Lee had always been curt and secretive about his troubles, so only now was Makoto beginning to understand the sacrifices he had made for her. People would look at him and believe the hideous rumours. It was unbearable. Setting her chopsticks down, she wiped at her face hastily, just shaking her head.

“I’m- I’m- s-sorry,” she stuttered out, but her tears got away from her, tracking down her cheeks no matter how she tried to stem them. “I’m sorry.” What else could she say? She knew tears made people uncomfortable, but she could no more understand it than she could stop it, bowing her head with a shiver.

“I just- it’s. Sorry.” She tried to focus on the food again, but her appetite was gone, instead opening the drink the man had pressed into her hand and taking a sip. She let out a surprised noise. “It’s juice!” That stopped her crying for a moment, a furrowed, almost embarrasssed smile ghosting across her face. “I thought it was tea.”

Majima had initially thought that Lee was in fact Makoto Makimura. It wasn't like the college girl lead him to believe any differently. Letting out a soft sigh he placed a hand gently on her upper arm. This was all his fault, what sort of hitman was he? At this rate he would never make it back into the Tojo clan. This was his one chance and he blew it, but it was more than worth it.

"Don't apologize I juss hate seein' ya cry." He exclaimed quietly, there was nothing he could possibly do to make the situation better or worse. Everything was falling into it's place. Taking a deep breath in he removed the hand that gripped her arm and moved to sit back against the couch.

Taking the plate of still piping hot Takoyaki he closed it moving it to the side as he watched her place the drink against her lips. Lee had told him about the rat bastard with the bat tattoo who took her innocence and her eyesight. It pissed Majima off just as much to hear what she had gone through. When she exclaimed it snapped the one eyed male back to reality and let out a chuckle. "I didn't know what ya would like so I got that."

“Old dog? Christ, he’s not that old.” At least Kiryu had never thought of him as an old man. “He’s in prison right now.” He said with a slight frown, he missed his father’s company and guidance. “Yes, I am following in his footsteps, if I can be half the yakuza he is, I’ll be happy.” Kiryu always did have a great sense of hero worship when it came to his surrogate father.

Kiryu took another drink as well and flinched a bit when Majima slammed his glass down. He didn’t say anything to informal title, he figured this guy would do what he wanted whether Kiryu protested about it or not. “I’m 20.” He said and chuckled, “Well you don’t look 80, so you’ve got that going for you.”

His eyes narrowed at the pretty boy comment. “You’re fairly pretty yourself with that long, dark hair. So don’t judge.” He was half kidding. “Alright, what song do you want to hear? Or shall I just pick my favorite?” Kiryu rubbed his hands together and went over to the machine. “Since you think you’re such an old man, do you even know any recent songs?” Majima-san wasn’t the only one that could tease.

"Fuckin' hell kid. It wassa joke, I ain't got anything against yer dad." He shook his head, there were few things that Majima understood about how things went, and the vibe of pure love and worship he got from the younger male was one of them. "Well shit, just make sure ya don't fuck up and wind up in prison like him kay? Ya don't wanna wind up like me. A one-eyed fool." He cracked a fit of sarcastic laughter.

"20?" He raised a brow, that was a bit young to already have such a name in the Yakuza, but then again Majima had one by 21. Raising a brow he let out a soft chuckle. "Well, lookin' and feeling are two different things Kiryu-chan. Trying constantly going and going with very little rest, it can kill ya."

The narrowing of the others eyes made Majima laugh, it was quite obvious that Kiryu didn't particularly like that comment and retorted with one of his own. Though his emotions didn't show it and he didn't comment about it his hair was a touchy subject. It was grown out of spite of what he did. "I say go all out on yer favorite. Ya look like a rock n roll kinda guy. Oh I'm hurt Kiryu-chan 'course I know modern music."

For the first time since moving back from Yokohama, Tenji’s life was beginning to slot back together again. He’d been at Stardust for almost a month now, and not only had he scraped himself from the bottom of the list last week, he’d also had his first personal request the night before. Things were beginning to look up again.

He’d been number three back at Rogue, but he’d come to realise that his work-life-sleep-study balance was never going to let him climb any higher. Something had to give. Unfortunately for his prospects in later life, that give came in the form of a decision not to return to university when the new semester began. He hadn’t quite got around to breaking the news to his parents yet.

This was what he loved though, entertaining and being entertained. Not to mention the fact that it paid well enough to keep him in clover without having to lift a finger. “New customer for you, Akamine. Table four.” He heard the command from Satou and nodded, setting down the drinks he had been graciously delivering and going to the table as requested.

