Finally done with Neuvi. It was a lot of work (his honor has a lot of details on his clothes!) but this one is definitely one of my favorite fanarts in this series so far 💙🌊

Furina is my favorite Genshin character, both for her character design but also her story. Her struggle of having to put on a smile and act a certain way when on the inside she feels constant worry and anxiety is, well, very relatable. Here’s hoping I managed to do her justice 💙🩵🤍

Next Hydro user is Childe/Tartaglia! 🌊🏹 I went back and forth on what flower or artifact to use but decided sunflowers were quite fitting🌻

I’ve been wanting to branch out from my usual fandoms and draw something new, and while I don’t play Genshin or any HoYo game for that matter, the character design in Genshin was something I’d been admiring from afar for a while. This fanart series is inspired by TCGs and various floral (real world and in-game) motifs associated with the characters. I’m currently planning to draw around 5-6 characters for each of the 7 elements, so this is gonna be quite a big project for me 😅

Of all the element users I found myself liking the Hydro users the most (probably cus I like the color blue lol 💙🩵🤍) and I love Columbina’s ethereal lunar asthetics so I’m starting this series with her 🌙

I was being indecisive about whether gold or rose gold color looks better for the frame, so I decided to post both 😂 I love Maomao’s expression in the piece and the little knowing smirk she exchanges with Jinshi!

My very first Frieren fanart! When I saw the art nouveau Frieren artwork I knew I wanted to include it in this series. And while I was originally planning to be go with a more simple field of blue moon weed flowers in the bottom frame, I felt showing the ring Himmel gave to Frieren would be more meaningful 💙

Done with the first piece in this Mucha-inspired series! This is such an iconic and bittersweet scene from Princess Tutu, and while I did struggle with the colors for a bit, I think it turned out well ;v;

A little self indulgent fanart for Valentines Day 😘😝 I tried to play around with the background and line color so you guys get two for the price of one (like discounted chocolates after Valentine’s Day lmao🤣)

The pose is based on a jewelry store ad I saw everyday on the side of the freeway. I really liked how the models looked and always wanted to reference it for a fanart piece. I know thematically the pose doesn’t exactly break new ground from past BL/Helios fanart I’ve drawn, but hey, what can I say? I know what I like 🤣

The third and final piece for the Sakura floriography series is actually the first one I came up with, conceptually.

I saw some pictures of skeleton flowers online, so called because the petals turn clear when they get wet, and I thought “neat, kind of like Sakura’s Clear Cards” and the proceeded to have a big brain moment 😂 And while Sakura has many costumes, her clear card feather dress is arguably one of her most dramatic, which I had a lot of fun drawing, along with rendering the translucent quality of the skeleton flowers. 🤍

For the second Sakura floriography I chose pink lilies. The combination of pink and white reminds me a lot of the outfit Sakura wore in the Sakura Card arc OP along with my favorite CCS song: Platinum.

Pink lilies symbolize love and affection, qualities that help underpin her extraordinary magical power in the story. With her signature spell, “It’ll definitely be okay!”, the optimism exuded by Sakura’s character has become a touch stone for many fans who grew up reading about her adventures 🌸

The first of three Sakura floriography! 🌸 And of course I had to use cherry blossoms for her; it’s literally her name! 😆

There are many varieties of cherry blossoms, but I went with the most well known variety: the five petal Yoshino with it’s delicate blush pink color 💖

You might be surprised I didn’t choose the rose for Endymion. One reason for that is bc I’m going by the manga designs and he’s afflicted with roses only in the 90’s anime 😆

Instead, I wanted to use the dogwood flower, which symbolize rebirth and love overcoming adversity, which this pair of star-crossed lovers had to do a lot of before getting a happy ending. I also wanted this piece to be a direct companion piece to the Princess Serenity piece, as sharpeyed viewer might notice the flower in her hair is a dogwood blossom. 😉

I’ve been punting around ideas for Serenity and Endymion for a long time (since when I first started this series, I’d say) but I’ve finally come up with something I’m happy with.

For Serenity I chose lilac to be her symbol. Lilac flowers symbolize first love and innocence. And since I’m going with the manga designs for the floriography series, I drew her with white hair, a color that is also associated with innocence. 🤍🌙
