Ok let’s see… for this style my process usually is:

sketch just to get my compostion down

fill background I usually work with a neutral background, easier to see color value that way

block colors in just plonking colors down, seeing if stuff works or not

refine sketch adding in detail for painting over later

refine color making sure stuff still looks good before I actually detail it - use a large brush

merge sketch and color, color correction

detailing maybe 80% of the time spent ughguhg. all the previous steps just make this easier. don’t over render stuff, suggest things.

more color correction/overlay and then you’re done

You can see I painted on the wrong layer at the start lol. I flip the canvas a lot to check for errors. What else…I use the default brushes for sai (Brush set to 100% density). I still don’t know how the hell Itachi got tear troughs that extensive lmao whatever my son

It’s a buddish symbol for Buddha’s heart and mind to mean peace. The swastika is at an diamond angle while this one is more like a box

It’s called a manji ( 卍 ) and it is the original design for the Caged Bird Curse Seal. From the Naruto wiki:

Because of the seal’s resemblance to a manji, which in actuality is a Hindu and Buddhist symbol, but more commonly associated with the inverted swastika of the Nazi — it is replaced with an “X” in the anime version of the series to avoid confusion. It receives the same treatment in Viz’s monthly distribution of the English manga, but the original design is retained in Viz’s volume compilations. The Viz version of the manga has also taken care to always mention that the symbol is not a swastika whenever it is displayed.

I prefer the manga design so that’s what I used.
