RIP Sir Christopher Lee
manipulatorofminds || cont.
“I—yeah, actually, that’d be great,” she said with a weak smile as she forced herself to stand up a little straighter. “Believe it or not, when you can set yourself on fire at the blink of an eye, you tend to get dehydrated easily.”
Wanda heard what she said and then widened her eyes. "Set yourself on fire?" She asked curious. She then went and got the woman a big pitcher of water with a glass. She would be able to drink what she pleased then. "What happened? I'm very curious now." She said with a slight arch of her brow. She was very curious about all this indeed.
He knew this team wasn’t going to come together as easily as the last one had. They all had their issues, they had their own set of demons and they hadn’t really had the death his old team had had to bring them all together. Steve knew that bringing them all together was going to take a lot of work. More so because they weren’t a team, they were nothing more than individuals who’d come together to fight a common enemy. Even though he had Natasha helping him out, and he knew that Sam and Rhodes would most likely help out, in the end this was his team and he’d have to find that common ground to bring them all together. A part of him just hoped it wouldn’t take a major death for that to happen. He wasn’t certain any of them were ready to deal with the emotions that came with loss. Even though Wanda had lost a lot after Ultron he didn’t want to add to that with a death of a team mate. He just had to find a way of helping her integrate into the team one way or another.
“Yes, this is a team building exercise and as you’re part of the team… ” He allowed his words to trail off, knowing that he couldn’t force Wanda to join in. Though if she was going to have issues with being on the team knowing that Stark would have some input then maybe it was time to sit down and talk with her, to see if she truly wanted to be on the team or not. “I get that you’re upset and I understand that you don’t trust Stark. When I first met him I was the same way,” he explained, knowing that this conversation was going to be difficult. Especially as he knew that Tony had nothing to do with Strucker’s experiments. “But he had nothing to do with Strucker and his experiments. Tony’s company made the weapons that destroyed the building your parents were in but he didn’t force your hands. You and your brother chose to undergo the experiments.” Just like he’d chosen to go with Erskine and undergo the same sort of thing. He was probably the only one who understood to a degree just what she was going through.
Just because he understood, though, didn’t mean he was going to go easy on her. His job as their leader was to get them to work together as a team, to have them working like a well oiled machine. They all had their problems and he remembered how they all felt about working with Wanda. They’d all been leery because of what she could do. And yet Steve knew that given a choice she wouldn’t have done what she had. She’d been dead set on revenger and he knew what that path brought; nothing but pain. “If you don’t think you can do this no one will think any less of you,” he told her, hoping that she would see the reasoning in his words. If not – there wasn’t much he could do. In the end the choice had to be hers. “But you can’t keep holding onto this grudge for Stark. It’ll eventually poison the team and I can’t allow that to happen. We need to work together and not as individuals just haphazardly thrown together.”
Wanda winced at the mention of her brother. She was about to berate Steve for it but she understood what he meant. They'd willingly changed themselves. She listened carefully to what he said and then curled her hands into fists. She hated it when he was right. "I know...I'll come along and be nice to Stark." She said. She had to defer to Steve. He was the leader of the Avengers. What he said to her was basically gospel for the most part. There were a lot of things she did not agree with and never would. "What is the training exercise today?" She asked. Her tone was more curious than belligerent. She ran a hand through her hair and then let out a nervous puff of air. She was scared to be around the others. She trusted Steve and Clint without question. Everyone she was far more cautious about. She was starting to warm to Rhodes. He seemed like a nice man indeed. Much better than what Stark was.
Wanda sighed. She was going to find it hard to hide her resentment and anger towards the millionaire. Wanda would try hard though. She was sure that her brother would not want her to pass up this brilliant opportunity to do some good with their lives. She looked at Steve. "Will the others trust me?" She asked him. She was pretty sure that only Steve and Clint would trust her at this point. Thor would be reminded of his brother. Thinking on Loki she shuddered. She did feel some sympathy for the trickster but she said nothing of that. No doubt it would not endear her to the others. "I know what I did to them, and you, was wrong at the time it seemed like the right thing to do." She told him. She was nervous about that. She had made them see their deepest and darkest fear. She was sure it would make them pretty edgy around her.
She was about to say more when Stark appeared. As usual he looked like he needed a good nights sleep and a good meal down his neck. Wanda did not dare comment on that though. Stark could get pretty nasty about things like that. He smiled warmly at Steve but his smiled thinned as she looked at Wanda. "We wondered where you'd got to Spangles. Everyone is ready, JARVIS is keeping an eye on things for us. By the way..." He paused. He wasn't about to tell him what'd he'd found. "It can wait. If you don't get down there Thor and Banner will end up having contest on strength and I'm not paying for repairs again." Stark said with a meaningful tone. Wanda looked at Stark. "But maybe Winifred here can use her powers to fix things up. Ever tried that?" He asked. her. Wanda blanched and her cheeks turned red with embarrassment. "Not yet, I can experiment if you'd like." She offered quietly. He nodded to show his appreciation. He began to walk towards the training suite he'd developed. It was perfect for training.

