“ it’s not a cover up . ” his gaze is dropping , nails scratching at his jaw as he shifts uncomfortably . “ i swear it fucking isn’t . ” he sounds frustrated , unable to find a way out – or through this . how was he ever meant to get her to trust him again ? “ how was i supposed to tell you ? i don’t – i don’t know . everybody that finds out just … just stops fucking talking to me . ” there’s a small pause , gaze avoiding hers now . he’s fucking terrified . “ i just didn’t want to lose you too . ”
her eyes stay locked on him, letting them wander across his features once he drops his gaze — avoiding the eye contact she was searching for. ❛ you're saying it's not a cover up, then you can't look me in the eyes after dropping a bomb like that. ❜ she tries to keep a nonchalant tone of voice despite the spike in her blood pressure and keep a level head through the conversation. ❛ how am i expected to believe what you're saying and take it as you not lying to me when you couldn't tell me the truth ? ❜ her comment is more rhetorical rather than expecting an answer from him. listening as he claims the inevitable loss of contact with people following his truth being exposed, brows knit together as she processes. lets it all sit in her mind, thinking about her next words and move carefully to not be like the majority in his life. ❛ and you assumed that because everyone else does that, i would ? ❜ her voice drops, the weight of the conversation finally coming into perspective before she releases a sharp breath. ❛ it's sad that you decided to keep the truth from me because you didn't want to lose me. you'd be more likely to lose me because you didn't tell me the truth. ❜
