Adrien's photoshoot for an upcoming magazine and as most of the time, he's the cover of it. "You did well." You offered him your bottled water and he accepted it. "Thank you for being here." He responded. "Hello, if I did what I really want to do today, I'd be at home playing video games or doing my other hobbies." You said while looking at him with a teasing smile, and he pouted from your words. "Hey, I was just kidding." you giggled while pinching his cheeks. "And, I also enjoy watching you model. You look so radiant, care free, dreamy, Adrien." He rolled his eyes as you let out a chuckle. "Hey, guys!" A voice was heard from afar, the both of you looked and saw Alya and Nino. You waved at the both of them and pat a seat for the two of them but they refused. "These soulmates are at each other's presence again, huh?" Alya chimed and you responded. "Same goes for the two of you." "Where are you headed?" Adrien asked. "We're heading to the Ice Cream Man for some ice cream, you want to come?" Nino invited the two of you but you refused. "Of course, lovey dovey time huh?" Alya poked your side and you just scrunched your nose at her. When they left a loud thud was heard, you searched for the source of the noise and it was a villain terrorizing Paris, again. You let out a sigh, once again quality time is ruined. How many times did this happen? You lost count.
"(Y/n), let's go." Adrien grabbed your arm and took you to an empty alley to hide. "I'll go check for security measure." "What? No, you should stay here. It's dangerous." You stopped him by grabbing his hand. "It's important, and I can't risk your safety." He replied not looking your way. "Where are you going anyway?" You asked but didn't receive your answer. "I'm sorry, (Y/n), I'll tell you later." You let go of his hand and he ran away, leaving you once again. You know that Adrien told you to stay for your safety, but your curiosity is eating you alive like a lion starved for a day.
You discreetly followed him and watched where he went while keeping an eye out for the villain. He ended up turning into another alley minutes away from where he left you. You watched from a decent distance, you were about to take another step when Chat Noir extended his staff and "fly away". You now continued on what you were doing, but when you got there: he was gone. A light bulb popped over your head, maybe... Adrien is Chat Noir. You giggled at your thought, that can't be, he should have told you that. Maybe after you got distracted of Chat Noir he got away from your sight. A phone call interrupted you from your thoughts, it was Nathalie. "Yes, hello, Nathalie?" "Is Adrien with you?" She asked. "Yes, We're staying safe from the villain." "I see, keep safe." She immediately ended the call, you sighed in relief. When you knew the villain is out of your area, you switched places of where to stay safe.
You just wanted to know where he goes whenever he has to leave in the middle of your date most of the time. It upsets you when he has to go and never leave a clear explanation. But you never lost hope for him, because you always believed that someday he'll tell you what it is he's always busy about. Now, you can't seem to take it anymore. Is it too much of you to reach the point of following him in order to know the truth?
After the villain is defeated, Adrien as Chat Noir hurried to check up on you but you were nowhere to be found in the place where he left you. His ring now beeps, out of power and needs to recharge. He detransformed and fed Plagg. "Geez, you left your lover once again, huh?" Plagg spoke as he eat his cheese. "I have to, they can't know or Ladybug will be mad at me if they knew. I have to apologize and I have to prepare for their gift." Plagg wiggled his non-existent eyebrows.
Little did he know, you heard and saw the entire thing, you frowned from this revelation and left. You witnessed this because you were about to go back on the alleyway since you know Adrien might worry where you are and he'll find you there. After seeing and hearing it all, questions bothering your head are now all answered. You bit your lip, you don't know what to do or even think right now but when you heard his footsteps you quickly flee the area and went home.
You received texts from Adrien after few minutes you reached your house. You were going to just read his texts and ignore it to process it all but when you read his last text about him waiting for you to meet him at Île aux Cygnes. You got off from your bed and got ready, you used your car to reach the destination since it's already evening and you don't walk to walk home exhausted.
