Sadly I didn't get any award this time but a huge congratulation to my friend Salla @snowponi I told you that you would win, didn't I! (at Helsinki)
My first shooting day on this film is done! Very happy but sadly can't share anything we have done yet... #olensuomalainen (at Helsinki)
Ok it came down to the finish line but here we go! Now I just hope some of it fits! (at Makeup-FX.com)
Before going on a film shoot I always need to do some makeup first to warm up and get the feeling back. So I usually end up torturing my lovely and patient wife, Heather. Thank you sweetie! (at Makeup-FX.com)
But joy is not everlasting sadly... Last mould opened beuatifully but then on this one a bleeder leeked and left me with a useless piece... Shit happens... But life goes on! (at Makeup-FX.com)
It is such a lovely feeling when the positive pretty much falls out of the mould! More like this please! Not much time until deadline.. (at Makeup-FX.com)
Working on sculpts for a upcoming film. Can't say more yet or show details. But I think it will be lots of fun! And lots of travelling too! Please share your best legal techniques to bring toxic stuff on planes.... I have just been lucky so far..... (at Makeup-FX.com)
I feel incredibly thankful and honoured! We (Johanna Eliason and me) just got nominated for the Finnish film award, the Jussi for the makeup design we did for "Tom of Finland"! (at Helsinki)
Testing my new Creality CR10S printer that can print full life size heads! Sooooo awesome. A full head took 24 hours to print and cost about 6 euro in materials. I have been waiting for this for 15 years when I first heard of 3D printers. At the moment it is printing a negative mould to test that too. (at Makeup-FX.com)
If you have never seen Konis Hupen with Hoch tirol you have missed out in life... This is your chance!
Just came home after a few fun days at the Malmö Opera where I have been helping out with mould work and teaching life casting. Actually came up with a little trick that cut the time of the life cast in nearly half! The last full life cast I did took 11 minutes from when I started mixing the materials until she walked out! I will do some more testing to make it even better and then I will tell you! (at Malmö Opera)
Hate to bore you all with more silicone corpse pictures.. But now he is finally all done! Or rather both them. We did one body for rehearsals and one for the shows showing him in his dirty, nasty character. Loved making this and will miss hanging around at the GBG opera prop department!! Love all of you!! (at GöteborgsOperan)
The first silicone corpse (for the opera rehearsals) is now finished and delivered! Yesterday we got the second body out of the mould and will start seaming and painting next week. This rehearsal body will not have any hair work done to it at all. But I really wanted to show you what we have done so far. It has been an amazingly fun project to be involved with! Huge thank you to my crew from the GothenburgOpera who has worked so very hard to learn under the fast pace this has been made. So massive thanks to Anna Lacarruba (who convinced her bosses to bring me in for this job), Johan Wejstål (who built the awesome skeleton armature), Jonna Pedevilla, Kerstin Olsen and Yofan Fan you all have been great to work with!! Here follows some mixed pictures of the "making of" Please remember the fact that it has been built for a large opera stage and that is why the paint work is quite strong so it can be seen from far away.
Did a quick test silicone cast of the head to check for flaws etc. Quite happy with the outcome! Next up is the full body! Scary! Anyone have have any good tips for injecting pre-mixed polyfoam deep inside a mould (the legs) without making a mess higher up in the mould? Consider injecting it through a hose but it would be single use hoses... Would be great to know of any better systems. Share with me! (at GöteborgsOperan)
It was a great day today. We opened the biggest mould I have ever done and it was awesome! Next week we will start brushing silicone in it. Fun fun! (at GöteborgsOperan)
Seriously Britain!! THIS IS NOT OK!!! The "Tom of Finland " movie has been rated 18 in the cinemas??? 18!!! Why are you still so bloody scared of talking about sexuality and nudity!! Especially when it is not between a man and a woman! Now it is really time to grow up!!! This is getting really old!! We are supposed to have gone past that sad stage now!! In Sweden the film was rated 11! And in Finland it was rated 12. And Finland only allowed gay marriage just six months ago but already for a 12 rating of this film!! UK allowed gay marriage 2013 but is not still ready for this film?? I am straight but I do belive in everyone's right to love whoever they want! And express and celebrate it in public like the rest of us! The film was made in very good taste considering how the subject could have invited to some raunchy scenes. But director Dome Karukoski stayed away from that to instead tell the story of a very important and interesting man of historical value instead of making a gay porn film! The film only contained a single naked semi-erect penis in a bar scene that was there because it was there in reality! And I made that rubber dick!! It is just silicone! All other hard dicks seen in the film are just Tom of Finlands drawn art that can sometimes be seen in the background. How that can be so offensive I do not understand! So the film actually didn't have any real sexual nudity at all!! All fiction!! So BBFC! Reconsider your stupid decision and let people see this film!! Maybe put a warning on screen before it starts instead ! "This film might contain rubber penises and penciled nuts. People with severe allergies or prejudice should inform the staff before it starts!" I would love to post a picture of the dick I made for it but if I do that this post will never be seen by anyone.... Maybe I will sneak it in in the comments later... ;) Like or comment on this post and you will get a "ping" when I post my first and only "dick pic" on the web! ;) Just typing those words hurts my fingers.... But I want to know your thoughts about this type of censorship and shutting down the possibility for people to see films like this. (at Makeup-FX.com)
