It is genuinely INSANE to me the way Starsky & Hutch was ripped away from queer culture. Here's a show where everyone, cast crew and audience, knew what was happening and then all the queerness gets erased from culture because people didn't want to deal with it. Imagine what a difference it might have made to all those 80s and 90s kids who were told the show was about muscle cars and womanizers. That's what I thought the show was about until I watched it and I study TV for a living. I thought it was a silly goofy 70s testosterone-fueled show. The idea that we had this complete story and work of art and it got totally discarded is outrageous and heartbreaking.

Make S&H a cornerstone of historical queer representation in classes is what I'm saying.
