Nochixtlan protest update:

Police/military is burning bodies of dead near cemetery

Highway is still bad

Outsiders have reached the town and gunfire is being exchanged.

People continue being hurt and dead.

Many are being detained by police.

The town center is a virtual war zone.

This is happening in a town named Nochixtlan in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. The protest is not being discussed by the Mexican or outside media. This is my contribution to raising awareness. Please help spread the word of what is going on around the country as a result of the effects of Peña Nieto’s education “reform.”

Dozens of people are dying in Mexico and the world doesn't care...

Oaxaca, Mexico. Police are killing innocent people, activists and teachers because they did not agree with the education reform and they decided to protest. And this is not new, but it became really violent this days. From what I’ve heard… Every day, every night innocent people is dying, either burned or shooted. Police even cut off all the light, saying that they will “CLEAN”, this means killing people. And “people who dare to get out of their homes to help injured people or get refugees, will get CLEANED too”. Also, hospitals aren’t allowed to help injured people. This are orders given by the president and the public education secretary. And more, more stuff…

I know some activists have been violent, so police and more preople… But why does the innocent people have to pay? What about the kids who just wanted to go to school? What about all the damage? What about the civlians?

My point is…

Mexico is a really violent country, every day people get killed, or kidnapped. A lot of stuff happens and no one notices. There are a lot of incidents, but this is the first time I wanted to express myself.

Yes, our government sucks, and if we try to do an weaponless march, we get killed. It’s not the first time. And… Where is the world? Hello? We may not be an “important country”, but our people’s lives matter. Are we not worth your attention?

Our government and media are trying to silence information so no one can know. Please search and share information about the horrors we’re living in my country everyday, don’t let our people be silenced… Thank you.

In the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca, a deadly police crackdown against teachers has left nine people dead and more than 100 wounded. On Sunday, police descended on teachers in the community of Nochixtlán, where they had set up blockades to protest against neoliberal education reform and the arrests of two teachers’ union leaders last week on what protesters say are trumped-up charges. "As soon as they arrived, they began to attack. And we were few, very few," said a Oaxacan teacher. "Then we started running. But they began to attack right away, instantly. At no time did they give warning to clear the area." We go to Oaxaca to speak with Gustavo Esteva, founder of the Universidad de la Tierra in Oaxaca and author of many books, including "New Forms of Revolution."

I am a mexican woman, and my people is suffering, right now.

The Goverment is hurting innocent people, in Oaxaca, who are against a new reform about education. They were fighting with words and determination in their hearts, but for the Goverment, all of them are criminals. Only because they said “no”.

There is a war, right now. And we are talking about civilians fighting against armed people. Women, men and children, running for save their lives.

I am a mexican student, so I know what is wrong with my country and their administration. The Goverment and the Army are fighting against the people that they sweared to protect. And the media aren’t talking about this violence and violation of human rights.

I am mexican, but I’m not religious person. But, if someone is reading my words, please, pray. Pray for my people, for the peace. Pray for stop the violence.
