“Now? Well I was going to just walk around the city, and get lost I guess.” she shrugged and smiled.

“Unless.. you’d want to.. join me?” she asked tilting her head.

Mako suppressed a grin at her statement. She certainly was an expert at getting lost. "Are you kidding? Sounds great!" His enthusiasm shown through his eyes. He looked around; it was getting late. He locked up the front doors to the Gym, left a note on the door that there was food in the fridge for Bolin, and headed outside with Korra. "Which way first, oh wise Avatar?" he asked teasingly.

“Of course! I love Goldenrod City! Even though I haven’t even had time to look around yet…” she sighed and rubbed the back of her neck. “I just wanted to come see you both first, after I got all moved in this afternoon.” she replied smiling

He blinked in surprise. He probably would have expected it, but it still surprised him whenever anyone wanted to see him (and by extension, Bolin) for anything other than official business and trouble with the law. "Well that's. You know." He stuttered a little before rubbing the back of his neck. 

"So what are you going to do now?"

“Ha.. it has it’s perks..” she smiled and hugged him tight. “I recently moved here to Goldenrod from Violet City!” she replied. “It’s such a wonderful place here, you’ll be seeing me more often” she said smiling.

Mako hugged her back. She was moving here? Good. "That's great, Korra," he told her, still smiling one of his rare smiles. Then it fell slightly as he thought of something, but he didn't mention it. "It's good to see you again."

“Hello Mako..” Korra said smiling. “How have you been?”

"Korra...?" Mako stared at the unexpected face and grinned slightly. "I've been great! How's life as Champion?"

A challenger, eh?

As one of the two leaders of the Goldenrod City Gym, Mako saw a lot of newbies. All ages, classes, and elements lived in the city, and training was something that everyone could love.

He and Bo didn't go easy on new trainers. But they certainly made sure not to rough them up too much. Just enough so they'd want to come back and try again. Either way, Mako never showed off his true power, not for Gym battles.

Today, he was musing over his gym trainers. The gym worked like this: there were two paths to the Gym leaders, and challengers had to pick one. If they went down Bolin's side, they would face a number of trainers, but they would be underleveled. If they picked Mako's side, they would only fight a few trainers, but they would be powerful. And whichever side the challenger picked, that was the Gym leader who would choose the strongest of his Pokemon to fight. It was a system he and Bolin had worked out long ago, and it worked perfectly.

Mako's thoughts drifted to the two trainers that blocked him. One of them had been slacking lately, and Gym trainers were eager and came by the dozen. Every young trainer wanted to learn from a professional. Perhaps he would have to look over some of the other youngsters ripe and ready to go...

Suddenly, the door slammed open, and Mako stood. Whoever was at the door was no typical challenger. "Who's there?" he called. Bolin still wasn't back from his errands... was it him? Mako couldn't tell. He kept a hand on the Pokeball containing his Manectric, just in case.

Character Name: Mako

Age: 18

Job: Gym Leader; Pokeathelete

Location: Goldenrod City

Background: Mako's parents were killed when he was very young, leaving him with nothing and forcing him to take responsibility for his younger brother, Bolin. They lived on the streets of Goldenrod City for a while, just struggling to survive, when Mako managed to capture a Nidoran. To provide for himself and his brother, he began battling for money in the underground, using his firebending. Eventually, he made enough money to get by in a less criminal manner; along with Bolin, he became well known in the competitive battling  world. Eventually, he and Bolin gained enough respect to be selected as the Gym leaders of Goldenrod City, which they accepted.

Personality: Despite the fact that he is considered a jerk by many people, Mako is actually quite caring - about a very specific group of people. Mako cares deeply about the people who matter most to him and is determined to keep them safe; this sometimes causes him to ignore their feelings and override their personal decisions to put their safety even before his. He does what is necessary no matter what. His ultimate desire is to keep the ones he loves safe from harm.