Feeling pretty down about this account and also commanderofthescoiatael. I feel like my writing is pathetic. That I annoy people so much that I drive them away. I feel like I've been such a jerk and I guess I just feel stupid. I don't have a lot of self confidence and it gets knocked a lot on here. I know I constantly ramble on and on. I'm sorry about that. I plan on lurking on turnyourfacetothemoonlight and maybe on jackxweston but I don't remember the password quite well. Anyway if anyone cares that's where I'll be. I know I'm being mardy and sulky but I can't help it. I just feel horrible.

Steve knew people were looking but he couldn’t hold on any longer. He just couldn’t bring himself to attack. Facing an enemy wasn’t new. It wasn’t different. It wasn’t strange. It was his life. It was what he was created for. If he couldn’t do that anymore, what would he be? What use would he have. None. However here he was gasping, panting for air with a tight chest, shield shaking his in his own, usually so strong grip. Before he knew it he was on his knees, unable to hold his own weight and just begging for this to be over. He’d give anything for this to be just another one of those nightmares he suffered from.

Wanda rushed over to Steve and then placed a hand gently on his shoulder. Her face was worried. She didn't want to pry in his mind. "Steve, Captain...you can't freeze up." She told him. Her voice was firm. She took a deep breath and then knelt down so that she was his height. "You're not fighting the Nazi army or HYDRA now Steve. You're fighting with us against Doctor Doom. We need you're help. Please focus on my voice." She told him. She had to draw him out of the funk he was in. She sighed and then bit down on her lips. "People are counting on you." She told him. A worried look was on her face. She didn't really want Steve to freeze up and get hurt. She made sure she was protecting the man and the others around her.

Wanda looked at the other woman and then smiled gently. "Never thought I'd see you again. How've you been?" She asked the woman. Her lips were curved into a small smile as she looked at the woman. "How's your zoo?" She asked speaking about the animals the young woman had.
"Are you alright?"

“M-moderately speaking, yeah. I’ve been better, but I’m not at my worst.”
"Worst?" Wanda questioned with an arch of her brow. "You've been worse?" she asked with an incredulous tone. She was pretty sure that what the woman had been through was pretty bad. "Would you like some water?" Wanda asked. She would have pried in the woman's mind but she thought better of it.

In all honesty, Patrick was not necessarily paying the younger woman much mind, aside from an inquisitive look at her, scanning her body’s systems. It wasn’t until her body started registering as something other than the normal Humans he had inspected before, that his look took a more serious tone. Was this woman another Witch? Something about her seemed - different.
His eyes followed her loosely as she got up, making her way toward him. What was this person? What was she up to?
“Bored?” He said casually, his tone highlighting that she wasn’t wrong in her assumption. “I suppose I am, but what is it you plan to do to remedy that?” He replied with a sly half-smile. His guard remained up as the interaction took place, but his physical and vocal responses were carefully measured to mask the fact.

Wanda offered a smile. Her expression as carefully guarded. She had to make sure that was on her guard. "General conversation. You'll not be bored then." She told him with a grin. She settled down in a chair. Her minds defences were carefully in place. Strange would no doubt notice but he could trust her.
"How long have you lived here?" She asked softly. It was just general fishing for information. She then lowered her guard and began to skim the man's mind. It was not a lot of information. She didn't want to alert the man as to what she was doing. "You know, you're probably the most interesting person here." She said with an arch of her brow. She glanced around her and noticed a few people were staring. They were a bit nervous of the two. "They seem very nervous." She said her voice dropping to a whisper.

