When writing a sentence, what is it the correct order of wording? For example, "I am sick with the flu". I know each word in Gàidhlig, but I'm unsure or the correct order. "Tha mi" should always come first correct?

the long answer to this question is a more complicated and I’m not sure it would be useful to you at this point, so I’ll stick with the short one.

the basic word order in Gaelic is verb - subject - object, with two variations that matter as a beginner:

for sentences like “I am cold”, the worder order is verb (i.e., some form of tha) - subject - complement: tha mi fuar 

for sentences like “I am running” (i.e., sentences with a verb-noun), the word order is verb (i.e., some form of tha) - subject - verb-noun - object: tha i a’ faicinn daoine

that said, it’s also worth noting that a word-for-word translation from English in this context would sound a bit unnatural/markedly Learner Gaelic: rather than *tha mi tinn leis a’ chratan mhòr, a more usual phrasing would be tha (an) cnatan orm, lit. “(the) flu is on me”.

this construction with air is pretty common for conditions: illness, hunger, thirst, anger, and others.
