Sometimes when I dream, I sense a part of me that’s missing. It’s a strange feeling having your heart remember something your mind can not.

I had flashes of love poems I never learned how to write. But I felt them. I felt them all. All the emotions I forgot I had in me. They crash through me in waves I wish I could express into words.

Now, there is only one love letter left and it is this one:

I open a 24-second voice note and then a universe unfolds. I suddenly found myself believing in the cosmos, fate, witchcraft, stars, crystals, angels, and God. All at once. Everything I can’t see and touch, it didn’t matter. I believed it’s there. The universe conspiring on me.

The 16-second one was the worst of them all. A low resolution record of a soft voice singing. I smiled thinking at least it was in tune. It was a fifteen year old song. My favorite song.

♪ Close your eyes, dry your tears ‘Cause when nothing seems clear You’ll be safe here ♪

It was a 16-second promise.

Imagine having tens of voice notes. Imagine having none.

It’s not that when I found you, I found love, no. It’s just that when I met you, I met myself again.

And this is the version of me that I have been missing so dearly.