Wanda had been sat at a café. She had been here for the past hour or so. No one had come up to her and no one had spoken to her. Wanda had no doubt it was due to the fact she was strange. She had a very strange aura. She then noticed a man staring at her. There was something strange about him. More than even she was. She sent off a quick mental image to Doctor Strange. The man seemed mildly concerned. However he did nothing more than reassure Wanda and tell her to keep an eye on the man.
She rolled her shoulders and then closed her eyes for a moment. She had to make sure that no one detected their conversation. She was aware of a powerful telepath somewhere in the area. She steeled her courage and looked at the man with an expression of contempt. She walked over to him masking the expression vary carefully. "Would you like some company. You seem bored." She said with a light laugh. Her eyes were carefully guarded though.

Wanda walked towards Steve. Her face was cautious. She knew that she had to do this training exercise but she was very nervous. Wanda licked her dry lips as she looked at Steve with a building sense of apprehension. "Captain, do you need me for this? I just..." She paused. She didn't know if she could reveal that she couldn't trust Tony Stark. Wanda was terrified of seeing Bruce Banner again not to mention Thor. The god of thunder would no doubt be very angry with her. She had caused him quite a bit of trouble in the past.
She swallowed her nerves. "I can't bring myself to trust Stark. He made me what I am today...I resent that he gets everything.." She paused mid rant. She took a deep breath and then looked down at the floor. "I just don't trust him. I can catch up if you want me to but I can't do this one." She said. Wanda's cheeks grew pink. She was embarrassed about asking Steve for this.
He was a good man and she did want to help him but she wanted to avoid Stark. She also wanted to avoid Banner. Their relationship had been less than amicable. She waited to see what Steve would say to her.

Wanda had been sat at a café in London. She had been in London for the past few weeks. She was setting up an Avengers base with the help of Rhodes and a few others. She noticed that a man was staring at her. She frowned. "What are you staring at?" She asked. Her accent placed her in eastern Europe. She wasn't very impressed with the man that was for sure.

