My new exclusive @artonapostcard x @jealous_london Detox VII print edition will be available from tomorrow and I’m excited to announce that I will be doing an instagram takeover on @artonapostcard @jealous_london. ‘Detox VII’, an original mini painting, was sold at the last art on a postcard auction, which raised money for Hepatitis C Trust, a cause that is very close to my heart as my partner is a hepatitis C survivor. The piece was inspired by my observations of the contemporary world and human nature. The spiritual journeys of self improvement junkies, escapists - the fragile and emotional beings that we are. On a mission to heal, I use charcoal face masks and pore nose strips as a metaphor for this desire to be pure, free of past traumas and pain. Detox of a soul. Home 100x70cm 6 layer screenprint on paper Edition of 35 Delving into the current swathed waters of immigration and concepts of belonging, ‘Home’ sees the artist/Marcelina challenging basic stereotypes of home as a physical location to be grasped or defended. Her aim was more to explore the idea of being forever a foreigner in times of uncertainty and unrest. She uses soothing earthy tones to foster a feeling of comfort, highlighting the importance of learning to create inner lands where prejudice doesn’t exist, and a contemplation of the true home being within ourselves.
