Marie Therese and Mariana of Austria Fanart Part 2
Maria Theresa strolled into the palace halls hoping to speak to Mariana of Austria. Luckily for her, she saw Mariana of Austria walk by and she approached her and said.
Maria Theresa: Mother! Since my Lord father announced my engagement to the king of France, I could not contain myself from thinking of him. Mariana of Austria: He announced that two nights ago. Why are you so fixated on him, you haven't met him yet? Maria Theresa: I heard stories of him. They said he was a gentleman, a talented performer, and he had the finest of features. I cannot wait to meet him.
Mariana smiled and stated: You will make a magnificent Queen, May this marriage bring you joy.
@mariatheresaofspain @austin-friars @rmelster I hope you all liked it
Engraving of Marie Therese of France, Madame Royale. She was the fourth child and third daughter of Louis XIV and Maria Theresa of Spain. Two sisters, Anne Elisabeth and Marie Anne, had died before her birth, living only a month each.
Marie Therese would also die young, passing away due to tuberculosis at the age of five.
Hi my new friend, What is your opinion about Mariana of Austria?
I read in the Queen, Mother, and Stateswoman book that Mariana and Marie Therese had a close stepmom-and-daughter relationship.
Marie Therese is a kind, shy, and sweet girl. Love her she is so nice. I hated how she was always portrayed as brunette and they would portray her as far from her historical character as possible. She deserves better.
My opinion of Mariana of Austria has changed drastically in the last few years. I can't remember where I got this from, but when I first started getting into history I read that Mariana was cruel to Maria Theresa, so I initially disliked her because of that. Later I read, as you say, that they were actually close and I also found out what an iconic girlboss Mariana was, so my current opinion is that she ruled (literally).
Would you recommend Queen, Mother & Stateswoman? It's been on my radar for a while 👀
She really was just the sweetest thing: kind, shy and girlish, not awesome or iconic or noticable, but so wonderfully, beautifully human. My girl <3. <3.
Yes, I really don't understand how the casting director of Versailles looked at a short, fat woman with blonde hair and blue eyes and turned around and cast a tall, thin woman with dark hair and eyes as her. It's probably partially due to the spaniard curse; blonde and ginger spaniards always end up dark haired in these adaptations for some reason.
As for her personality, you'd think a shy, pious little queen who likes chocolate and gambling and loves her husband but is out of her depth in a foreign court wouldn't be so hard to comprehend and yet here we are 🙃
She indeed deserved so much better in life, in death and on screen, but she will always be my Roman empire <3.

Hello
FACT: Honour killing, or crime d'honneur, was a thing in France, as French culture was considered to be honour-based. In fact, it was legal in the country for a man to kill his wife for adultery until 1975.