Adrien was waiting for you, candles were set on the ground which leads to him. "Go get 'em lover boy." Plagg chimes. "You're so cheesy, you even thought of this." "They deserve it, I never knew someone would love me as much as I love them, Plagg." Adrien responded, adoring you. "Gotta go." Plagg hides as you came into the scene.
You waved your hands at him and smiled. "Wow, it's beautiful." You approached him smiling yet your eyes can tell you're somewhat tired? "(Y/n), are you alright?" He could quickly tell there's something going on with you. "Y-yeah! I'm fine i-it's just that..." You sighed and sat on the sand. You can't hide this from him because you know that this is a big deal. "The truth is, I knew who you are. You don't have to keep it a secret with me, I'll do my best to help you. Like I always do. Earlier this day, I followed you to know where you always go, I didn't get my answer at firs-" You were cut off by him, he was speechless with what you're talking about. "You followed me?" Adrien's gaze never left you as he sat next to you, and you could tell he's troubled from your revelation. "I did, I wanted to know where you go every time you disappear."
You flinched at his tone to you. It was rare for him to get this mad at you. "I'm sorry, I was so curious. You were always missing in action in the middle of your most dates. I-" "Do you know how much danger this puts us in?!" He raised his tone once again just enough for the whole artificial island to hear. "You can't know." Adrien runs his hands through his hair and looked at the ground and then he looked at you. "I told you to stay safe! Why didn't you listen?! If you just stayed put! Then, risks of Shadow Moth finding the Miraculouses are lower!" His rising voice in anger shocked you, you never knew he could get this mad at you. You don't know what to do, you thought that if you knew, you could help him with what's he's always troubled of. You just wanted to help. Adrien is about to say his next words but he was stopped by the sight of you.
Tears are just streaming down your face but never let out a sob or a whimper. You just cried. You finally broke down, after enduring his shenanigans filled with lies and excuses for years. You were so patient, your patience never went thin because you believe in him and you trust him. Now, anger and yelling are what you're getting after the sacrifices you made for him, for the both of you and you finally can't hold it in anymore. "(Y/n)." He cupped your cheek and you grabbed his wrist and removed his hand from your face.
"Adrien, for the past few years we've been together. I've been waiting for the moment you'll tell me what you're always busy about. Why you have to lie to me and utter excuses and why most of the time you'll choose to leave our dates ever since high school." "I am going to tell you, just not now." He replied and avoided your gaze. "When?" You spoke again. "When are you going to tell me? In a year? After 5 years? After a decade? I've always been honest and patient with you. Why can't you tell me?" You continued waiting for his answer. "Because I promised Ladybug that I won't--"
"What about me? Have you ever thought of what I'd feel?! You're uttering another woman's name in the middle of our argument, how funny. I never expected that."
"(Y/n), I..." His lost of words made you smile sadly. "Adrien, you know that I'll support you on whatever you want or need. I'll be here." You caressed his cheek with your thumb and let go. "I just can't, (Y/n). I'm doing this for our safety, can't you just understand that?!" He still didn't budge, and you can see he's still resisting on your concerns.
"Understand? Do you know how many times I lied and believed every time you lie? Do you know how much I had to hold on to my patience every time you skip our quality time and when you leave me out of the blue with unreasonable and redundant excuses?! God, I even fooled myself believing those, and do you know why I did all those things so many times?! Because I'm trying to understand you!" You finally snapped at him and cried once more, sobs in between your lines. You couldn't keep your composure anymore. You're a sobbing mess.
"What does Ladybug has to do with what's going on between us? If you could just let me finish, my point is you can be Chat Noir even if I know. I promise I would never let myself put you in harm's way. I want to be there with you, and get through with your troubles together the way I also know what you're going through, not like when we were in high school. I don't even know why you were always upset and troubled yet I still managed to help you up, but it was hard. I felt like I'm not trusted enough to know even if I'm your significant other." You looked at him with hurt in your eyes. "You don't need to be defensive, am I not still worthy of your trust? If not, then, why are we still doing this?!" You stood and ran away from him, not even sparing him a glance. For the first time, you're the one who's leaving him without an explanation. "(Y/n)! Wait!" He stood and tries to catch up with you.