Walking himself beside the witch as she spoke had turned out to be more of a content experience than what he was anticipating. Small, insignificant twigs and other nature particles crunched and popped under their boots, somehow adding to the serenity. As she mentioned his eldest in the midst of this Pietro, his features dampened gradually.
It wasn’t often Loki spoke of the fate his son had been subjected to. It caused too much heartache to spare a millennia. He missed his boy dearly, even though Sleipnir had not been the product of the old-fashioned lovemaking often a sentimental amount of individuals engaged in, he still carried him within those couple months that were tedious and unbearable.
Her vulgar name for the old fool was more than alittle amusing, causing his lips to turn upwards in a humorous smile. "What I would give to see you say that to his face.”
Wanda moved away from him and towards the outline of a cave, hidden with the coverage of shuddersome thorn and oak bushes, slowed his steps, not wanting cause further disruptions as she was in the midst of deciphering what lied beyond. But, was there someone inside? There was a faint, fragmented speech that the silence aided in hearing more clearly.
Gibberish, of course.
Whoever was inside guarding the scepter for this long-period of time must’ve gone mad by now…Tenfold if the being was mortal. Eyes flickering in return to Wanda, they rounded once something had seized her form, his hands steadying her as she bumped into him. “A curse, perhaps? It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if there was a creature that wanted this for itself. Or one of those HYDRA mortals built a device around the area that reflects magical properties.”
One way or another, they were both powerless.
The young sorcerer made a movement to stop her, but her will was steel. Exhaling a visible breath, slender ran themselves through obsidian tresses. “You damn fool..”
Once the brunette emerged from the cave, his stomach dropped at the sight of the nasty, crimson scratch across her face, her frantic gasps for air that sound painful with each inhale. Running towards her, Loki gathered the woman in his arms, guiding her away from the scene, her muttering plaguing his ears.
’its not here..’
Wanda felt Loki move her away from the cave. Her breathing was uneven and she looked rather ashamed of herself. She couldn't understand where the thing had been moved to. She felt desperate. All she wanted was her brother free and she wanted to help Loki. He had been badly treated by Odin and Thor. She took a deep breath and then looked at Loki. "I don't know how I can find the sceptre now. I was so sure it was here." Wanda told the man. She sucked in a deep breath. She didn't know she could find it. A thought came to her. She could use her power to find it. It would almost drain her but she would be able to find it. She moved away from Loki her eyes on him. "I...have a very unique gift. I'll have to use it find the sceptre. Please don't be alarmed." Wanda said to him. She did not want to frighten him. She doubted he could be frightened though.
She did not doubt that he had seen a lot in his life. She closed her eyes. She let her palm face upwards. They began to glow red. She focused her thoughts. She could sense Loki's biorhythms. She synchronised her rhythms to his. The power from her palms was chaos magic. A magic she had become well versed in. She focused her will on finding the sceptre. She would never dream of using it around any HYDRA agents. "Please don't...move." Wanda told him. She had to focus and Loki was her grounding point. She slowly began to extend her power. Beads of sweat began to form at her brow. the forest was now completely silent but she could sense the other creatures. The further she got the weaker she felt. The more she had to cling to Loki's heartbeat. Her eyes flew open. they were glowing red and her breathing as very shallow.
She could sense the sceptre. The red light died around her and she blinked owlishly at Loki. Her face was deathly pale. She had searched most of the world within a few moments. Every possibility and every existence. She felt sick and she swayed a little. "I've found it." Wanda said lethargically. She pointed towards the direction she sensed the sceptre. She crossed her arms over her chest feeling the chill. Her eyes were still glowing red. She was struggling to close down the power. It was the nature of chaos. It was untameable. She eventually calmed down and her face appeared to be more hollow than before.
She looked up at the sky. It was rumbling with thunder. She shuddered and made sure she was close to Loki. "This storm isn't natural." She said. She did the only thing she did in a panic she grabbed Loki's hand. Normally she would have grabbed her brother's hand. She was panicking and she was shivering. "I don't like this.." She said. She sniffed the air cautiously like she could smell any danger. She was half driven made and half convinced Odin would appear. Or Someone equally dangerous would be sent to hurt her.

Wanda was sat down in the room. Her eyes were focused on the floor. Her hair was pulled back in a loose ponytail. She felt the presence of someone close by. She flinched at the sense and then looked up to see Natasha. "Miss Romanoff, can I help you?" She asked politely. Her eyes were looking rather tired thanks to the lack of sleep she'd be having.

Wanda’s screams were heartbroken, wild, and all-too-familiar. Recently Scotty had taken to patrolling near her rooms at night, just so that he could prevent them. Now, he let out a long sigh and went to her room, first knocking before entering to place a hand on her shoulder. He made sure his mind was clear and calm before he shook gently, speaking almost under his breath.
“Wanda. Wake up. It’s just a dream.”
Wanda felt the hand on her shoulder and she was about to lash out when she sensed the calm in the mind. The familiar feel of the mind and the voice made her realise that it was Scotty. Her eyes were bleary as she looked at the man before her. She could feel the cold sweat at her brow. She was shivering and her face was pale. She wiped her eyes and she could feel the dampness against her fingers. "Scotty...I'm sorry." Wanda said softly She let her mind connect to the calm mind of her companion for a few seconds. She took a few shaky breaths and then broke off the mental connection. "I had a nasty dream." She admitted even though that was obvious. "It was about...my brother and my parents." She told him. She walked over to the chest of draws where a jug of water was laid out. She poured out a cold glass.
She drunk it very quickly and then looked at Scotty. "You shouldn't have to look after me like this. You're a good friend." She told him. She felt her cheeks burn with shame as she thought of how many times Scotty had to do this. She was of a fragile sense of mind and she was tired of being a burden to other people. "I was thinking about talking to a professional...about my mind." She said with another blush. She had never spoke about it before. She was scared to speak to someone due to the fact that they would be sure to lock her up. Maybe it was something she should do. "Again I'm really sorry..." She said softly.
