We are learning in Web Authoring class that we have to make all of our designs work in almost every web browser, because we never know which one any person will be using. So, I was surprised but not at the same time at how barely people use other browsers other than Chrome. Microsoft announced that Edge is no longer going to be available and that they're changing it for another one. This started a concern for Firefox since they're not getting that much presence either. Apparently, being on mobile is what's important now since most traffic is mobile based, and that's where they fail to be present. I think Firefox is a great web browser and would not like to see it fail.

Relating to my last post I found this interesting. Maybe that's why a trend of "dark mode" or "night mode" is starting to be developed in most apps. I'm definitely thankful for it, as battery life is also a good thing to consider in these times.

Why we are drawn to dark interfaces.

Right now there is a trend going on on every page like twitter ans youtube for example. They are releasing their dark interfaces, calling it "dark mode" or "night mode". It basically consists of a dark background, making everything stand out more at night. Some people though are more drawn to it and decide to use it always. I have to admit I'm one of those people, dark interfaces have always drawn to me way more than the ones full of light. I find them easier to navigate and easier to get around. This article explains a bit about this. Personally, I choose to stay with "dark mode" at every time of the day if it's available.

When I first started the course I was really excited about learning how to build websites, as this was something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, but always thought it was way more complicated. We still have a lot to learn, but I’m really happy with what we’ve learned so far and I’m eager to continue learning more and more.

Google search turns 20! It was really interesting to see all the info they have recorded and also it’s probably one of the coolest webpages I’ve seen, it’s really interactive and on every line you click there’s a new fact about the topic you picked and the year in which it was a popular search.

Apple and Google are cracking down on obnoxious online ads. And they just might change the way the web works in the process.

Found this really interesting article about how Chrome and Safari are changing the way ads work, basically sometimes blocking them or not allowing them to play audio or video without our permission. It also said that it’ll sometimes block online third parties from seeing what we do online.

If true, I think it’s going to be very interesting to see. We all know how annoying ads are and how concerned we are about our privacy, so controlling these things a little is going to make the web a lot friendlier. Don’t want to be super optimistic about it until I actually see change, but I’m glad they’re taking it into consideration.