Your vision is blurry from the tears which are still forming. You reached your car, quickly put your key in the ignition to start the car to get out of here. You sniffed and tried wiping your tears with your other hand. You never knew bottling up your issues and suddenly spilling like that would affect you this greatly. It's like a sudden rainstorm without the rain drizzling. Even if you wiped your whole face a couple of times, tears will still fall and stain it.
Your overflowing mixed emotions and buckets of tears emitted negative emotions from you. An akuma flown into your necklace and possessed it which made it easy for Shadow Moth to communicate with you. You tried resisting him, but trying to ease your heart and mind will be hard for you. "Come on, dear (Y/n), don't you want to take revenge to the person who took you for granted?" Shadow Moth spoke to you. "No.. He.. Didn't.." You uttered still trying your best to resist him.
You were losing your focus on the road by keeping your eyes closed from time to time for you to resist him. You thought deeply and concentrated for you to drove away the akuma. 'I know, Adrien did that because he was scared to lose his loved ones.' You slowly eased yourself trusting your thought which cut your connection with Shadow Moth. Relieved from being free, you didn't know which lane you're driving to. A car came in the opposite direction with speed fast as yours, out of reflex you dodged it but you crashed on lamp post. It was a minor car accident but the sudden crash caused injuries, made you dizzy and lose your consciousness.
You could faintly hear people talking, rushing back and fort, and the siren of an ambulance. You tried opening your eyes but it felt like it was the hardest thing to do. When you tried doing so, you swear you saw Adrien looking at you. Worry and tears in his eyes.
You woke up, lights were blinding you. 'Jeez, I went to heaven real fast.' your thought was easily discarded when you heard beeping sounds and equipment around the room. You moved your hand and caught Adrien's attention. "Is there anything wrong? Do you need anything?" Was all he could say after seeing you awake from unconsciousness. You shook your head and signaled him to get near you. You tried your best to give a hug with one hand. "I-I thought I lost you." He gently returned your hug.
"(Y/n), I'm really sorry." He apologized while clinging your hand. "Hey, it's okay. I know--" "No, it's not okay. I should've trusted you and told you about it. You're right, I was just worried about you, I thought I was protecting you yet I am the one hurting you. Keeping it all in and letting you slip away from me wasn't it. I'm sorry that you had to do all of that just for me." "That's because I love you, Adrien." "I love you too." You smiled at him and he took something out from his pocket. "Earlier, I told Ladybug about the akuma I spotted flying towards you, and after a while I saw it de-evilized right before your accident. She ordered me to give this charm to you in order to keep you away from being akumatized." He put the charm necklace on you and kissed your cheek. The doctor and nurses arrived and asked him to step out for them to check you up. He complied and waved at you before he left the room.
You're finally at ease, you're proud of yourself by being patient and stronger in your relationship. Some may say you're stupid by letting someone especially your boyfriend do you like that. But you don't care, they wont understand even if you explain, because the truth isn't unveiled.
"Where were you?" You asked the boy who just sat down in front of you. "I just got out from a photoshoot." He looked at you after he set down his things. You raised an eyebrow at him. "This time, it's true. I promise you." You just laughed at his reaction. "I was just messing with you." He smiled at you, admiring your candid face. How he wished he told the truth sooner. "So, any update from your work?" He asked you, when you're about to respond, screams were heard outside the restaurant. You peeked outside the window and rats are parading the streets of Paris, again. Adrien looked at you with determination to save Paris once again. You smiled at him and nodded, "I'll see you later, Adrikins." You giggled and he stood and ran to a secluded place.
While the people in Paris are screaming their fears out, you just sat there finishing your wine. What rat can hurt a girl with a pepper spray?
