I uh… I guess I never thought anyone else in town would have experienced something like we have. ” She sighed shaking her head, “ I know that’s naive of me…. I just.. I hope no one has to go through it. You hungry or anything? ” She smiled, “ Hana is down for a nap. She hasn’t been feeling to well and uh.. the grump monster was definitely visiting. ” She laughed, “ so we have the house to ourselves for a little while. ” She smiled and nodded, “ I don’t want you to think we have to talk about it though. Like it’s hard to talk about. Before we adopted Hana I know I just kind of carried it by myself. I mean Tereik knew about it but… I just. I felt so alone. I knew I had to fix it and I found the support group. Probably the greatest thing to happen ever. ”

MARISSA just gave the other a gentle smile when she corrected herself on messing up her name. “ it’s perfectly alright, you’re definitely not the first person that has messed it up, and you won’t be the last. ” she promised the other woman sweetly. “ believe me, i used to think no one else in this town had gone through what i’d gone through either, but i guess we were both wrong? ” she added with a shrug. “ i could definitely go for some food, if you don’t mind? ” she agreed with a nod. “ i don’t mind talkin about it, especially if it’s with someone who understands. that’s better than not talking about it at all and just letting it eat at you from the inside, right? and at least this way we know we’re not alone? ”

“ yes, at least for now. ” marissa agreed with a giggle. they might be able to revisit that subject later, but for now it was better left alone. “ i mean, yes -- the cellar is also an added bonus, but believe it or not, i’m your friend because i happen to enjoy your personality. oh, and your daughter! ”

“ i’ve heard that too, but i think we should stay away from that option at the moment. ” mari told the other with a giggle. when asked if that was why she was friends with chana, marissa laughed and shook her head. “ no chana, that’s not why i’m friends with you. though it is an added bonus to our friendship. ” she teased the blonde playfully.

Gyda had invited Maria over after finding her in an online support group for women that dealt with fertility issues and losing a child. She had experienced both, still experienced one. Her and Tereik just kept the other really quiet. It’s why they kept trying though. They knew it was possible, they just didn’t know if it would be possible now. She smiled opening the door, “Hey, Maria right?” She said opening the door fully and holding out her hand, “Gyda.” She smiled, “I uh… I just wanna put a disclaimer on the fact that we don’t have to talk about anything… I just thought it would be nice for us to connect. Having someone around that knows how I feel would be nice and I figure you would think the same.” She stopped herself shaking her head, “sorry, I’m nervous. I don’t want to make you uncomfortable or anything. I just don’t want you to think we have to open up to each other or anything.” // @marialvarcz

FOR a while after losing her baby all those years ago, marissa REFUSED to talk about it, due to it being far too painful to relive -- but after all these years, she found that talking about it was often more beneficial than traumatizing, which is how she’d found herself in an online support group for women who were in the same situation as she was. she’d talked to gyda multiple times during their meetings, and she felt like she had a rather nice bond with the other woman, so when she’d invited her over for dinner, she’d been quick to agree. standing outside the door of the address she’d been given, mari played with her fingers as she waited for someone to open the door. “ hi! it’s mari actually, no ‘a’. it’s short for marissa. ” she told the other with a gentle smile, letting her know it was alright that she’d messed up her name. “ it’s nice to meet you, gyda. ” she hummed with a smile as she walked into the other’s house. “ i appreciate your disclaimer, but i’m sure i’ll be willing to open up at some point. ”

“ sounds like a plan to me. ” she agreed with a smile, watching as the other used her phone to order what they’d discussed. “ yes, pizza is the best for hangovers! ” mari told the other with a smile. “ i mean, i definitely won’t turn down pizza, so. ”

HEAVENLY acknowledges the reassuring smile and simply nods her head, the silent agreement hanging in the air between the two. “ Honestly, I think I might have to stop at a mini mart and just grab a little bit of everything, ” the brunette finally says in defeat, the sound of soft sigh slipping from her, “ My fridge obviously isn’t cutting it anymore. You feel like taking a walk with me? ”

MARI listened as her friend admitted that she might just have to go and get something to satisfy her craving, and the brunette couldn’t help but laugh as she gave the other a nod. “ i suppose i can take a walk. might do my mind some good to get some fresh air anyways. ”

THANKING her friend, she took her phone and opened up the app. Ordering pizza was the least she could do with how she was behaving right now. “ I already know. It’s the same every time. Spinach and mushrooms. What about you my dear? Think you deserve pizza after having to deal with me. ”

MARI just gave the other a nod as she listened to her speak. of course she knew what her daughter wanted, that should have been a given. hearing her question, she smiled softly. “ you know what? spinach and mushrooms doesn’t sound half bad? and hush -- that’s what friends are for. ”

IT was always nice hearing other speaking Spanish. She was raised speaking the language as was her son. It was important to her that her son spoke Spanish. “ ¡Mucho gusto!! ” The boy responded in a cheerful tone. Rosie smiled at the woman’s question.·“ Me llamo Rosalita pero puedes llamarme Rosie. ”

MARISSA was so attached to her native tongue that she was always excited to be able to speak it with someone who actually understood what she was saying. when the other introduced herself, mari gave her a nod of acknowledgement. “ rosie lo es. es maravilloso conocerlos a los dos. ”