“Good evening, my name is Tenji, I’ll be taking care of you this eve… ning…” This was not the kind of customer he had been expecting. He was a professional, however, he could do this. He forced a smile. “Shall I get us started with some drinks?”

Majima was the type of man who didn’t care who knew his dirty little secrets, if he wanted to go to a host club he do it with no shame whatsoever. So him showing up at Stardust should have come to no surprise to anyone who was there. So when the doors opened and emerging from them a yellow snake-skinned jacket framing his heavily tattooed chest one could help but look his way.

His good eye scanned the rather elegant establishment. He was going to cause a scene, anyone who knew the Mad Dog knew that the smallest of things set him off. Luckily for him though a tall thick lipped male he could only gather was the manager of the fine establishment came forward and greeted him he cracked a crooked smile. “Who’s the new sexy thang over there?” He nodded towards the newcomer. “He seems lonely whaddya say I get him t'night?”

The male who had greeted him placed a scowl upon his lips. He knew about Shimano’s goon The Mad Dog and of course like most others he figured was here for a collection and Majima could sense that. His good eye narrowed a bit and his tongue snaked against his chapped lips. “Listen ‘ere ain’t got time for ya bullshit, I juss wanna enjoy m'self.” With those words Majima was brought to the table, his good eye searched the males face as he plopped himself down next to Tenji. “Lighten up pretty boy, ‘course I could ussa drink. I ain’t gonna bite ya, unless yer into that shit.”

Despite the stiffness in his shoulders, Tenji smiled just a little, apparently deciding to ignore the threat that he might get bitten. “What’re you drinking? Let’s get this party started.” He plucked the menu from the table and displayed it to his unusual guest, deciding to treat him just as he’d treat any other client.

“Now, forgive me if I’m wrong, but you look like a shochu drinker - somebody who doesn’t take any nonsense, am I right? Tell you what though - as it’s your first time with me, how about we get some warmed sake on the go and see where we finish.” He continued to show the menu in case the man had other ideas. “Anything to eat?”

He was surprised by just how professional Tenji was, blinking his eye for a moment he nodded quickly. "Course imma shochu drinker, but I'll settle with some warm sake if that's what ya wanna do." Shrugging his shoulders he let out an audible breath. The area in this place didn't feel as welcoming, then again why should it? He knew that Stardust had issues with the Shimano family, ones that were understandable but also frustrating because it caused the tensions to rise when one from the family came by.

"Lessee what ya got ta eat." Cracking a crooked smile Majima looked down at the menu and squinted his eye. His eyesight was honestly horrid but it worked well enough for him. "Hows 'bout a fruit tray?" Chewing on the inside of his cheek Majima turned to look the male over. "Ya seem all uptight kid." His voice dropped as he turned to look at him. "If you're really gonna make it in this business be open to receivin' any and all guests. Men, women, old, young. Ya name it they'll show, so think of this assa free lesson."

Makoto frowned, pushing her knees together as he spoke. She didn’t need to know anything of his past to hear the pauses in his speech. Whatever it was, she wouldn’t prise it out of him so easily. She had learned to stop asking questions quite quickly with Lee, but her curiosity was a vast and hearkening ocean. She ate in silence, wiping a stray blob of mayonnaise away and licking it from her fingertip.

“What!? I would never!” She was protesting before he’d even finished, almost dropping her chopsticks in a panic. “Is that what they said about me!?” For all that she realised this was a ridiculous and baseless accusation that nobody would believe to look at her, it struck somewhere deep within her and rang out a bellow she couldn’t contain. “I- I…”

All at once the food seemed to hit her stomach and tears rushed to her eyes. She screwed up her face and tried to push them back, unable to hold onto a soft noise of frustration.

He watched her, the silence that filled the large warehouse was nearly deafening to him. Giving off a soft sigh he pushed his hips and back against the couch, lifting up both his hands he propped his head up on them.

"See it doesn't make a lick a damn sense for a blind girl ta do something like that. That's why I brought ya here, I saved ya even though I'm yer hitman." He gave the slightest of chuckles as he watched her, pain seemed to riddle her face as she spoke. That talk he had with Lee not to long ago fresh in his mind. The man with the bat tattoo. He was the scum of the earth in Majima's eye, no one who prayed on young women deserve to even walk the same earth as him. "Hey, hey don't worry I know ya wouldn't, hell ya counldn't do somethin' like that."

Looking over at her Majima's one eye widened as he threw his hands up shaking them towards her. "Hey, hey! No, no, no please don't cry! You've cried enough for a lifetime in juss a few short days." It was clear that panic was beginning to settle in. He for some odd cared deeply for her and the tears that fell from her eyes and down soft cheeks tugged at his very heartstrings.

