Problem

I sent my favorite dragon to get to lvl 25, with her fully stoned already. The leveler has disappeared, and half her dragons are starving. I’ve worked with her before so I know she’s reliable. I worked so hard on that dragon, and I don’t want to lose her. What do I do?

There’s no secret at all, this has been repeated everywhere (both on FR and DR) tons of times, so I’ll have to disappoint you: I earn my treasure on AH. I buy cheap stuff that people want to sell very fast and resell it for more. Just yesterday I bought a sprite for 3kg and resold it for 4kg earning 1kg in less than 2 hours. However, you need to always have some money on hand, and by “some” I mean several thousands of gems and several millions of treasure in order to snipe any underpriced stuff you see. And you need to know prices really well as sometimes things get overpriced for a couple of days or even a week, and those that seem to be cheap are, in fact, priced normally.

I don’t dig or scavenge at all (except on festivals) but I check this guide http://flightrising.com/main.php?board=gde&id=1091175&p=mb to see where I can get more expensive items and tend to gather there. I try to choose 1-2 star items because while 4-star cost more, they drop very rarely, while sempervivum drop in heaps and cost 6-7k apiece even now, and used to cost more at first, I got a couple of mil just thanks to them. You need to check the prices though, as some things in the list don’t sell well. Ingredients for familiars and popular apparel like silks/sylvan usually cost more and sell faster, as well as things for new stuff.

I also buy cheap hatchlings, preferably as old as possible (3-4 days) and fill all the slots I have with them, then when they grow up I sell them as fodder. If coli works for you, that’s even better as training them would be even more profitable!

It’s a week before the festival

And the currency rate has already crashed.  She sees lots of sales for sprockets at four gems a pop, but then there are some people already selling for 2 gems a go, and in full stacks!

That is insane in the given Auction House set up.  Getting everything out of your mail is a hassle, and people are willing to pay more to not have to do it.

Mama was selling last festival at five gems a piece on the first day before it crashed.  Some people just don’t think and want to ruin things for everyone.  

As everyone knows, Mama’s a big proponent of large undercuts on big ticket items in order to avoid destabilizing the market.  This only works on things with a slow and steady ability to gain the items.  People aspy the 500 gem item in the sea of 650′s and gobble it up.  Meanwhile 649s won’t sell, it’s just a means to be ontop, then 648, 647s, etc.  And like the Roc Familiars, suddenly they’re going for 300-400 gems a piece depending on the market.

Festival Currency floods the market.  Many people buy it, but not enough to gobble down the all the undercuts, resulting in Flight Rising’s AH’s typical race to the bottom, like hatching prices.

Still, a stack is hard to get.

So I was hoping to submit this accent to your competition while also getting some feedback on it if you don’t mind. I am trying to sell it in my accent shop and I’m having no success and I wasn’t sure if it was because of poor advertising or if it’s just not that stellar and I wanted to know what you thought.

(Also if you were wanting new accent that aren’t currently trying to be sold I’m sorry, I wasn’t sure and I really wanted the feedback from you and the community.)

Anways, how is your accent shop?  Are other things being ordered?  That would help ID if it's advertising or the accent.

So Mama poked at it in GIMP to see it layered over a few dragons.  Tricky as Mama sucks balls and could only shittily use color picker to edit out the gray.

So, she is having minor issues making out how exactly this would look.

But, as you asked for concrit, prepare yourself, Mama is sorry if feelings are hurt, but Mama believes in really good concrit if she's capable of it.

Anyways, you got some good depth going on there with how the layers are, and bold colors, exellent use of the drawing space on the fermale imp.  However, you missed the opertunity to up your depth game by having the smoke and silks intertwined; all of the smoke is ontop of the silk, when you could have had them weaving.

Thing is, you have two different kinds of shapes going on, you got the large sweeping curves of the red and orange silk like markings, but then you have smaller curves of the smoke.

On the neck, it's hella busy, brings the attention there, but there's not much in the way of lines to draw the eye into other elements.  The sharper curves make it potentially harder for the accent to look good on genes with their own designs, such as cherub.

Strangely, the smoke on the face and that bit on the tail are REALLY appealing.  The bit on the tail is pulling at Mama's eyes and tail, wow, if there was a whole accent of that, yes.  Vaguely reminds her of Mariner's Tattoos (17523) but very different--strong lines of sea colors.  She THINKS it appeals so much because the bit on the tail follows the line of the dragon rather than going across it like on the wings.  This might be why the silk lines are appealing, while they move across the curves point in the same direction as the dragon's lines.

Furthermore, the smoke and the silks are doing the complementory color thing, while being harmonious inside their own elements, and they are spread over the body.  Might make it tricky to find a dragon that doesn't clash with them.

Peacock smoke on a lighter color (Mama used Peridot) looks GREAT with the smoke patterns you have going on.  Grapefruit Cryface is wonderul with the silks, but less with the smoke. Silks are great on purples and blues, even mullberry poitox or crimson petalfly.  Both are terrible with Orca Cheub Seraph.

She guesses Tarnish and Copper are good bets, because the greens and browns pull it together harmoniously

Also, she's not sure what you're doing with the limb wraps.  Does it have to do with how the smoke is escaping the red/gold edged scales?

Providing that the submission is also acceptable to the admins of FR Mama will then provide Accent Blueprint (10) to the winner.  If a skin wins Mama will shell out for a Skin Blueprint (5).  The Winner must also send back a copy of the accent to Mama’s proxy.  A little sketchy?  Maybe, but Mama’s putting down more than 2kg for this, and would like something pretty for her dragons to wear.

if you wait long enough before buying retired festival skins/accent, you will be able to get them dirt cheap from AH and forum. many of them are lower than MP price.

once i notice this trend, i stop buying festival crap for investment. unless your flight has dom during the festival and you want to make quick buck. but after the festival ended, the hype pretty much died.

Retired stuff only starts paying off after several months, Crystal Rainbow from the Crystalline Gala is already nearly 75kT/80g.  It also heavily depends on the accent.  Also strongly dependent on what the accent is, of course.

But right after, yeah, you can get them cheaper.  Maybe.  It’s a gamble.

Just to help other anon with gem thing and to tack onto what you were saying, I sell food stacks worth 4 and 5 points per item for about 75k and they sell within a few days. If you did do the 800:1, that's 93 gems.

You’re hella better off selling for treasure and then trading on the forums then, because stacks of butterflyfish (4-5 points depending on the type) sell for under 20 gems on the AH.  So you’re better off forum flipping.

What's a good fast way to make gems? I don't mean the most efficient exactly but like, something that would take the least time.

Short answer, flipping, and waving around loads of treasure on the forums, but you gotta wave around at least 800:1 to do it.

You can also sell Stacks of food, seafood and insects are best.  Used to be you could do a stack of 4 point food for 25 gems.  But Mama got out of that when forum sellers drove down the price, though it changes as their interest waxes and wanes.

Oh, and undercutting, but huge chunks.
