Seaside Scottish Sketches
There were 2 sketches that has been penciled in the holiday sketch book and needed the watercolours adding.
Ardersier Sundown
Nairn Grasses.
Holiday Sketch book now goes away until the next trip.
Scottish Sketches
Scenes captured in my sketchbook during last week’s Highland break. Time spent wandering by the sea, visiting historical sites and admiring the flora.
Home time.
At the end of our Highland Coastal stay the kind weather has enabled many shoreline wanderings. Fabulous views across the Firth.
Coastal blooms – the poppies were stunning.
Late evening sundown’s from the cottage.
To our delight we saw the Moray dolphins – photographing them proved difficult.
Highland Holiday
A few days in the Highlands.
Beaches with stormy skies make interesting photos.
Numerous bees gathering pollen in the sunny periods.
Ancient History at atmospheric Clava Cairns.
About me.
Here’s something I came across about me on AI. Some correct and some way off. Found it quite amusing.
June Blooms
Spent the weekend in Nottinghamshire with friends. Walking round the villages and country lanes encountered some lovely blooms. On viewing the photos cropped them into squares and I’m thinking that painting with gouache on black paper would be good.
No Rush.
Today at Art Group I completed 2 watercolour pictures started on holidays. Under the Palms began last Nov in Florida and I think is heading into a small frame. Portpatrick was pencilled in my sketch book in April. I won’t be accused of rushing things.
Web overhaul.
Along with a review / re-vamp on my web site photo galleries (which I’m still working on) finished editing my Galloway pictures. Wonderful days spent enjoying the sunshine, sea and flora. Pics added to my new web page, Coast Scotland – Galloway and revamped flower pages.
EVAN Gallery Days
Couple of days in the EVAN Gallery for me. As always some fab work to see. Best appreciated in person if you’re in the area. 10am – 4pm.
Spring Oaks
The 2nd of my recently started “pleine aire” artworks. Originally worked as a sketch that I realised had more potential. Spring Oaks is from the grounds of Warcop Hall. You can see the stages from sketch to finished piece here.
Spring Afternoon
Enjoyable afternoon at Acorn Bank wandering through the woodlands and gardens in the Sunshine. Clear skies reflected in the waters, trees in fresh green leaves and an abundance of spring flowers.
Morris in the Woods
Whilst filming an Eden Valley Artistic Network Promotional video, spent the afternoon in a woodland where there was an abandoned car. It shouldn’t have been there but over the years nature was taking over, and I liked how it was merging into the environment. You can see the work in progress from here.
Sketching at Warcop
Warcop Art and Craft fair is over. The plan this time was sketching in the village. However the weather was cool and damp so Sundays session saw me alone outside the village hall sketching the view across the field. Which didn’t last long and I retreated inside with a photo on my phone. Monday, however, was bright and warm and we’d been invited into the grounds of Warcop Hall where we found oak trees in spring leaf and a mass of bluebells. Same area with different angles produced 3 very different sketches and the first time with pastels for my 2 co-sketchers.
All set up at Warcop
All set up at Warcop this morning. Lots of fabulous arts and crafts being brought in for display and sale. https://warcopparishhall.co.uk/
Sketching at Warcop
Join me at the Warcop Art and Craft Fair where I’ll be leading 2 sketch groups. Last year we went to the Church. This year we’re heading into the village ( weather permitting or weather not permitting we’ll head into the marquee ). Bring something portable to sit on. As advertised, you can use your own art supplies or try some pastel materials provided by the Eden Valley Artistic Network Creatives project for this event. Sunday 3rd May 1.30 – 3.30 pm. Monday 4th May 11am – 1pm. https://warcopparishhall.co.uk/art-craft-exhibition/
Scots Sketches
Enjoyed holiday sketches with inktense blocks, some watercolour and white gouache.