Flashing a toothy smile towards the male now sitting next to him. Suddenly turning to look at the bartender he spoke, his voice was low. “Yamazaki 12 year.” Watching as the bartender poured up their drinks, once he was handed his he shifted himself on the barstool. His hips pushed back against it as he leaned forward and picked up the glass.

Money had only recently became nothing more than an object to him, every night spent wasting away at the Cabaret Grand. Puuting rich snobs back in their place, dealing with the occasional loud mouth fool who thought he could overstep his bounds.

It was nice to finally relax, even if it was just for a few hours. Lifting the drink to his lips, he finally took a sip. Swirling around the amber liquid he looked over at Kiryu. “What’s your story kid? Just joined up for the hell of it?”

Kiryu shook his head. “No, not for the hell of it. My father is Kazama Shintaro. He adopted me and my sworn brother Nishiki when were children. I guess you could say I’m following in his footsteps. We both are.” His decision to join the yakuza was something he’d wanted to do since he was a teenager. It was certainly not just a whim.

Kiryu took a swallow of his drink, it went down smooth and he sighed in appreciation. “I don’t know why you’re calling me kid, you’re not that much older than me. At least you don’t look like you are. I’m far from a kid anyway.”

Buy this point he’d already had several major fights with Kuze, so he certainly felt older than just his twenty years in this moment. “Are we singing, or are you going to question me to death?”

"Are ya tellin' me that the old dog Kazama is still kickin it? I'll be dammed and you're his adopted son?" He laughed softly, realizing that he had hit the jackpot with this one. "Following in someone's footsteps is rough ain't it?" Letting out a wry chuckle Majima shook his head.

Majima downed the other bit of his rather expensive whiskey, nearly slamming the glass back on the bar he looked over at the other through hooded eyes. "My bad, I'll just call ya Kiryu-chan if ya want. How old are you anyways? 20? 21?" Curiosity wasn't something that Majima delved into very often. "I'm 24 but feel like I'm 80, guess that's the downside of becoming manager of Sotenbori's Cabaret Grand."

He had somewhat a love hate relationship with what he did for a living. "Well shit, ya wanna sing so bad get up there and blow my mind. Pretty boy." The last two words came out sarcastically playful. Standing from where he sat he walked over to sit on the couch next to the karaoke machine. "What kinda shit ya like?"

A frown played on his lips as he watched her, taking the broken chopsticks he opened another and snapped them handing it to her. “That’s what they say ain’t it? I’m not a superstitious person though.” Pulling a drag of the cigarette he had placed between his lips he watched her expression change the moment the takoyaki exploded inside of her mouth during the bite.

She seemed like she enjoyed it, quite a bit at that. A light chuckle emitted from his lips as he shook his head. “Not now, eat what you can and I’ll finish it ‘kay?” A brown eye staring down at the floor when her attitude changed. “Sorry can’t do it, and slipping out of Sotenbori can’t happen I’m under the watchful eye of a Yakuza.”

“No, no! It’s not yer fault.” Torn between the feelings he had and the truth was tiresome to say the least. Taking one last drag of the cigarette that had nearly burned down to the brown filter he leaned forward placing it in the ashetray.

A faint, breathless smile danced across Makoto’s lips when the chopsticks in her hand were replaced by another pair, this one smooth and straight with a single splinter that darted away into her lap from the search of her fingers. The more she learned about this stranger, the less she understood, but his easy kindness caused an ache in her chest so pure that she could almost feel tears stinging her eyes.

Taking another bite, Makoto swallowed hard around the lump rising in her throat. “Yakuza…? What do they want with you?” What did they want with her, for that matter? She lowered her face again, wobbling slightly as she felt him lean forward.

“Do…” She appeared troubled beyond belief, words soft with quiet dread. “What do you think they’ll do to me when they catch me?” They surely couldn’t run forever, and though she couldn’t understand the part of her which condoned the idea, Makoto thought at least if she was captured, she might be able to understand how she had sinned against Osaka’s underworld. She hadn’t the faintest idea that, in some way, she had already been caught.

Majima felt as though his past was left where it was. The year he spent in the hole being tortured and beaten nearly half to death, the moment they took his eye. Everything needed to be left well enough alone. Taking in an audible breath he gave a dry chuckle. "Ah... I've walked in the darkness far to long that's why they are after me... Its nothing you need to worry yourself with."

Rubbing the back of his neck with a gloved hand, The Lord of The Night shrugged a bit. "I'm not entirely sure what will happen if they got you... I was hired to kill you but it would seem that there are more people who just wanted to kidnap ya... I'm not sure why, I was told that ya were running an underground sex ring with collage girls but I now see that ain' t be true..."
